I'm Buying a New TV. Sony Bravia 5 (Mini LED) or the Sony XR8B (OLED)

We have a mini oled because it’s in a bright room. Can’t have an oled in a room like this. If your room is dark get the oled , you will love it

I keep the blinds closed, so it's daylight, but not bright.

I was looking at the Hisense u6n. I watched a video about how to make it a great TV. $425. Then I decided to get the 65". Another 150. With Hisense you have to get the extended warranty. Another $110. The you have to get the Roku Ultra. Another $65. Backlight. another $65. Better HDMI cable and on. The next thing I knew I was spending over $800 for a cheap TV. Then I saw Amazon is having a sale on both the Sonys. For $200 more I don't have to play the Hisense Panel Lottery. With Sony I don't need the warranty or the Roku or any of the other stuff. So I'm going with one of the Sony's.

I bought our current TV at Costco and ended up with a 5 year warranty. If you’re a member it’s a great deal. I went with a TCL and pleasantly surprised . The Sony mini led is $1099 online but probably cheaper in the store. Comes with a 2 year Sony warranty and 3 year allstate warranty

I love SONY for TVs.  Didn't we just talk about this?

I never remember the difference between OLED etc and just do online research when I'm about to purchase to figure out what I want.

Why would owning a tv prevent you from reading?

I looked hard at the TCL MK8 or whatever. It looks like a great TV if you win the panel lottery.

Sense my TV died I've been doing tons of research. There are so many options now that it gets confusing. This TV is great, but will suddenly dim if overloaded. This TV is great but it reflects any lights that are on. On and on. Hisense U2N is great, but you might have to return it 3 times to get a good panel. Blah blah blah. That's when I decided to go with a Sony. Don't need the extended warranty so I can put that money towards the TV. Right now I'm leaning toward the Mini LED.

Just bought the Samsung S90F, but have been a fan of the Sony Bravia series for a while.  The difference maker for me was that the Samsung has the Spectrum app already on it.  No need for a cable box or Roku.

I used the site in the last thread about TVs (rtings.com?) and searched best TVs for watching sports.  The top two choices were Samsungs.  The Bravias have a setting for sports, motion-flow, that works very well.

I hear great things about the S90F. I didn't go with it because it doesn't support Dolby Vision.

My sister is on her 3rd Bravia and she watches sports year round, so I have no disagreement with your choice.

I was looking at reviews and saw the colors on a Bravi 7 and was blown away, but I didn't want to pay another $500. So I started looking for deals. I found a brand new Bravia 7 that was an open box deal that was like $50 more than the Bravia 5. I jumped on it. It's being delivered on Friday. I'm very excited.
