People I hate today….Teachers.

( before you start flaming out it’s just a bit. I am tired of the whining, but I don’t really hate teachers )

 

I’m so sick of their bullshiit. First thing is “oh we don’t make any money. We don’t make any money!” No . Anyone raise their hand here or reply  If you were completely focking unaware that teachers don’t make a lot of money. Hold on I’m just scanning the message board. No everybody knows right? Then don’t get into focking teaching. 
 

“Oh, but we are so important to the upbringing of youth today”. 
 

Yeah, youre in middle management. You’re not gonna make a lot of money and yeah, there’s a lot of middle management jobs that are important too. They don’t all get three months off in the summer. 
 

Speaking of which also don’t and complain you don’t get paid when you don’t work a quarter of the year. Brought this post up because I’ve got a couple morbidly obese Iowa Corn fed elementary school teacher friends throwing up pictures laying by the pool.
I’m assuming this is not to teach anybody about water displacement, but I digress. 
 

The average public school teacher salary rose from $71,985 in 2023–24 to $74,495 in 2024–2025

i mean are you freaking kidding me. $75,000 a year to teach Johnny 2+2 and these are public schools which have generally gone to crap.

Teachers do not get three months off during the summer, they get off from 8-10 weeks (close, but not three months).  Also, teachers are usually 10-month employees and they usually do not get paid during the summer months...  Every pay check that my wife received (once a month), some money was taken out to be saved and used as summer pay during the two off months...

yup, since covid they do nothing, no homework, nothing. all lazy and fat liberals too.  my kids teachers went kn strike last year for like 5 weeks. got more money and do way less

$74K is far too much for a part time job. Teachers should make $48K maximum.

As someone who has a whole family of teachers, I generally agree that the complaints about salary are nonsensical. A lot of my teacher relatives would choose to work a summer job or were still coaching baseball etc. 

I feel like if you want the most $ possible, there are ways (I know someone who started their own pre school) but you won't really be teaching in a classroom as your day to day. If you want to do that it's because you genuinely enjoy it, love it, are passionate about it and plenty of people are okay with making less money if they genuinely love their jobs.

What state does your wife teach in?  My wife and mom both are/were teachers/administrators.  They've always gotten paid 12 months.  I mean I realize that it's annualized so it's just a matter of when you get it, but I didn't realize some states/districts did that.

I just read something some cop made almost 700,000, he worked like 3000 overtime hours, 90 total hours a week or something silly

Especially now...  Since COVID, a huge majority of the students do not know how to act, along with the parents...

No need now, she retired at the end of this past school year and will now collect her retirement pension...

She hated to quit as well as she LOVES teaching, but it just wasn't worth it to her over the past years...  More and more frustration from the students and the helicopter parents...

They get whatever they get per year.  It's just condensed in to a 10 month pay cycle.  Just like some of us get paid every other week on the same day of the week, some of us get paid twice a month on the 1st and the 15th, some people might get paid monthly.  If anything it's a benefit that teachers get paid that way because if they quit at the end of the school year they got paid a full year's pay for less than a full year's work.  Regardless, we can discuss their salary in an annual fashion even if they earn it in 10 months.  It's a FRAME OF REFERENCE to the rest of us.

The big city teachers, via numbers, control the teachers union. Thats the problem. The worst, laziest, radical teachers, as witnessed during Covid, are running the show. The good ones have very little say.

No, its not and no, they didn't. Just like you already stated a full year of work for them is the 10 months they work. If a state or district or whatever pays teachers out over 12 months vs. 10 or gives teachers the option to choose and a teacher quits at the end of the school year, they will still receive their years salary.

In Minnesota, once you account for Christmas/Easter breaks, other holidays, teacher workshops, etc, the average number of school days is 172 to 175.

Add snow days (these are called anytime more than 15 flakes fall per hour  ...........it's more like an average of 170.

I think some current teachers who want more pay fail to consider is that if you started paying teachers competitive salaries, there would be a lot more competition for those jobs.

I don't really care either but teaching jobs could, theoretically, be 12 month positions regardless of kids having summers off. Make teachers do more clerical work for year end / in preparation for the next. Give them 2 weeks off end of July/ start of august.

this is also another good point and depending on where you are looking to teach, competition is already something they complain about. my brother even took additional courses after he graduated so he could shift from history to science as there were just no history openings in decent areas.

Not during the summer, like you said... but when you factor in winter and spring breaks and all the jewish holidays it's borderline absurd how much time they get off. 

And as far as the pay checks, those who teach in states or districts where they either have to or get the choice to be paid all year are just having the district manage their money for them the way your wife was doing for herself.

As a veteran teacher...here is my issue.  31 yrs in the classroom.  When I started...after 30 years your retirement was 100%.

 

In ohio...about 10 yrs ago they changed it so at 30yrs. I would get 52% and have to buy obamacare.  I would have to teach 45 yrs for 100%.

I will probably retire at 34 yrs..to get 75%.

I cant afford to retire.  I havent made 74k a year..I started at 27k 31yrs ago.

Teachers wouldn't complain if parents weren't 90% of the problem.

We are contract employees dumbass.  We dont control the school year.  We are contracted for that many days..usually about 180 weekdays.  

Tell some inbred clueless parent that little johnny wont have summer and they will go apesh1t.

Just stop talking seriously...a room full of todays teenagers coupled with schools liberal policies would have you quit in 2 weeks

Secondly, reading comprehension. Are teachers whining about things they know about going into a job annoying? Yes but pretty clearly says in the first line. I’m just joking about it. It’s annoying, but for the most part, we love teachers.

Yeah kid I was a Ymca Director so I’ve been around hundreds of kids for lots of years coached in high school coached in college. Kids I have patience for all day. Dip shiit adults who cant read like you? No patience. 
 

And my kids don’t do summer break We do summer school with them.

I’m not a teacher. Yes in NNJ we always had off for Yom Kippur and rosh hoshanna. Guess it’s also a state and district decision. 
 

regardless if you remove Jewish holidays from my comment, doesn’t it make it invalid. Do winter and spring breaks not exist?
