I watched it on a 13 inch black and white T.V.  in the room was my great, great aunt Helen.  She was 110 years old, the first U.S. born relative, born to her mother, Rose, who was an indentured servant.  Imagine, great, great Aunt Helen was an old woman when the Wight brothers first flew.  She lived during the Civil war and through WW1, WW2, Korea, and some of Viet Nam.  She remembered the Maine and the Sapnish American war.  Born in the age of sail and steam she lived to the dawn of the space age.  She died the next day.  She said she had seen enough.     During my lifetime there have been communication and computing advances, to be sure, but I don't think of those changes as being as monumental as the changes she saw.

 

Oh, I fully expected when watching that moment that I personally would have been to space in my lifetime.  Thus far I have been wrong.

Super incredible moment for the world and the U.S. An incredible example of what this country can do when motivated. 

I've pimped it before, but for anyone that is around Orlando for vacation, add a day and check out the Kennedy Space Center, it's well worth the price of admission.  Skip the Space Dots(ice cream), not greta at all.
