Why Gibbs and Bijan only at 1.01?

Consensus 1,2 are Gibbs and Bijan…why not the other two guys…the two that finished with more fantasy points than these two last year ?

CMC, I get it.  Age and injury history.  

But what about Jonathan Taylor?  He’s 27, so still in that prime age for RBs that are big bruising backs.  No signs of regression last year.  The Colts seem to be getting better and have a top 5 offensive line according to most “experts” I’ve read.  Finally, Daniel Jones is on track to start the season and will likely not be allowed to run as much considering his injuries last year - that’s 5 rushing TDs.

Just curious why Taylor isn’t in that top two discussion?  I think he is for me now.

Mostly because you don't make current year rankings based entirely off of last years production.

Also, Taylor did not finish with more points than Gibbs or Bijan in PPR... So when you drop CMC a bit due to age/injury risk, seems pretty simple that the two young RBs in more explosive offenses with more pass catching prowess would be ranked 1 and 2.

Fair.  I play in a .5 PPR.  CMC finished 1, Taylor 2.   I do think last years usage is relevant and although he had fewer receptions, Taylor had the most carries.  I’m just saying it’s worth considering.

I would add that Taylor has a lot of wear and tear. He's been a high volume runner since college.  In the last 3 years JT has missed 10 games, Gibbs lost 2, and Bijan 0...

Look at the splits of Taylor when the Colts win v lose.  He only does well when they win.  How many games do you think they will win behind Daniel Jones coming off Achilles injury?

in PPR or even half PPR, I give a bump to players who do more damage in the pass game than those who rely on carry volume... which is what Taylor sort of is. It's easier for me to see Gibbs or Bijan replicating 75+ receptions than it is for me to see Taylor replicating 320+ carries. Granted, he had 332 the last time he played 17 games but then it is also worth noting he missed time every season in between.

CMC is a ppr dream but also 129 targets and 102 receptions are numbers he hasn't been close to since his early seasons in Carolina. His rushing average also took a nose dive. I'm not staying away but i'm not ranking him ahead of Bijan or Gibbs. 

 

Cook and Achane are going to be up there for me as well.

The top Rbs have been amazingly durable the past couple years, while top Wrs have gotten injured more often than in the past. 

Rbs have also been outscoring Wrs. The top 3 Rbs last yr averaged 385 pts, while the top 3 Wrs averaged 353 pts. They were closer in '24, though Rbs still had more. Much different than prior years when the best Wrs typically outscored the best Rbs by a wide margin. 

Sign on the times, or blip on the radar.?.  Who knows.

Because they get a lot of receptions and receiving yards. I would put Achane and Chase Brown up there close to them too, CMC obviously but I'm not interested due to his higher risk of injury and age and usage last year. Jeanty should be right up there at the top of the PPR RB rankings too.
