thegeneral Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Thegeneral’s AI Slop EdEx Field Report Rankings: The Memorial Edition The Memorial Tournament at Jack Nicklaus’ Muirfield Village is one of the purest “ball-striking tests” on the PGA Tour—tight sightlines, firm conditions, and rough that punishes anything slightly offline. It’s a place where reputation matters less than execution, and even elite players can look ordinary if their iron play isn’t sharp. In a fantasy format where only the best three scores count per group, it becomes a grind of consistency over volatility—missed cuts still hurt, but it’s steady top-10 machines who quietly pile up winning totals in Ohio this weekend. Jack’s design doesn’t care how far you hit it; it cares how often you can hit it exactly where he intended. Without further ado…this week’s rankings: 1. Clocaine Scottie arrives at Jack’s place as the clear favorite to lay waste to the field. Conners has quietly become one of the best course-fit players at Muirfield Village. Akshay adds upside, while Hojgaard is the wildcard. Frankly, starting with Scottie feels less like drafting and more like exploiting a loophole in the rules. Almost worth finishing last to get him on the squad. 2. Patweiser Fleetwood, Hideki, Lowry, and English feels like a roster built specifically for a difficult Memorial setup. Hideki is a former winner here, Lowry loves a grind, the Irishman has been off this season though. Fleetwood has been piling up strong finishes all year and his flow is unmatched. This team looks like it studied Jack’s test before everyone else showed up. 3. Jerryskids Cantlay is a two-time Memorial winner and Henley has been one of the steadiest players on Tour all season. Rai and Noren fit the accuracy-first profile that tends to work at Jack’s course. A non-flashy roster symbolized by Rai’s double black gloves and iron covers, but probably the one most likely to annoy everyone by quietly finishing near the top. 4. General Si WOOOOO can shoot a 62 then follow it up with a 78. Straka and Berger have both been playing excellent golf, while Gotterup and Reitan bring plenty of upside and will be the key to a strong showing, but could also wither under Jack’s spotlight. This feels like the team everyone ranked too low before realizing the players are actually good, but could also finish dead last if the newbies stink. 5. Alias Cameron Young is an absolute beast and has the talent to win any event he tees up in. Spieth guarantees drama but can low, it’s Young though who gives this roster legitimate star power to win. Ben Griffin and Michael Kim have been two of the hotter players on Tour, making this team a lot stronger than it looks at first glance. The upside here is scary. 6. KSB Aberg gives this roster legitimate win equity, and Burns can get hot enough to carry a team. Bradley’s resurgence has faded and his recent game is resembling some of Jack’s hideous plaid pants, painful to look at and tight in the wrong places. Could be a contending team, but it feels top-heavy compared to the groups ranked above it. 7. Wonder Justin Thomas has looked much more like himself lately, while Sungjae and Fitzpatrick provide stability. McNealy has quietly become one of the better performers on Tour this season. Solid team, but it feels like they’re relying on several players finding their best form at the same time which happens every week. 8. Edjr Xander is the adult in the room. Min Woo and Wyndham provide the fireworks, while Knapp is may actually be built from the same materials as an IKEA wine glass he at least had the decency to not bend DJEd over by quitting mid-round. Plenty of upside if the roster survives the week but lots has to line up for DJEd to take home the title on Sunday. 9. Fumble Rory is the biggest star on the planet not named Scottie and probably the only other player capable of winning by five shots if everything clicks. Spaun has been one of the surprise performers of the season and his new putter is hot, but Fowler and Theegala remain difficult to trust week to week. Rory may be doing more than his share of the work and he did have the sore back earlier this season. Lift with the knees, Rory. 10. Bostonlager This roster has enough veteran star power to make Jack Nicklaus nostalgic but someone has to be in the 10 spot so this group of old timers is here. Jason Day lives at Muirfield Village yet treats it like an unfriendly neighbor’s yard. Rose, Scott, and Finau can absolutely contend, but this team is betting heavily on experience over momentum. That can work—just not often enough to rank them higher. 1 1 Quote
