A Collin County jury found Karmelo Anthony guilty of murder in the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a Frisco ISD track meet, bringing an end to a closely watched trial that drew national attention and sparked debate over self-defense, race and school safety.

Anthony, now 19, had been charged in the April 2, 2025, killing of Metcalf at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco. Prosecutors argued Anthony intentionally stabbed Metcalf during an altercation between the two teenagers, while defense attorneys contended Anthony acted in self-defense.

Why make Grogu sound like a baby???  He should know some form of common by now.  The soundtrack for him sounded like a 8 month old.

Trump is bringing white South Africans to the US as refugees, but what persecution are they facing?

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) — The Trump administration is bringing a small number of white South Africans to the United States as refugees next week in what it says is the start of a larger relocation effort for a minority group who are being persecuted by their Black-led government because of their race.

The South Africans’ applications are being fast-tracked by the U.S. after President Donald Trump announced the relocation program in February.

The Trump administration has taken an anti-migrant stance, suspending refugee programs and halting arrivals from other parts of the world, including Iraq, Afghanistan and most countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

Refugee groups have questioned why some white South Africans are being prioritized.

South Africa says there’s no persecution

The South African government said the U.S. allegations that the white minority Afrikaners in question are being persecuted are “completely false,” the result of misinformation and an inaccurate view of its country. It cited the fact that Afrikaners are among the richest and most successful people in the country, and said they are amongst “the most economically privileged.”

Afrikaners are the descendants of mainly Dutch and French colonial settlers who first came to South Africa in the 17th century. There are around 2.7 million Afrikaners among South Africa’s population of 62 million, which is more than 80% Black. Many in South Africa are puzzled by claims that Afrikaners are persecuted and meet the requirements to be refugees. [...]

So what persecution is the U.S. alleging?

Farm attacks

Trump and his South African-born adviser Elon Musk have accused the South African government of having racist anti-white laws and policies, but the claims of persecution center on a relatively small number of violent farm attacks and robberies on white people in rural communities.

The U.S. alleges those attacks are racially motivated and the South African government is “fueling” them by allowing anti-white rhetoric from some political parties not in government and not doing enough to protect rural Afrikaner communities. The government strongly denies that and has condemned the farm attacks, but says their cause is being deliberately mischaracterized.

Violent attacks on farm owners in South Africa have been a problem for years but represent a small percentage of the country’s extremely high violent crime rates, which affect all races. The government says there is no targeting of white people in South Africa and no persecution, and farm attacks are part of its struggles with violent crime.

An Afrikaner group called AfriForum records farm attacks and said there were 49 farm homicides in South Africa in 2023. Those are set against a total of more than 20,000 homicides in South Africa a year. Experts say rural communities are susceptible to crime because of their remoteness and less police presence, but Black farm owners and workers are also killed in violent robberies.

President Donald Trump hit back at TV personality Stephen A. Smith, calling him an "arrogant fool" and "dumb as a rock" after the ESPN analyst criticized him earlier this week.

Trump, 79, became the first sitting president to go to an NBA Finals game when he attended the New York Knicks' matchup against the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden on Monday, June 8, requiring massive security measures and shutting down a section of Midtown Manhattan.

He was criticized by a number of lawmakers and basketball fans who highlighted the disruption his attendance caused in New York City and speculated that he fell asleep during the match after video footage appeared to show him resting his eyes, something White House spokesperson Davis Ingle previously denied in a statement to PEOPLE.

Smith, 58, was among those to comment on the president's attendance at the game, saying on ESPN's First Take on Monday that it was "selfish" and "narcissistic" of Trump to attend.

"It is ridiculous that he is coming to this game. I would say the same thing if it were Obama, George W., Clinton," said Smith, who has teased a possible presidential campaign in 2028. 

After the game, Trump told reporters that he thinks Smith is “a nice guy,” but doesn't think that he has “a high IQ.”

In response, Smith said on First Take on Tuesday, June 9, that he could "put my IQ against yours any day of the week," and asked him why he's "been running from me for the past year, since I wanted to talk to you," according to Forbes.

He said that he didn't want to let Trump "off the hook" for attending the game, claiming that his decision affected local businesses whose operations were disrupted due to the heightened security measures in place.

Smith also told Trump that the crowd was "festive, hyped and more intimidating" when he wasn't there, and made a joke about the claims that the president fell asleep, telling him, "It's clear you need your rest."

Trump responded via Truth Social shortly after, describing him as an "arrogant fool" and a "low IQ individual."

The president added, "In other words, he's 'dumb as a rock,' and totally unqualified to ever think of running for high political office, or even low political office, for that matter!"

He made reference to former President Joe Biden's poor performance in a 2024 debate, writing that it would look "great" compared to "anything that this loudmouth huckster has to offer, which isn't much!

Within a few weeks, they'd laugh him out of politics!!!" the president finished.

In my opinion......I don't care one bit about who is reading the story. Scott Pelly, Joe Schmo.  Don't care.  And guys like Pelley really believe people care what they read.  

These TV media folks really believe they are important.

Fitness icon Gilad Janklowicz, who fueled the '80s exercise boom with his ESPN show "Bodies in Motion," has died at the age of 71, Deadline reports. 

Janklowicz's death was confirmed by Jewish Life Television, which currently airs his fitness programs: "A beloved household name, an exceptional athlete, and a cherished member of the JLTV family, Gilad leaves behind an indelible legacy that transformed the fitness landscape in North America and across the globe." A cause of death has not been released, but JLTV described his death as a "sudden passing."

Born in Israel, Janklowicz — known professionally as "Gilad" — served as a fitness instructor for the Israeli military and dreamed of competing in the Olympics in the decathalon. After an injury derailed his Olympic ambitions, though, Gilad switched gears, moving to California and working as a fitness instructor in Los Angeles. There, he built a loyal following, which led to him getting his own syndicated TV show, "Gilad's Bodies in Motion," in 1983.

"Bodies in Motion" featured Gilad and a bevy of spandex-clad disciples demonstrating at-home exercise moves on the beaches of Hawaii. It became a staple of ESPN's early programming, airing there for over a decade. Stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jack LaLanne joined Gilad on his show, bringing fitness and health tips to millions of viewers. "Bodies in Motion" moved from ESPN to Fox Sports and then to a variety of networks and still airs on JLTV to this day. 

Gilad also hosted a series of workout videos and DVD sets like 2003's "Gilad's Quick Fit System" and 2007's "Gilad's Ultimate Body Sculpt." He was inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame and earned its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.

Speculation, but this could (and probably will IMO based on the number of views this story is getting) result in huge financial losses for Bricks and Minifigs nationally.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday reported that employers added 172,000 jobs in May. That figure is above the estimates of economists polled by LSEG, who predicted a gain of 85,000 jobs.
