Vor 0 Posted March 13, 2012 Boss' agent, Scott Smith, tweeted Monday night that the Raiders told him Boss will be released Tuesday and become an unrestricted free agent. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported the deal earlier. Boss signed a $16 million, four-year contract last summer to replace Pro Bowl tight end Zach Miller. The deal included $6 million guaranteed, including $4 million in 2011 and $2 million in 2012, a league source told Schefter. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7677959/agent-says-oakland-raiders-plan-release-kevin-boss
Giants Fan 85 Posted March 13, 2012 What TE problem? Giants fixed the TE problem when they let Shockey walk. Mannings have a way of making any TE look good. There simply is really no drop off from Boss to Ballard. That's why it was easy to let Boss go. He was a product of the system moreso than a talented pass catching TE. Believe me, Giants have been looking for a stud TE since Bavaro. If they had one in Boss, they wouldn't have let him go in the first place. Same goes for Shockey. Vor 0 Posted March 14, 2012 the TE problem is that there top two options are question marks for the start of the season.. sounds like a problem to me Looks like they favor Bennett over Boss, if that doesn't work out(too much $$) I'm good with boss for a small 2yr contract. We just need someone credible at that position, and both Boss/Ballard give us that.. would be nice if we had a Gronk type player but the way that Offense is run the WR's are the real threats. http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/2012/03/bennett-could-be-the-boss-at-tight-end
Giants Fan 85 Posted March 16, 2012 But .... look at the Superbowl. Ballard was out ... Beckum was out ... all of a sudden Bear Pascoe can catch the ball. It's the system, stupid. And he doesn't mind blocking. Any guy named Bear, usually likes to block. I don't see it as some gaping need for the offense. What the Giants need right now, is a RB, that can pass block as well as Jacobs.
