TimHauck Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Popular YouTuber Tyler Oliviera has released 2 videos about Hasidic Jewish communities recently, and is receiving a lot of backlash (including apparently getting his Patreon account shut down). I’ve said in the past that I actually like his stuff. He definitely tries to cater to the racists and has clickbaity thumbnails, but if you actually watch the videos he does try to get both sides and often shows why the racists are wrong (such as in his video on Springfield Ohio). He does similar in these videos, one in Kiryas Joel NY and one in Lakewood/Jackson NJ. I’ve commented before that Hasidic Jews should really not be compared to Jews as a whole, they don’t even like non-Hasidic Jews. A lot of the actual anti-semites like cdub100 would often talk about things that really were only done by Hasidics, and try to apply that to all Jews. So that would my main criticism of Tyler here - he would often refer to the groups being discussed as “the Jewish community.” But it’s not really the whole Jewish community, just the Hasidic community. But even if it’s a majority of them doing something, you shouldn’t generalize that to all of them. Even in the video the people complaining about the Hasidics point out that some of them are very nice. In the second video a lot of the people were mad because they watched the first. The biggest thing they were mad about was the thumbnail calling them “welfare-addicted.” Which is definitely a bit of an exaggeration 1 Quote

I should clarify, that comment was referring to the fact that Trump got the overwhelming majority of votes in both 2020 and 2024, inducing over 98% of the vote in Kiryas Joel in 2024. The Hasidics in general do NOT assimilate. That’s basically the story in the second video in New Jersey. Somehow they’ve managed to get taxpayer dollars to pay for separate buses for boys and girls to go to private religious schools, meanwhile getting on the school boards and voting no on funding for the public schools they don’t use. They also create housing developments and allegedly don’t let non-Hasidics buy in there. Quote

I do see them when I play Grand Theft Auto and I might have run over one by accident, but that would have been because they moved too slowly, not because they're Jewish. Quote
