As I said in  the other thread I'll wait for the official signing and the details.  But you all keep arguing about it based on whether you like or hate the birthday boy.  This should push the market up tomorrow though.  Whee!!!!!

Stock market should go way up.
Gas prices should come down by 10-12 cents- temporarily.

Iran is now much more powerful than they were and have control over the Strait of Hormuz where they will likely be charging a passage fee in the future. But at least the strait will be open for now. Iran will also be much richer (due to this bribe) and much more likely to get a nuclear weapon in the future. Hopefully the Iranian people will someday soon have had enough and topple this evil regime but it won’t be due to us- we only managed to strengthen the hardliners.

Arguably this is the worst strategic geopolitical defeat in our history. But we’ll have to leave that question to the historians.

10-12 cents?   ROFLMAO.  They've done more than that in the last few weeks with the war still raging.

That’s what the oil analysts on TV are saying. But I’m sure you know more than they do. If so I hope you’re right.

Actually correction: another analyst now says 25 cents to 50 cents.
I have no links; watching this in real time. I certainly hope it’s 50 cents. Unfortunately it won’t return to February levels for at least a year according to all these guys.

I know you will be disappointed. No Kharg Island no regime change 😐

I still don’t think they can immediately open up Hormuz without removing the mines which all reporting that I’ve seen will take months to accomplish. But hopefully I’m missing something.

You're just a flat out liar.  Here is an article from yesterday:

https://abcnews.com/Business/gas-prices-falling-4-gallon-outlook-uncertain-analysts/story?id=133827602

Now of course this is from BEFORE the deal today but all the analysts cited note the drop over the last few weeks and there is no indication that it is temporary absent a flare up in the ME, which today's deal should avoid.  Now, I want you to support your assertion that the drop is TEMPORARY as you said up above.  Or admit that the analysis on TV are not saying it's temporary unless this deal falls apart.  Because that's the only negative variable; if this deal falls apart.  And if that's the case all bets are off.

No? They killed every one of them

No Kharg Island ✅

The leadership is the same political system and ideology…the Islamic Republic, the role of Supreme Leader, the Revolutionary Guard and the major state institution remains intact.

Fool me once, shame on you.

Fool me twice, shame on me.

What happens when you try to fool me 25 times?

Really, I hope the deal hold. I hope it's truly amazing, truly amazing, the greatest deal in the history of deals.

But, I dunno. I'm gong to wait for Iran to confirm. Call me pessimistic, I'm thinking its more likely that an oil tanker gets hit by a drone two hours from now, and three more get hit tomorrow.

Yeah I'm with you on all this.  I don't trust Iran in any way.

Announced on Don’s birthday right before his bouncy house party at the WH does seem a little suspicious.

Yup.  100% with you.  I want to see the details.  It bothers me that this was announced on Trump's birthday.  Either the deal was agreed to earlier and he purposely held out so he could announce it today, which he would do because he's a narcissist, or he made concessions he wouldn't have but for wanting it to be done by today so he could announce it on his birthday.  Either one bothers me because announcing it on his birthday shouldn't have been part of the process, and there is no way it's a coincidence that it just happened to get done today.  So I'll wait for the details and not make stupid predictions until I know what's in it.

Bitcoin just took off

My wife has taken a real beating there.  Once at 118,000 per coin and then only half that.  She lost, on paper over 1.2 million.  I tried to get her to mostly get out and into metals 15 months ago.  Hopefully it comes roaring back.

Two  reasons I believe it’s temporary:

1. Iran has stated several times and continues to say that they will impose a fee on all ships passing through the strait. I don’t think they’re going to do this right away. But I do think they will begin it in a few weeks or months at which point gas prices rocket back up again.

2. We have kept prices reasonably low due to using our reserves. Now they’re running out which oil executives warned Trump about, causing him to seek a deal. But there’s a time disconnect here- the reserves will run out before an open Hormuz effectively brings gas back down. At that point prices go back up. If what is being reported about the time it will take to remove the mines it may even go higher than what it was before.

Anyhow those are my reasons. You’re welcome to disagree and I certainly hope I’m wrong.

I was a card counter and encountered all kinds of variance.  I can't even fathom the variance of seven figures in crypto.

I guess it briefly surged even higher than I remember as I was occupied last August when it got to 124,000 per coin.  Our basis in the 20 coins is nearly negligible so they have done well for us, but yes, it does get me a bit that my wife did not follow my recommendation to divest them.  Still, in the end she is going to outlive me and it is all going to be her money so what she does with it really effects me very little.  In conservative holdings we have more than enough for me to live quite comfortably, and likely to for her as well, but who knows with inflation and her window maybe extending another 40 or 50 years. The bit coins are more or less mad moneyand she seems to really like knowing that she has them.

A leaked copy of the agreement has surfaced.

  1. Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for the Ayatollah getting a signed poster of that muscly Jack Reacher actor: Hubba-hubba!

  2. Trained pet dog from Israel for every Iranian man: Not sure why they want this, but okay.

  3. Iran will get rid of its enriched uranium by putting it into a bomb and dropping it on Israel: Problem solved.

  4. Tucker Carlson will be permanently relocated to Tehran: It's what we call a"win-win-win."

  5. The Middle East will get together to come up with a shorter name for the "United Arab Emirates": What a mouthful.

  6. The U.S. will unfreeze Iranian assets in exchange for pinky promise that the money won't be given to terrorists: Score!

  7. Iran will be officially renamed "The Islamic Republic Of Trump Lovers": It's got a ring to it.

  8. Someone will finally go explain to Alan Jackson the difference between Iraq and Iran: Way overdue.
