The New York Giants are signing veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. following a workout with the team, they announced on social mediaMonday.

The announcement confirmed a previous report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Beckham, along with three other veteran wideouts, worked out for the club Monday after veteran receiver Gunner Olszewski sustained a season-ending Achilles tear last week.

The 33-year-old Beckham did not play in the NFL last season.

Beckham played the first five years of his career with the Giants after being selected 12th overall by the club in the 2014 NFL Draft. He dazzled immediately, making highlight grabs en route to a 1,305-yard, 12 touchdown rookie season. His leaping one-handed grab that season still stands up as one of the game’s most legendary catches.

That performance in 2014 was strong enough for Beckham to win the Rookie of the Year award that season.

His strong production continued over the next handful of seasons. Beckham topped 1,000 receiving yards in four of his five seasons with the franchise, his only blip coming when he was limited to just four games in 2017 due to an ankle injury.

I can't believe he's still just 33 years old. It feels like he's 40

Agree.
I can’t believe he was drafted in 2014 and it’s 2026 already. Time flies

with Odell it all comes down to his health.  Hes still young enough that he could be useful.

if Dart has the ability to throw a ball to certain spots on the field where he could high point the ball, thats something he likely can still do.    dudes jumping ability is second to none.   but if hes lost his speed, he will have basically turned into a better version of Dez Bryant.     still useful if the QB can thread the needle on those jump balls.

probably a better red zone threat than anything.

but..... I have serious questions about his ability to stay healthy.

I think he can make the team if he stays healthy.   but thats as far as I'll go.   for fantasy hes a player to watch (but not draft) or a late round flyer in super deep leagues.

but I wouldnt go further than that.

Does anyone know what the contract is? I don't see details anywhere. I wonder if it's just an invite to camp and he signs just to retire as a Giant??

I saw it was the veteran minimum with no guarantees (same as the other vets the Giants signed) so no financial obligation unless he actually makes the 53-man roster.  I'm guessing that this means they don't expect much from Nabers during camp and wanted some camp bodies to provide competition and a wider pool to select from if Nabers isn't ready for week 1.  Doesn't seem like Odell will get any preferential treatment - he's simply given an opportunity to make the team if he proves to be one of their top 5 or 6 WRs.  If he won't be playing on special teams he'll probably need to prove he is one of the top 3 or 4.

As Showboat mentions above Giants also signed JuJU SS and Honeynut Cheerios too. This is all to have enough WRs in camp. We’ll see where it goes if anywhere. Odell sounds like a player looking to get one last contract not a player looking to regain his “superstar” status. Good for him.

With Nabers out this seems like a sensible gamble to make.   if the guy cant play you just cut him.   no big deal.

I have no problem with this move.

and if he can still play, you just got a very good WR for pennies on the dollar.

Theres not a whole lot of downside to the move.

What do you mean Nabers out?

I remember the good ol' days when people thought the Bucs screwed up in taking Evans (#7), over Beckham (#12)... and got the worst of the 3 (Watkins went #4).  🤣

100%  he was the best of the 3.

Though Beckham had some very good seasons early in his career.    Then he went off the rails and got hurt (not necessarily in that order) and things went to crap.

but hes young enough that if he can get healthy and keep his head screwed on straight it should be possible for him to become productive again.

its a longshot that he hits the numbers he had earlier in his career, but I dont think WR2 is totally out of line if the stars align.   Granted that is a VERY big IF.

the reality is, I have concerns about whether his heart is in it.     This likely is his last chance to prove he can play, so if he cant cut it here, It is likely safe to write him off.
