CNN reported that Iran will still control the strait and will charge for passage. That was never true.

They do control the strait.  That's a fact.

In the 10 point plan that Trump accepted as a framework to negotiate they will collect a toll.  Also a fact and exactly what CNN reported.

That’s what the Iranian government says. This hasn’t changed. CNN reported correctly. 
 

Look we’re going to know the answer to this very shortly. Prior to the war 100s of ships passed through Hirnux daily without paying anything. If that starts happening again right away then CNN’s information will have been wrong (and much more importantly it will be a huge relief for the world- a relief, not a victory, because a victory implies that we gained something we didn’t already have}

If on the other hand Iran gets a toll for every sip that passes through, then Trump,  the guy who started this thread, and those here who agree with them will all look like idiots. (And much more importantly we will continue to be focked.)

The news is supposed to be reporting on what is happening from an objective standpoint. The real news- not what passes for news anymore which is opinion dressed up news. Any news organization should report what is happening warts and all.

Looking around a bit this morning. CNN and others said they received thier list from Iranian officials. As far as I can tell Trump didn’t melt down about the list of their terms, he melted down about the wording that Iran claimed this was a major victory over the US.

The problem with that is CNN injects tons of opinion into their reporting. They shape narratives instead of reporting facts. There are countless examples in the difference of how they frame a crime depending on who committed it.

I think the news networks should be asked (forced?) to draw a stronger line of demarcation between news and opinion. I know the current FCC is trying to hammer late night talk shows and The View for this stuff (and I'm not saying that is right or wrong), but I think if someone is watching CNN or FOX News or MSNow they are being told that what they are watching is factual stuff. Perhaps they need to have a thing were it is fully outlined that opinion is what is running from 8-12 at night or something. Basically it is news without influence before that and then you can spin it however you want in that 4 hour window at the end of the day
