hahahaahaha there is ZERO chance anyone is going to boycott the SEC for this. What stupid nonsense.

Bet you’re wrong. I’ll bet you at least some do. It’s the NAACP and Congressional Black Caucus calling for this to happen. Whatever you might think about these groups they are not small fish in the black community. If the black churches of the south get behind this movement it will be very difficult for athletes to ignore.

I don't see this having much/any impact, but would be happy to be proven wrong. Especially if some of the B1G can poach a bit of deep south talent.

You guys can belittle the issues raised by the NAACP or dismiss them or simply disagree with them. Doesn’t matter. THEY believe it’s a major blow to black representation, a throwback to the Jim Crow era. I happen to agree with them but that doesn’t matter either. What matters is: can they convince enough black athletes to create real pain here for the SEC? I don’t know. But I certainly hope so.

But they sure can ball! Amirite?

Even if the NAACP can convince some African American athletes who don’t live in the South not to go there and play that will make some difference.

For example Bryce Young came out of Mater Dei High School in Orange County. Went to Alabama and won the Heisman. Maybe the next Bryce Young stays at home, goes to USC or UCLA. Makes a difference.

They do have great hops, for sure.

This issue also goes back to the question of black athletes making political statements: from Muhammad Ali to Colin Kaepernick, white conservatives really don’t like it when they try to interfere with our leisure time.

The answer is no, the NAACP has been irrelevant for some time now.

Enjoy the comments though, seems to be going well.

The call for a boycott is less than 48 hours old. I don’t think we can judge its success or failure yet.

We don't like it when white athletes interfere with our leisure time either. hth

So how does this work?  Schools in states that are sensitive to the plight of minorities just suddenly expand their rosters and scholarships to accept all these black players?

These athletes can be paid. Depending on that dollar amount, the school, and the chances of them going pro...what are the actual chances they will boycott?

I have a feeling that schools in the Big 10 and elsewhere will find room for black players who decide against the SEC. Just a hunch.

The NAACP is encouraging some of the players, the ones who don’t get paid, to transfer to historically black colleges.

Historically though it’s the black ones that really piss you off. That’s been proven time and again.

13% commit 58% of violent crimes in the US.

What's not to dislike?

I’m skeptical only because it’s hard to turn down the money. Still it would be great if they did. Love to see this happen.

Wow!!! This is 100% the most racist thread I've ever seen!!!!

You should be proud of yourself @Caine Mutiny

Or maybe they look at their NIL money, and realize they may be taxed higher in places who are hostile towards millionaires and instead they go to Iowa, or Wisconsin or god forbid, Ohio State.

So how do Big 10 and other schools “find room”?  This is cyclical, don’t you see?  Nothing structural will change, just names on a few jerseys.  It does have a “feel good” element to it, so I understand your giddiness even without a logical plan do it to happen.

Yeah, I absolutely agree they should sacrifice their careers and life for their DNC plantation masters.  We'll give those scholarships to people who want them.

I work in this space.  You're out of your damn mind, or the author, or both.  These guys, white, black, or mixed all care about one thing right now, the bag.  If you grew up a fan of a school, and that school is producing at an elite level, they might give you a 5-10% break.  These schools are in far worse fiscal shape than most realize.  VC money is circling like vultures over a rotting carcass as we speak.

Can’t believe fat cat politicians are doing this. They have no shame while attempting to shame black SEC athletes . The pols have their bags of cash but want the athletes to sacrifice. GTFO
