I am looking for advice on a flex player for PPR. I have: Kerryon Johnson, Allen Robinson, James White, Curtis Samuel, Christian Kirk, and Cole Beasley. I am leaning Allen Robinson due to the Redskins matchup Monday night.
Axe Elf said:
Lotta good choices there; Samuel, Kirk and Beasley being about equal. I pimped Samuel in another similar thread, so I'll stick with him here.
Result:
Samuel: 16.3 pts (WR23)
Kirk: 15.9 pts (WR24)
Beasley: 14.8 pts (WR26)
Robinson: 12.0 pts
Kerryon: 11.3 pts
White: 0.0 pts
(Is that pinpoint accuracy or what??)

Last week [James White] didn’t do much but played a terrible team. Stands to reason he won’t get many touches or looks in the passing game when a blowout is happening. This week they get the Jets. Would u still roll the dice with him in ppr? My other options are: robbie Anderson- 3rd string qb and stingy pats d but will play from behind; Curtis Samuel- bad ari defense and backup qb, but came alive last week and can this qb be more inaccurate than cam right now? Also 3rd option after Moore/olsen; carlos Hyde- getting the touches but doesn’t catch passes and isn’t getting scoring opportunities 90 yards is only 9 points lol; oj howard- ugh. Any help would be appreciated.
Axe Elf said:
As much as I think Carlos Hyde is due for 100 and at least one TD against the Chargers (who let Marlon Mack run wild in Week 1), Curtis Samuel is probably a safer option in PPR scoring. He was targeted 13 times in Week 2, but Cam's throws were so bad he was only able to catch 5. If he gets double-digit targets against Arizona, that could easily turn into 20+ fantasy points.
Result:
Samuel: 16.3 pts
Howard: 9.6 pts
Hyde: 7.9 pts (did get his TD, though)
Anderson: 4.1 pts
White: 0.0 pts

Austin Hooper and Josh Gordon are both out there on the waiver wire. I'm thinking about adding one of them. Here's what I've got on offense:
Russell Wilson
Juju
Aaron Jones
Vance McDonald
Chubb
Marquise Brown
Josh Jacobs
Diggs
Scary Terry
AJ Green on IR
Do I stand pat with what I have or do I bail on one of the WR's I have? 1/2 point PPR.
Axe Elf said:
You should drop McDonald for Hooper.
Result:
Hooper: 21.6 pts
Gordon: 11.4 pts
McDonald: 1.5 pts

I picked up McDonald after last week’s game and I have the option of either holding on to Howard or dropping him and picking up Olsen. Thoughts?
Axe Elf said:
McDonald uses butter for gloves, and Olsen is the first TE in NFL history to post back-to-back-to-back 1000 yard seasons, so what do YOU think?
Result:
Olsen: 25.5 pts
Howard: 9.6 pts
McDonald: 2.0 pts

Playing the top scoring team and need to maximize. Have Greg Olsen as WR/TE flex, Have Cory Davis as WR/RB flex. Bench RB's: Carlos Hyde, L. Murray; Bench WR's: Robby Anderson, Pettis. Should I use Hyde over Davis & is Olsen the best option over Anderson or Pettis?
Axe Elf said:
I would use Hyde over Davis, yes, and the way the Cardinals have been giving up points to opposing TEs, Olsen is definitely the guy over Anderson and Pettis.
Result:
Hyde: 7.9 pts (PPR & Std)
Davis: 7.4 pts (PPR), 4.4 pts (Std)
Olsen: 25.5 pts (PPR), 19.5 pts (Std)
Pettis: 12.0 pts (PPR), 8.0 pts (Std)
Anderson: 4.1 pts (PPR), 1.1 pts (Std)

Olsen with new qb or Andrews in the rain
Axe Elf said:
Probly won't be raining that much, but Andrews is a little gimpy, and Olsen is playing the team that allowed Andrews to look good last week--so Olsen.
Result:
Olsen: 25.5 pts
Andrews: 4.5 pts

So - i have Carr and Cousins.. Cam was cut this morning.. Available QBs: Cam, Minshew, dan jones, case keenum... just stand pat and go Cousins?
Axe Elf said:
I'd drop both your current QBs and pick up both Minshew and Jones. Minshew might do better for the next couple of weeks, just because he has a couple of solid regular season game experiences under his belt already, but he may only play until Foles returns, while Jones will play for the rest of the year and has looked amazing in his limited preseason action, so he's probably the better long-term add. Both should be upgrades over your current QBs.
Result:
Daniel Jones: 34.2 pts
Gardner Minshew: 18.0 pts
Derek Carr: 16.7 pts
Kirk Cousins: 12.6 pts

McLaurin, Hardman and Demarcus Rob on waivers. Thinking of a better option since Evans is crapping the bed. Which one?
Axe Elf said:
I probably wouldn't drop Evans for any of them, but I think it's really odd that McLaurin is still a free agent in your league. He's by far the best long-term option of the three, but it's too early to give up on a perennial 1000 yard WR like Evans. Can't you drop a backup TE or QB or something?
Result:
Mike Evans: 45.0 pts
Terry McLaurin: 19.0 pts
Mecole Hardman: 18.4 pts
Demarcus Robinson: 13.3 pts

McLaurin... although if Alshon Jeffery is eventually ruled out, that would tilt the scales toward Agholor.

(Alshon Jeffery was eventually ruled out.)
Agholor: 23.0 pts
McLaurin: 19.0 pts
Ross: 2.2 pts

Who would you start? Conner at SF or Gore vs Cinn; Hilton vs Atl or Agholor vs Det
Axe Elf said:
Gore, and with Jeffery and Jackson inactive, Agholor.
Result:
Gore: 16.9 pts (PPR), 14.9 pts (Std)
Conner: 7.7 pts (PPR), 3.7 pts (Std)
Agholor: 23.0 pts (PPR), 15.0 pts (Std)
Hilton: 20.5 pts (PPR), 12.5 pts (Std)

Need to drop someone for a kicker. Should I drop [Darwin] Thompson to play Gore, drop Gore to play Thompson, or drop Tevin Coleman?
Axe Elf said:
Drop the third-stringer Thompson. Easy call.
Result:
Gore: 16.9 pts
Thompson: 0.8 pts

Lost AB so need to pick up another WR. Best on the wire are: DK Metcalf, Deebo Samuel, Terry McLaurin
Axe Elf said:
You already have Pettis, so there would be no point in getting the competing Samuel (who I would probably rank 3rd of the 3 anyway). Metcalf will probably have some good games, but at best, he's still WR1b to Tyler Lockett, so I'd probably go with McLaurin, who appears to be the best WR on the Redskins' team by a significant margin.
Result:
Terry McLaurin: 13.0 pts
D.K. Metcalf: 6.7 pts
Deebo Samuel: 4.4 pts
Thank you, Axe Elf!

James Connor is hurt but looks like he might play. I have Marian Mack and Lenard Fournette. Which two would you play. LF plays tonight. PR league I also have Christian McCaffrey but I'm definitely going today him. Who do I play for flex
Axe Elf said:
Since Christian McCaffrey is the only one whose name you spelled correctly, you about have to start him. I think I'd be starting Mack and Fournette over a gimpy Conner when we don't really know what the Steelers are going to look like going forward with Rudolph at the helm.
Result:
McCaffrey: 27.8 pts
Mack: 16.8 pts
Fournette: 15.2 pts
Conner: 7.7 pts

Axe Elf said:
Freeman. Pitt is kind of in disarray right now, and they could lean heavily on Jaylen to protect Conner's knee.

Freeman: 12.5 pts (PPR), 9.5 pts (Std)
Conner: 7.7 pts (PPR), 3.7 pts (Std)

Hollywood Brown vs KC or Ridley vs IND?
Axe Elf said:
I think Brown is the play here too. The Ravens have been feasting on poor pass defenses, and the Chiefs are next up in that line--with an offense that is sure to keep their fire lit.
Result:
Brown: 6.9 pts
Ridley: 1.6 pts
Thank you, Axe Elf!

Tyler Lockett or Calvin Ridley this weekend? Standard scoring...
Axe Elf said:
Lockett wasn't needed in Week 1, but he came back with 10 catches on 12 targets in Week 2--that's almost a RB's share of touches. I'm going with Lockett against New Orleans.
Result:
Tyler Lockett: 21.4 pts
Calvin Ridley: 0.6 pts

John Brown or Julian Edelmann? I'm leaning Brown. I think the Bengals are going to put up some points and Singletary is out, limiting the bills run game, so they will air it out. Allen over threw Brown on a bomb last week where he was wide open. Edelmann is going to eat but he has a low ceiling.
Axe Elf said:
I'd go with Edelman in PPR
