Caine Mutiny Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 Also a big controversy- apparently voters in certain counties like Dallas are being turned away because Republicans changed the rules: for years you were able to vote anywhere in your county but this time the rules were changed so that you can only vote in the exact precinct you are assigned. So thousands of voters have been turned away and both Talarico and Crockett are demanding that the polls stay open to allow for this. Republicans always argue that these changes are never about suppressing the vote, but somehow that’s always the effect they have… Quote

Republicans always argue that these changes are never about suppressing the vote, but somehow that’s always the effect they have… They do everything possible to make voting harder in high population density districts. They know they will win the small districts so they don’t institute rules that affect them. They also took polling places away from college campuses and invalidated college IDs as valid for voting ID purposes. They do everything possible to fix things in their favor and have for a long time. But if 45/47 stays this unpopular, those measures might not be enough. 1 Quote
Caine Mutiny Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 Since I seem to be infamous here for making assumptions, I might as well go ahead and make some: 1. The energy on the Democratic side bodes bad news for Republicans in November, not just in Texas but in the nation. 2. I think the Iran war has really ramped things up. Dems would have been energized anyhow but not this much. People are pissed. 3. That being said, certain things look good for Republicans. Cornyns doing better than expected. Crockett is doing better than expected. A Cornyn vs Crockett race has gotta be advantage Cornyn. But maybe not it’s a strange year. Quote
dogcows Posted March 4 Posted March 4 According to local news outlets, Texas once again changed the polling place for many voters. The new places were listed on a website. The website, however, had inaccurate information on it. So, move the polling place and then give people the wrong info about the new location. That is how Texas is being run right now. https://www.fox4news.com/news/judge-extends-polling-hours-after-dallas-county-voters-turned-away 1 Quote
