You guys need to take another look at the last 3 presidential electoral maps. California has plenty of intelligent, conservative people with common sense and a well deserved hatred of moronic leftists. Its just LA, Sili Valley and rigged elections that keep CA the shithole that it is currently. But things they are-a-changin. Quote

You've not been keeping up with the news. While you weren't paying attention, southern red states climbed out from the bottom. Times have changed on education outcomes (among other things) in ways that will surprise. You are clearly unaware that California has squandered its advantages on education by chasing the equity fairy down the toilet, with dumbed down education standards, lowered expectations, in combination with social promotions policies pushed by teacher unions. Mississippi is now #9 in student achievement and. adjusted for race and poverty, Mississippi becomes #1. Black 4th grade students in Mississippi are better readers than black 4th graders in Massachusetts and are 2 1/2 times more likely to read by 4th grade than black kids in California, Massachusetts or New York' and they do it with significantly smaller budgets. Louisiana and Alabama are showing the same results. This is all happening despite the really bad levels of literacy among parents. The reason they're getting good results is because unlike blue states, they are taking testing metrics and absenteeism seriously. And my source for this shocking news is Nick Kristof, who I'm sure you're familiar with and hold in the highest esteem. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/09/opinion/red-states-good-schools.html Here's a bypass to the firewall. https://archive.li/PYmsY 1 Quote

Most people live on the coast, where the population density is massive, they vote heavily blue, and easily drown out the red votes in outlying areas to the east and north. Quote

Most people don't live on the coast. They haven't been building more homes on the coast for a while. A lot of rich people live on the coast because they are the only ones who can afford to do so. The vast majority of new home building is in the central part of the state from the bottom to the top. Watch this year's Gubernatorial election closely. The people of California are tired of the Dem's buIIshit. We might end up with two Republicans on the November ballot. Its a long shot, but it might just happen. ETA: a lot of those rich coastal elites are leaving the state because of the buIIshit they voted for. California is experiencing an exodus not seen before in it's history. With any luck, this state will lose electoral votes and senate seats in the coming years. Quote

listen2me 23 Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Sure both parties get trapped into their own echo chamber some. But for me the red vote is much more genuine. Sure you can say rural if you want. But all over a state like Cali is red. People with similar standards/ideas come from all over a state map. While Dems are confined to small spots. The Lib vote is much more group think. Quote
peenie Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I’m glad NJ won’t allow them to destroy our farmlands and they care about the consumer. I don’t know the full story (and clearly neither do you) but Texas won’t allow shareholders to sue Exxon Mobile or some-such. Why would you side with a corporation’s wrong doings? Money isn’t more important than people or nature. NJ has the best schools, best places to live, best healthcare, best food and strong economy. The only bad thing I can think of is some of the poor neighborhoods are really bad or were when I was living there long ago and the property taxes are high. Other than that it’s a great state. Trump even has property in NJ. Georgia is better for me though because it was more affordable. Quote

Higher education rates high, but our Pre-K/Elementary is among the lowest. You need to cite your sources, or tell the ENTIRE story...as usual. You leave out the caveats and nuances so you look better. #notsurprised 1 1 Quote
