The Governor of Colorado just commuted Tina Peters’ conviction, under pressure by Trump:

This dude, Chuck Schumer, Corey Booker, Hakeem Jeffries, take your pick- always giving in to Trump. So sick of it. I’ve never been a fan of the progressive wing, the AOC-Mamdami wing. Don’t love their ideas. But you know what? I don’t give a sh!t anymore. If they are the only ones willing to fight this despot in the White House then so be it. Let them take over the party. Somebody has to stand up to this idiot.

The TDS is strong in this one and growing.   The democrats have already been there.  Blow up the supreme court, admit DC and PR, resort to violence.  Whatever it takes to stop Trump.  The dems don't care one tiny bit about democracy as long as it is against Trump.
I'm surprised there are some far left liberals who aren't on board with this.

Fock off with  your resorting to violence crap. 90% of the violence in the Trump era is by right wing extremists and everybody knows it. As for democracy right now the progressive left are the only ones who seem to care about it at all.

FWIW

1. I’m not for blowing up the SC. Retirement age yes. Expansion no.
2. Not in favor of making DC a state.
3. If Puerto Rico wants to be a state I’m good with it. Up to them.

As I wrote I’m not on board with many of the progressive ideas. But I will start voting for them because at least they will fight MAGA.

You should be adding your own CA leadership to this.

AG Bonta wants to tax CA even MORE to "fight Trump."  Federal wins. It doesn't matter what CA does to fight Federal law, and it's just ridiculous that you vote for these leaders who say that they need more money to fight the Federal govt.

You're no better than these weak leaders, IMO because you buy into all of the rhetoric and support the policies.

Your criticism is noted and not without merit. I vote for these guys because the alternative is worse. I’ve already told you: come up with a Republican conservative who will stand up to MAGA and I’ll strongly consider it.

I’m sick of the Democratic Party. Never loved it and it’s to the point where I despise it. All I really care about is beating back this xenophobic, right wing populist anti-immigrant, anti-trade, anti-globalism point of view. Whomever wants to fight against that I’m for.

Hakeem Jeffries, one of realtims favorite people now, wants to "break the spirit" of trump voters.  Nice.  yeah, the dems aren't violent at all and they only care about the people.  Give me a break.   TDS is real, very very real.  It causes the left to do dumb things

Eaactly.  Absolutely nothing else matters.  Not policy, not average americans.  Nothing.  Except "not Trump"  this did not work well in the last election but why not keep trying it?

Not “get Trump”. Stand up to Trump.

And not really Trump either, the movement he represents. If you want to accuse me of MAGA Derangement Syndrome that would be more accurate. Guilty as charged; I believe it’s the most dangerous, most poisonous, most anti-American large political movement in the history of this country, and it must be stopped and eradicated by any peaceful legal means possible.

If we TRULY had a right-wing violence issue, you'd know.

Most of the right wing people with access to guns or other items are responsible owners. If there was TRULY an extremist, gun-toting-MAGA violence problem...we'd be seeing a LOT more of it, IMO.

The left does not care about democracy. Again, your Governor can't have a Republican replace him, so he's changing the rules for the primary. Passing laws that we never voted on because he wanted them. That's not democracy.

Quit crying about the left caring about democracy; they just keep changing the rules and the goal posts when it doesn't suit them. Kind of like you do when you back track on your posts.

If by "anti-globalism" you mean against ceding American hegemony to China, Russia, and world government efforts, like the American Lasters want us to do, then count me in, I'm your huckleberry.

lol Nah. Just venting against weak eatablishment  Dems. I’ll be in a better mood in November, and then likely a worse mood a year from now when we chicken out on holding Trump accountable again.

Will of the people be damned. Do everything you can to stop what people voted for.

Literally what he said.   He put on paper what most far left democrats want.   Get Trump, at any cost.  No care at all about the policies they represent.  In fact, the dude actually said he doesn't like their policies.  No matter. GET TRUMP.   Nothing else matters.   Mandami and the loon in Seattle can bankrupt their respective cities for all he cares.  as long as they GET TRUMP in the process.

I don't understand why people sit there and deny hat TDS exists.  I really don't

No, I get it. We say the same things about Republicans. Nobody’s ever fighting hard enough, but we both aimed the fighting the other side and never for the people they’re supposed to represent.

Not just you, but I am kind of surprised with the way the election went just this particular cycle around. People wanted a more conservative Republican approach which again I’m admitting a cyclical, but that the left wouldn’t then counter that by coming back more to the center but instead, it feels like they’re going even farther left. Just something interesting.

Exactly the opposite: globalism means standing up to Russia and China through trade deals (like the TPP which Trump opposed), international commitments to NATO and Taiwan and South Korea, etc. it means staying committed to the post WWII order and promoting free trade and supporting small countries like Ukraine when they get invaded. If you are for these things like I am then you can’t support MAGA.

Why do you constantly misrepresent me? I wrote in this very thread that it’s not about Trump it’s about MAGA ideas and then I want into detail about the ones I oppose. I support anyone, conservative or liberal, who stands up and fights against those ideas. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

For those who want to actually be informed on this issue, the reasons the Governor commuted her sentence are:

1)  He couldn't find anyone who had committed comparable crimes who had been sentenced this harshly.  Most received sentences like 6 months probation.

2)  The not being able to find anyone else similarly sentenced included a Democrat who recently was convicted of the SAME crime as Tina Peters but got a slap on the wrist.  IOW, he found the sentencing to be disparate between a Republican and a Democrat.  He was actually trying to be FAIR.

Polis found that the sentence was more for what Peters said in court instead of for the crimes she committed.

The Dems really shat all over themselves from a cultural perspective during Biden's admin. Just went full anti-Trump policy willy-nilly in their chase to erase his policies, consequences and perception be damned. The party is feckless, toothless, rudderless, and leaderless.

Now Trump is making the same mistake, except he's also adding cronyism, despotism, and huge helpings of corruption.

TDS was always a stupid term weaponized to mindlessly wash away any kind of dissent towards him without taking a look at the reasoning behind it. If a Dem POTUS did the same stuff, I'd denounce them just as much. Let's hope it never comes to that and this abomination is just a blip. My greatest fear is that someone more cunning and patient than Trump uses the groundwork he's laid to truly fock this nation over. Trump does it out of vanity, selfishness and ignorance. The next guy might have even worse intentions and be even better at exploiting opportunity.
