weepaws Posted March 20 Posted March 20 But to get others on board, came it a league rule that players can only play in 17 games. I'm sorry, but that just seems silly, another reason why I just follow sports, expect through ff, or other fantasy sports leagues Quote
weepaws Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 I don't care if they play 30 games, but you can't limit the about of games a player can play in Quote

If not then they want more money.....seems fair to me. Quote
weepaws Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 I didn't read that the players want this, the NFL wants it. I think it's great for them to play more games, but to put a cap on how many games a healthy player is allowed to play in seems dumb Quote
Maximum Overkill Posted March 21 Posted March 21 I want 20 regular season games, even if that means bigger rosters, etc Quote
JagFan Posted March 21 Posted March 21 I think they should play everyday and get Saturday and Sunday off. 1 Quote

weepaws Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 I think they were happy playing 14 games, If the league is really concerned about their health, they wouldn't be pushing for more punishment. Quote

They count because there are only so many of them. Id rather not water it down. Quote
Maximum Overkill Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Fuk it, 82 game season, play 3 days a week. Problem solved Quote
cmh6476 Posted March 23 Posted March 23 As a season ticket holder i don't care about not having two home preseason games any given year. Quote
weepaws Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 Getting rid of all preseason is great, but, if they play more regular season games let's not put a limit on how many games one can play in Quote

If not then they want more money.....seems fair to me. 0% chance the players will actually want this in the end. No team is going to want their backup QB starting, with no chance the starter comes in, and possibly keep them out of the playoffs. All it will take is one team to miss the playoffs by one game, and they lost out because their backup was 0-1. What's going to happen is that players will want a 5% raise, and they'll get it, because they'd be right in arguing that their contracts were based on a 17-game schedule. They'll want, and get, a 2nd bye week. The other thing is, in the end, the players care less about "Player Safety" than the owners do. The players care about 1 thing, and 1 thing only... how much money will/can/do, they make. Every mention from the players about "Player Safety" is a 100% lie. It's ALWAYS, about the money. The only sucky thing is that this will now push Super Bowl Sunday from the week before Presidents Day, to the week after Presidents Day. Quote

That said, if they go to an 18-game schedule, one thing that will definitely happen is only 2 preseason games instead of 3. 1 Quote
weepaws Posted March 24 Author Posted March 24 I haven't seen good football since the late 80es, I'm not concerned, I just want productive ff players Quote
Ray_T Posted March 25 Posted March 25 true. but some of those week 1 games will be sloppily played. when the CFL went to an 18 game schedule, thats what happened. granted that first week is still better than watching an exhibition game, but its still somewhat disappointing. Quote
weepaws Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 A lot of will one games still resemble a preseason game. most of the starters don't play much in preseason. Quote
gridiron whirlwinds Posted March 25 Posted March 25 It is all about the money, if they are going to have to play 18 games, then they will want more money. It is the way the world works, nobody wants to work more hours for the same amount of money no matter what job they do. The NFL is the same, they want more games to make more money...more money for everybody will win in the end. Everybody knows it is coming they have been talking about it for years now. The NFL knows people will watch every week, no matter if there are 20 games. This is a business for both sides, a business and entertainment and nothing more. Most people won't remember who won the superbowl five years ago without somebody telling them or without looking it up. In the end more games means more money for everybody, throw in all the gambling and everybody wins. The quality of the game, the injuries and all else takes a back seat to the mighty dollar and this will never change. Quote
weepaws Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 I don't have any issue with more games, but I do not like that they might put a limit on how many games a player can play in of they do add more games Quote
TBayXXXVII Posted March 25 Posted March 25 1 hour ago, weepaws said: I don't have any issue with more games, but I do not like that they might put a limit on how many games a player can play in of they do add more games That won't happen. Both side pretend "player safety" is an issue, but none of them care. Both sides use it to generate sympathy from the fanbase, that's all. As mentioned above, it's always, only, about the money. Quote
weepaws Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 Of course it's about money, sports isn't about winning and losing, it's only about money, that's why I don't watch. I just care about ff Quote
