kilroy69 Posted Wednesday at 05:19 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:19 PM This sounds like something out of science fiction. I bet this is propaganda to make the iranians think they can detect them even in their bunkers. Maybe to keep a stay behind asset safe. It would make no sense at all to admit to this tech. Even if a news org broke it as a tech they would just deny it. It sounds like something out of a techno-thriller, but Ghost Murmur is actually a recently declassified (or "deliberately leaked") surveillance technology that has been making headlines this week. It is a long-range heartbeat detection system developed by Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works. It recently gained notoriety for its role in a search-and-rescue mission in Iran. What is it? The technology uses quantum magnetometry and artificial intelligence to do the impossible: The Sensors: It uses synthetic diamonds with microscopic defects to pick up the incredibly faint electromagnetic field generated by a human heart. The Range: It can reportedly detect a single human heartbeat from up to 40 miles away. The AI: The "Murmur" part of the name refers to the faint signal the heart makes. The AI filters out all the environmental "noise"—like wind, engines, and electronics—to isolate that specific biological signature. Why is it in the news right now? It was used last week to locate a downed U.S. F-15 weapons systems officer (callsign "Dude 44 Bravo") who was hiding in a mountain crevice in Iran. Even though he wasn't using his survival beacon to avoid capture, the CIA used Ghost Murmur from a helicopter to find him just by his heartbeat. Why people are freaked out As you might imagine, the privacy implications are pretty heavy. The Pentagon's message to the world is essentially: "If you have a heartbeat, you can be found." It removes the ability to truly hide, even in total darkness or behind cover, because you can't stop your heart from beating. Quote

nobody Posted yesterday at 02:34 AM Posted yesterday at 02:34 AM Seems like a sensor that precise would have rather profound use in navigation and the medical field if such a technology existed which likely does not. Quote

He got us many contracts. I thought it was great for the first 2 years, and then I realized his strategy was to overpromise and then once a customer was pregnant with us, we could go back and ask for more money - essentially committing fraud. At that point, I realized I needed to fact check everything this guy says, and when I started fact checking it, I realized he was full of sh¡t most of the time. Not a little bit of the time. Not half the time. Most of the time. When we eventually merged with another business unit, we got some new leadership, and he did his typical BS. The new leadership came to me and said, "well if company X is doing that, we need to do this." I just said, "I don't think that's true and it's important to fact check what he says before making decisions." They couldn't believe it. "Why would he say that unless he knew!?!?!" they asked incredulously. So then I had to go get evidence it wasn't true to save us from some bad decisions. See the director didn't realize this new leadership team would listen to what you say and make decisions based on that. Fast forward 3 months we have a town hall he gets up and talks uninvited as our LT kind gives him a side eye, and part of his little speech was, "It's true I do 'fire for effect' sometimes, but the overall message is right." They clearly talked to him about being more precise. (fast forward another 3 months and he was laid off) Your boy Trump fires for effect a lot, and he doesn't understand that his words have impact. You can't and shouldn't take what he says as truth. You can only glean a general direction from what he says. positive or negative. nothing more, and even that's sketchy if he's motivated to lie. He doesn't know the details. He doesn't care about the details, and he doesn't have the capacity to understand the details. 1 Quote
