I ordered 12 bags of soil to be delivered from the local Walmart instead of just picking them up on my way past the store. They are probably 40 to 50 pounds per bag. 

I get free shipping, so I figured why not?

Reminds me of a dude I worked with... had a flat tire in the office parking lot. I offered to help change it, but he said "No thanks, I'm gonna call AAA." 

I was stunned. Can't imagine just standing there watching another man change my tire. I'd be embarrassed and feel like a b*tch. 

In fairness my coworker was gay, but only closet - not flaming. Bet the AAA dude didn't see it that way.

a lot of (most?) places offer free shipping at a certain $ amount but also offer free returns.   I often add something random to my order to meet the shipping threshold and then return it.

meh. I can certainly change a tire but ever since having AAA the thought has never crossed my mind to change my own tire. Something is definitely going to happen soon because I am about to jinx it, but I have never had a flat myself . I've had a few nails with slow leaks that I brought to my shop and they were able to plug. 

but if i'm paying for a AAA membership for other random issues, why would I bother changing my tire if i'm already paying AAA in general? it's not like the person they send out isn't getting paid.

AAA is for emergency towing, or possibly ran out of gas on the highway.  Change a tire? Yeah, they'll do it... I'd bet that's almost exclusively women.

I've actually only ever used it for a completely dead battery and when I was helping my grandmother out and driving her car to get the brakes checked and the brake line went... that was a fun experience. 

Like I said, never had a flat. I changed 2 flats for friends back on college but have not had to since. If it happens, I guess I can't say for sure what I would do but my gut tells me i'd be lazy about it

Maybe, maybe not. I've seen some attractive women on the side of the road with car problems, nobody helping them. Honestly, most dudes under 30 probably couldn't change a tire either. When I was in drivers training a million yrs ago the instructor made the smallest gal in the class change one in front of everyone, by herself.

That said, the last time I changed a tire on my own vehicle was probably 30 years ago. And while that was also the last time I had a flat, knock on wood, I'm not convinced that the POS spare bolted to the frame of my truck under the bed would be cooperative if I tried to actually use it. Getting new tires soon so hopefully won't have to worry about it.

either way I think this is a topic that likely is pointless to discuss.   in the end it doesnt matter.  you are taking advantage of a service they provide.  nothing more nothing less.

I doubt they care.  for all they know maybe you have a bad back or something.   its an easy delivery to make and you are getting a substantial amount of product.   all they care about is that they have made the sale.

I have changed maybe a half dozen tires for women regardless of their attractiveness.  I have done so for a group of nuns in a rainstorm, a young mother in a parking lot during a blizzard and a young woman with crutches and leg braces on the side of an urban highway during rush hour.  One of my youngest daughter's friends called her to call me to come and change her tire last year.  She was in a sketchy neighborhood, it was twilight, she has no Dad or brothers, and AAA told her it would be 2 hours before they could get there. When I found her she ws crying in her car afraid of the rough hispanic males offering her help.  One of them told me he was offering her help to try to get her out of the neighborhood before dark fell as he was worried the predators would soon be out.  Nice guy. He hung around while I changed the tire just to make sure I did not need help. I had never met that friend of my daughter before.  Real pretty gal who would catch the eye of pretty much any guy.  That is maybe not a blessing in that situation.
