The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department said in a police report obtained by multiple reporters that Jacobs was booked into the Brown County Jail on five charges. He faces a felony charge of strangulation and suffocation and four misdemeanor charges of battery/domestic abuse, criminal damage to property/domestic abuse, disorderly conduct/domestic abuse and intimidation of a victim. When you have athletes (even celebrities), who are involved with women who aren't themselves famous, they can be targets of gold diggers or women who've grown acustom to a lifestyle they don't want to lose. We've seen this play out a lot. Rich athlete (celebrity), attempts to breakup with gf/wife, and boom... domestic violence charges. That's why I'm waiting to see what comes of this. He certainly may be guilty and willing to pay her off to shut her up. She also might be lying to force him to stay with her, so she shuts up. Quote

I'll admit I had Jacobs pegged as a high character guy, so this came as a huge surprise to me. but sometimes it is the guys who look innocent who end up being the worst. I'm not passing judgement on this either way at this point. we dont even have much info, but if they think charges may be dropped, thats pretty quick after the original allegation so i am guessing there is a question of how good the evidence is and how reliable the witness is. sure, its also possible he paid some money to make it go away. but if he did we will never hear about it. We might hear about it in a roundabout way. The NFL will do their investigation... if they found that Jacobs paid money to avoid criminal charges, they could still suspend him for a couple of games (2?), under the Conduct Policy. He'll cop to it and say nothing, because it's better than being suspended for a lot longer (8+?), the public finding more out, and not risking further suspension. If they found out that she's lying, he'll get nothing. Quote
Maximum Overkill Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Every time someone posts here I think it's the the "Charges Dropped" story, haha. These are some serious charges but then again it's a rich athlete. These stories almost always evaporate somehow. Quote

But, the longer it takes, I'd think the more likelihood is that it would be next year. Wouldn't be shocked one way or the other though. 1 Quote
