I'm only this far into the thread (halfway through page three) and am hoping to learn what legal loopholes this will have to go through before any checks are cut, but I know enough to offer the argument for why this is happening.

On J6, some people misbehaved, 99% didn't, then after a few hours they all went home. Some people there were rowdy with cops, the capitol building was overrun with protestors, Nancy Pelosi, Jeff Merkley, Eric Swallwell and maybe other Dems had their offices ransacked. The worst thing of all that day was Ashlee Babbitt got shot/killed.

There was no insurrection on J6th. There was no conspiracy, it was a protest that got out of control. But the Democrats pounced on the opportunity for revenge against Trump supporters that had participated. Next thing you know, they were all being targeted and treated as insurrectionists, fired from jobs, barred from flights, and then hunted down and railroaded into jail  by activist left wing judges, prosecutors, their own activist left wing 'defense' attorneys, and the Biden politburo's Justice Department under Merrick Garland and way, way way overcharged.

What should have been at worst a $35 trespassing charge, became instead a 20 year prison sentences, bullsh*t labels as insurrectionist and all sorts of stupid overcharging.

The reason we're here is that the Trump Administration thinks the Biden administration focked up all these peoples' lives for no reason, other than political retribution, The protestors feel they are entitled to compensation for the ordeal they endured under the Biden Administration and since the current administration agrees their argument for reparations is a valid one, they're going to try to  make it happen.

And now I'm going to finish this thread, being most curious to see what legal wranglings and hurdles we will be expecting to see take place between now and whenever the reparation check get cut (if that ever transpires),

You say “there was no conspiracy” or “no insurrection” ignores the documented facts around groups like Oath Keepers and Proud Boys. Multiple members were convicted of seditious conspiracy based on extensive evidence: planning, coordinated movement, encrypted communications, stockpiled weapons nearby, and attempts to stop certification of the election. You can disagree with the political framing, but courts did not invent those cases out of thin air. Just shut up

That “99% just peacefully went home” leaves out that over 140 officers were injured and Congress was forcibly interrupted during the electoral count. That’s a major reason many Americans - including some conservatives at the time - viewed it as far more serious than an ordinary protest. All orchestrated by a delusional baby who couldn’t handle he lost an election. How you all have just moved on from that to back this giant sack of dogshit is insane to me but whatever.
