I worked for a small family-owned consulting firm; I showed up one day with a little cold, nothing more than a few sniffles. The matriarch of the family came up to me and basically said "get your sick b1tch ass self the fock out of this office now!" I think what surprised me the most was the realization that I wasn't in a corporate world anymore, where people were polite out of fear of HR if nothing else. It was that family's company, and I wasn't even an employee (1099). That family was a bit crazy. In hindsight it was a fun, if not profitable, experience. Quote
