Hamawy translated for him, attended his sermons, and testified as a defense witness during the Sheikh's 1995 terrorism trial. Hamawy did volunteer work in Bosnia in 1994 for the Benevolence International Foundation. He couldn't refuse to testify at trial if the defense called him as a witness. And his volunteer work for Benevolence International Foundation was years before the charity was shut down - as far as we know he was offering his services as a doctor or a surgeon.
