The pollsters are calling this race a toss up. But I don’t see it that way. Unless there is some shocking reveal about Talarico I think he wins pretty easily. And even if there is a shocking reveal, if gas prices remain at or near the current rate Talarico wins anyhow. Toss up? My aunt Fanny. Like you say, maybe Talarcio has something in his past that can come back and bite him (although I think we would have seen that by now). Even if Trump turns around the economy he has had a huge switch of Latino voters towards Democrats after seeing their aunts, uncles and grandmas being deported and that in itself might make the difference for Talarico. And Texas has one of the lowest turnout rates of young voters in the country. Paxton might just be bad enough to finally flip a Texas Senate seat. But I wouldn’t bet on it. Quote

It’s the combination of 3 factors: Paxton terrible, gas prices/inflation, Latinos in Texas pissed off about the ICE stuff. That should be enough to get the Dem in there. We’ll see. 1 Quote

Caine Mutiny Posted May 27 Posted May 27 The campaign is sure to be ugly and based on what I’m reading Paxton’s team might as well have been led by @Maximum Overkill. It’s going to be “Talarico loves the trannies!” 24/7. But I doubt it will work. Quote
Caine Mutiny Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Maureen Galindo, the anti-Semite who was supported by Republicans and whose comments were brought to our attention here by @HellToupee, was easily defeated tonight. She was denounced by nearly every prominent Democrat. 1 Quote
Hardcore troubadour Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Talarico is certainly battle tested. He defeated the formidable Jazmine Crockett in the primary. That must have been very difficult. Quote

squistion Posted May 27 Author Posted May 27 https://x.com/OccupyDemocrats/status/2059422620945440934 SUPERSTAR! Senate candidate James Talarico hilariously destroys his MAGA opponent for spreading the pathetic lie that he's a vegan. They're REALLY grasping for straws now... "I'm an eighth generation Texan. I've been eating barbecue since before Ken Paxton's first indictment," State Rep. Talarico told MeidasTouch. "And if all they have on me is lying about me being a vegan, I feel pretty good about our chances this November." Quote

Hardcore troubadour Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Ken Paxton has been the AG of Texas since 2015. So we’re to believe the people of Texas voted for him for AG but won’t for the Senate, for a six gender Vegan who thinks child mutilation is fine as long as mom says ok? Anything is possible I guess. In 2022 in AZ, the Repubs had a gimme for the governor race, Karin Taylor Robson. But the MAGAs decided to go with Kari Lake, who is easy on the eyes but hard on the brain. She lost to Katie Hobbs, a Dem who is as exciting as watching paint dry. Texas being Texas, they may get away with it, but they are really pushing the limits on this one. 1 Quote
