The Elevator Killer Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I used to do ghost hunting as a hobby. At the St. Francis Inn in St. Augustine we had a conversation with something through an EMF meter. At the end, just as the stories we read about said, a light flash, almost like a flashbulb, went off at the foot of the bed and flew into a closet. At the Villa Convento in New Orleans, I got poked, something moved the shower curtain about halfway down from where it should have been, a door opened to welcome us, there were other things like knocking, the smell of greens cooking and other stuff. At the Haunted Trestle in Lithia Pinecrest FL we had something stalk us in the woods that led to the trestle. We moved, it moved. We stopped, it stopped. I threw some branches at where we heard the noise coming from, but nothing ran away. An animal would have ran away. And when I was a kid, a large group of us saw something rise from a horse pasture that was transparent. There may be more. 1 Quote

Frozenbeernuts Posted April 8 Posted April 8 My son saw a figured dressed in a black cloak run past his room. He saw the same figure a week later in a friend's garage. I told him I believe him, and that non physical beings cannot harm us. 1 Quote
SaintsInDome2006 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I knew a girl from a confederate era North Louisiana home & she swore furniture in the house would move. She ended up studying voodoo & witchcraft lore which is how she ended up in NO. I stayed at The Myrtles upriver, someone I talked to claimed they saw something. A guy I know grew up in a West Bank river plantation (it’s in the movie Skeleton Key) & he swore it was haunted. I never sensed anything in those places but then I think there are people who are ‘connected’ while I like most am not. These people I’ve known were believable to me. Quote

Interesting. Stuff happens in the Quarter. Some places have some very bad tales. There’s a bar known to be haunted, MRB. It’s in a former morgue. It used to be creepier but now it’s a sports bar. 1 Quote
Fnord Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Back in HS my friends and I went through a Ouija phase. A couple spooky things happened, but nothing crazy. One night I was playing with a couple gals that were super into Ouija, like true believers. By that time I was kinda over it, but as we went, the "spirit" we were talking with got kinda nasty. It happened over 30 years ago so I don't remember the details well, but the gals started acting scared and I thought they were just messing with me, so I thought I'd be the big swinging di<k macho dude and told it we didn't believe it was real and to prove that it was. I expected nothing to happen, but then I had like a shivering bolt shoot up and down my spine several times over like 20 seconds. Hair on my neck and arms stood up, and I got goosebumps. It didn't hurt, but it was like nothing I'd felt before or since. I put that Ouija back in the box and don't think I've touched it since. 3 Quote

I use to live in St Augustine in the 70's but hadn't been there since 2000, that cemetery got to be haunted and one of those Ghost Hunters show did a whole EP in the Lighthouse and they caught a decent looking shadow figure in it. 1 Quote
TheNewGirl Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I used to practice Wicca a while back. Did some goofing around with Ouija in high school, tried levitation. We did the thing where someone sits in a chair, and you have four people standing around you. Make your hands/fingers into the "finger gun" shape, then you have them put their fingers under each arm/armpit area, and then two other people do it at the back of your knees. They essentially lift you just with their fingers. I remember being lifted up and over their heads, nearly touching the ceiling and screaming to be let down. A friend of mine tried to make his own Ouija board a few days later and that's when I kind of ducked out of any other activities with those friends. Making your own Ouija can be worse than buying the Parker Bothers one. I still have mine somewhere because I read if you want to get rid of it, you need to put it in the river. I had dreams about relatives that have long since passed; before I had babies of my own. In my dreams they'd tell me that they were watching over my children for me, and that they'd be interested in certain activities like sports, art, etc. All of that has come true. When my grandfather passed away, he visited me that morning when I was lying in bed. I had my hand up on the pillow, and I felt like someone came in and gave my hand a good squeeze. I said, "Bye Grandpa" out loud without a second thought. I knew it was him. My dad called me a short time later and told me he was gone. I used to wake up in the middle of the night a lot and see the tall dark shadow at the end of my bed, like a lot of people have claimed to see. One night, I finally told it to either do what it was going to do or leave me alone. Haven't seen him since. I've also had pets visit me, like the feeling of the bed being pressed down like they are walking around, or the feeling of a cold nose being pushed into your hand. 2 Quote
