JagFan Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I never draft a player for their numbers in the single digit rounds! This is good info Nomad. Boutte was a beast his freshman season at LSU. He fell off his last year, then all the off field issues derailed the start of his career. We got to see flashes finally with decent production and given a chance in a depleted WR room in Houston could be a nice late round flyer. Quote

No one would disagree, with all the uncertainty at that position for the Texans he's going to get plenty of playing time, but not because of those silly numbers. Nomad99 Posted August 28 Author Posted August 28 The interesting fact was twofold.....the lesser was that Boutte & Diggs were 1&2......the more interesting fact was that Maye is THAT accurate on deep balls. If he has better protection this year more of that is coming. I'm sure Boutte is in for a better season with his new situation but my focus was on the 1&2 guys getting the deep ball from the same QB. Those types tend to make their QB look good and honestly Bouttes scouting report coming into the NFL looked a lot like Diggs did. he often outleaps bigger DB for the ball. Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying May cant throw the deep ball. he can, but it also helps having WR like Diggs and Boutte at your disposal too. any WR that can win those 50-50 Balls makes the QB look better. 1 Quote
