Fannin versus LaPorta

Laporta..I think it's closer than some others think but yeah I'd go Laporta.

fully healthy LaPorta is the better player.

and he is in a better offense.    if healthy its not close.   hes coming off of back surgery and now has a sore hip (which may or may not be related to the back thing.  sadly info on that isnt as easy to find as I'd like)

but I have occasional back problems.  and sometimes it shows in my hip before my back flares up.  not sure if its a chicken and egg thing but when it comes to issues in the midsection it is all related to some degree.  Hip, back, abdominals.

That said, Fannin is a unique talent.   as a rookie he was sharing time at the TE position and they were moving him around the formation like a chess piece.  he lined up at WR and TE.   I think he even got a couple of carries running the ball.      so the potential upside is substantial.  possibly as substantial as Laporta if he was in a good offense.

problem with him is.... hes not in a very good offense.   Cleveland is a train wreck to some degree.

given what he did last year in a backup capacity I can see  this guy getting at least 800 total yards regardless of QB.   QB was a trainwreck last year too and he still performed reasonably well in limited reps.

but the risks are high with him.  we dont know if DeSean will target him the same way either.

and if they are flip flopping at QB like I suspect they might...... this makes it hard on all the pass catchers in that offense.

I'd take LaPorta ahead of him even though his injury concerns me.

All things equal, I like Fannin better. He's like a borderline WR imo.  No QB though. 

Laporta gets the nod right now based on Det offense >>>> Cle offense and he is currently healthy.
