Daniel Lurie, the New Democrat mayor is pulling this off. Not by removing its Sanctuary City status or any of the woke things that make the city by the bay so great. By investing in drone technology and facial recognition. These options were opposed by leftists for years but not by moderate, pro-business and safety Democrats like Lurie.

This is the answer. Other big cities run by Democrats should take note. We can fight crime without resorting to MAGA bigotry.

Did they clean up the Tenderloin? I love SF, world class city, one of a kind setting but last time I was there that shet was wild.

That’s the most dangerous part of the city. But even there statistics show a 13% drop in crime.

Plot Twist: The Mayor has been using the city incinerator for homeless people once he catches them with the drones.

Impressive improvement.  I'm a little surprised that you support freedom-restricting methods like security cameras, but that's a small nit.

The 43% reduction in car break-ins is hooge.  That was a major problem the last time I was there, which was ~ 2019 IIRC.

I'd definitely look at that mayor if he were running for office in AZ.

I go there quite a bit, less so more recently, but last trip there were a couple streets that were just bananas. I typically don’t pay too much attention other than basic situation awareness but I was close to high stepping it to move through that.

Went to Mission district for a burrito and they also had blocks of this flea market type thing that I had either missed on previous trips or was new. If you wanted a used bottle of shampoo that was your spot.

In any case still an awesome town and that whole area up north and inland to the wine areas is a pretty epic part of this country.

Some freedoms have to be restricted at times in order to have security. No way around it. I prefer these methods to what MAGA usually proposes (ending sanctuary city status, etc.)

“Technology can help cities regain control of their streets, but ultimately the key ingredient of public order is the willingness to enforce laws already on the books without being cowed by accusations of racism or social injustice.”

Maybe the title to this thread should be Thanks to A Democrat following the recommendations of professional LEO and Prosecutors.

So enforcing the law results in less crimes. Hmmm. Whodathunkit? You have to laugh at liberals for patting themselves on the back considering it was their fault in the first place.

Absolutely. We can enforce laws and take the advice of professional LEO, and at the same time resist the ICE bullsh!t. ICE has shown itself to be anything but professional and they shouldn’t even be regarded as LEO. They need to stay away from the cities.

That’s Trump’s move 😂

My immediate thought.  Great.  A liberal run city finally realizes that crime prevention methods work!  Shocker!  I guess we should cheer

And facial recognition has already been challenged multiple times as racist. Im kinda surprised the liberals here support that

Why? Because they are taking your cheap labor force away from you?

They have arrested and removed countless murderers, rapists and pedos. I’d say that’s law enforcement.

No they haven’t.

A simple google search will confirm that they most certainly have. But as we have seen, you have difficulties with googling. Ask your kids for some help.

The reason you refuse to link anything is because you constantly lie.

https://tracreports.org/immigration/quickfacts/

Over 70% of ICE deportations have no criminal record AT ALL. The number of murderers, rapists and pedos are a small minority of those deported, they’re not “countless”.

Just stop lying already.

I don't intend to ever visit San Francisco, just seeing that name pop up as a flight layover destination causes enough dread and emotional turmoil, but -serenity now, serenity now - I survived the ordeal without the need for professional counselling.

Voters pick what they want and get what they deserve. Personally, I still think San Francisco residents richly deserved London Breed and Chesa Boudin. I think that people in Che Guevara t-shirts who use pronouns in their bios and make "land acknowledgement" statements and  paint over George Washington murals and tear down US Grant, Francis Scott Key, and Christopher Columbus statues to be replaced with George Floyd murals, should live in places where the streets are littered with the glass of car-jacked vehicles, where all the grocery stores close, where toothpaste is under lock and key, where homeless transgender drug addicts take over sidewalks and are given free needles, stealing up to $950 is a misdemeanor, and pooping on the steps of the city hall (or anywhere else) is considered their version of free speech.

But I guess they had too much of a good thing.

I'll miss the memes and funny stories.

While, I still don't think people who live there deserve a cleaned up city, I do support the voters right to pick what they want and get what they deserve.

It occurs to me that "thanks to Democrats" in the title is like if a serial killer rescued a cat from a tree, and the headline read, "Cats are safer thanks to serial killers."

Point being, there is nothing in this behavior that has anything to do with the current Democrat party.

It has everything to do with the current Democratic Party. Your complaints refer to the OLD Democratic Party.

Putting all political discussion aside, you’re really missing out. It’s truly one of the most gorgeous cities on Earth. Built on a hill overlooking the bay, the views are absolutely stunning.
Beyond that some of the best restaurants on Earth. Sourdough bread at Pier 39- it’s a paradise, honestly.

A paradise with a poop map app?  Maybe its a paradise if one has enough money to stay clear of the populace on the streets.  I enjoyed my time there but primarily because my time there was spent traversing the bay over to Marin.

Yeah sorry if I don't take one of the biggest losers on the internet that has his father inlaw paying for him to travel around the world seriously when he pontificates that SF is one of the best cities on earth.

Explain please.  Are you saying that the current Democratic Party is the party of pro business and crime crackdown?

Until then, bartender, I'll have what he's having.

Sure.

Well the Democratic Party is a big tent. There are plenty of progressives and leftists in it, and they’re welcome and that’s fine. But I’m seeing locally a growing number of pro-business, centrist Dems- guys like Rick Caruso and this mayor. Still very liberal on social issues, pro free trade, pro immigration, pro business yet mindful of climate concerns. Pro law and order but not pro-ICE. Pro NATO and the post World War II vision of the USA. Libertarian with a small l.

I think the MAGA movement has created a void inside the Republican Party for a lot of people who hold some of these beliefs, and I think there is an opportunity here for Democrats to enlarge their numbers. We’ll see.

Oh yeah, Caruso lost to Karen Bass.  😂

Like 79 candidates running for governor and nobody knows which idiot to vote for.   CNN hosted a debate and couldn't get any of them to answer a single question. They just attacked each other because.....wait for it.....Trump's fault.  🤣

TMZ complaining about how Hollywood is dead when their company operates outside of CA now primarily. Companies and people leaving in droves.  🤣

It's really looking up for the new democrats and California!!!!!!!! 🤣

I once saw a boy who looked like he was 9 years old drinking a 40-ounce Olde English 800 on a Tenderloin street corner about 10 a.m.

Want to know why California is doomed?  People like Tim live there.  He could have chosen Spencer Pratt as a new politician that might be able to make a difference in cleaning up LA. Instead he picks the guy that lost last time to Karen Bass as his hero.  It's like they want to be miserable.
