Mark Davis Posted March 11 Posted March 11 1 hour ago, Caine Mutiny said: No actually Im arguing that there are already controls in place that work just fine and the additional safeguards you’re proposing aren’t necessary. After all how would an undocumented person go about voting? They have to give a name and that name has to be on the register the voting people have. They don’t have to show ID sure but how would they even know the name and address of the person if they weren’t that person? I suppose that if somebody really wanted to take the time and effort they could commit fraud. But it’s not easy and the notion that it would ever be done in large enough numbers to effect an outcome is simply absurd. This is all that matters. It's totally possible your supposition that it is not done in large numbers is correct, but I fail to understand the rational argument for not securing it. If you live in a gated community, you still have locks on your doors. To say that small fraud could never affect an outcome is the absurd part. We had a state senate election decided by 1 vote out of 17,000 and there was a provisional ballot thrown out that would have tied it. You can't say with any certainty that the error/fraud rate is less than 1:17,000. We should always strive to have secure and fair elections even if we aren't perfect. To say we are accepting of some fraud or we leave some loopholes in our security because the fraud it likely allows is probably not significant is the risk. By not securing it, we don't know what that fraud/error rate truly is. 1 Quote

Voltaire Posted March 12 Posted March 12 You would think this would be such an easy bill to pass, but the left has lost all sense of reason and just reflexively says 'no' to everything. This has to be done state-by-state as ballot referendum around the country. Quote

Hardcore troubadour Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 So the democrats still refuse to fund DHS. And this the Senate for gods sake. I’m sure everyone has seen the lines at the airport. So everyone is bunched up in an enclosed area. A terrorist doesn’t even have to blow up a plane for a mass casualty event that would still cripple air travel. Quote

Maximum Overkill Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Schumer, Dems block DHS funding again, Trump intervenes to pay TSA agents The Senate was again unable to end the Homeland Security shutdown on Thursday despite signs of a possible breakthrough to end the long-running closure, which prompted President Donald Trump to make a move. Senate Democrats blocked Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding for a seventh time as the partial shutdown entered its 41st day on Thursday, after Senate Republicans made a new offer earlier in the day after late night negotiations. Trump then ordered DHS to pay airport workers on, and accused "their ‘Leader,’ Cryin' Chuck Schumer," of making it clear where Democrats stand, "and that is, ON THE SIDE OF CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS, AND NOT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE."
