squistion Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 https://x.com/DemocracyDocket/status/2052753648413761544 BREAKING: In a loss for Democrats, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled the congressional map voters approved last month to counter GOP gerrymanders cannot go into effect. The decision overturns the will of voters for technical reasons and gives Republicans a leg up for the 2026 midterms. 2 Quote
Hardcore troubadour Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Wins are stacking up, again. Also, Tennessee is all red now. They gerrymandered the only rep for black people, Steve Cohen. Quote

Caine Mutiny Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I keep trying to tell you dudes that, for 2026, there are almost NO red districts. Republicans can overturn Democratic gerrymandering and do their own gerrymandering all they want. None of it will make a difference this year. Quote

Engorgeous George Posted May 8 Posted May 8 What will be interesting, from my perspective, will be exactly where have the democrats who have fled California and New York moved to, and in what concentarations since I believe they will continue to vote democrat even though they have fled democrat policies in action. Have they migrated in enough number and enough concentations that they could flip unexpected and formerly red districts? Are they a wild card? As partisans seek to gerrymander districts population flows might render the assumptions upon which they are so doing to be faulty. As I understood arguments from recent elctions a few thousand votes in precisely the right districts could have swung those elections. Fewer than say 100,000 voters in all. Well we have more than that number by a few fold on the move since the last election. Who knows what that dynamic may hold. I only know this, the district in which I live has shifted from solid red to slightly blue and that can well happen elsewhere. The best laid plans .... Quote

I expect this from the racist chuds that show up for GOP primaries, but I think they really lowered their chances of keeping that Senate seat now. Paxton is a total disaster of a person. Quote

squistion Posted May 27 Author Posted May 27 NYT update: Shortly after the race was called, James Talarico’s campaign released its first video of the general election, with Talarico speaking directly to the camera and describing Ken Paxton as the “most corrupt politician in America.” Talarico said “mega-donors and their puppet politicians like Ken Paxton have stolen from us.” Quote
Caine Mutiny Posted May 27 Posted May 27 I have a bet here with somebody that Talarico will win in November. Can’t remember who. it was for $100. The pollsters are calling this race a toss up. But I don’t see it that way. Unless there is some shocking reveal about Talarico I think he wins pretty easily. And even if there is a shocking reveal, if gas prices remain at or near the current rate Talarico wins anyhow. 1 Quote
