NCNickNasty 0 Posted August 21, 2006 So Portis slipped to me at #7 in my draft. As happy as I am I am still sceptical about him recovering to 100% at any time this season. I didn't draft a TE till very late and have Pollard, who I am not thrilled about even though the rest of my team is really solid. I am trying to get him to throw in Deangelo Williams as a handcuff and a throw in from my team. I am a panthers homer so is my view skewed in thinking this could be a really good deal for me? So here is what I got offered. I give him: Portis TJ Housh I get: Deshaun Foster Roy Williams WR Ben Watson

Me_2006 14 Posted August 22, 2006 No way man. You'd have to be crazy. Portis went #4 in my league but I traded to get him later to pair him with LJ in my backfield. If you're worried about Portis being injured then you REALLY should avoid Foster and Williams. That guy is trying to rob you blind just because Portis got nicked up in preseason action. Don't take the trade, you'd be downgrading at both positions and Watson isnt a substantial upgrade at TE.
NCNickNasty 0 Posted August 22, 2006 I don't really see housh for roy williams as a downgrade. I am just scared portis will not be 100% all year. I am a carolina homer so maye thats why this trade appeals to me. I do think Watson will have a good year. I know foster has the injury bug but he will be huge when healthy and deangelo takes over those numbers if foster does get hurt. I don't see it as me getting raped at all. Me_2006 14 Posted August 22, 2006 If you're worried about injuries though, then you surely don't want Williams over Housh. Williams was drafted high and has been all hype like the rest of the Lions WR's. Housh has a proven QB in a proven offense with a proven running game. Portis is about 3 times more valuable than Foster too, Foster is a #3 back in most leagues or a #2 in some bigger leagues on teams that focused on WR's early on. Keep Portis because he's a true #1 fantasy RB and with Al Saunders in Washington now, he's due for a HUGE year. It wouldn't make ANY sense to trade a #1 RB with MINOR injury concerns for a #3 back that's never played a full season or probably even had 1,000 yds and that now has a rookie first round pick splitting his carries with him. hadji 0 Posted August 22, 2006 There's no way I would do that deal. If you're worried about injuries to your RB, then DeShaun Foster would be quite possibly the worst RB to get in return. I think Portis will be fine and he is far better than anything you're going to get in return due to his injury. Although I would advise against it, if you want to unload Portis you're going to have to wait til he gets back on the field if you want to get anything decent in return. I don't think Watson is that much of an upgrade over Pollard, or at least not enough to be a factor in this trade proposal. shake_a_leg 0 Posted August 22, 2006 NOOOOO!!!! I'm trying to find the correct wording for this... Yeah, Portis is hurt. Yeah, his injury will likely nag him all season. BUT...he's Clinton Portis. One big factor in Portis' game that people (including myself) overlook is that last season he lost 9 TD's to Mike Sellers. It was pointed out in a post on the main board earlier that last season, in 16 touchdowns from inside the 5 yard line, Portis only had 5....and yet he still ended up a top 5 RB. And that was last year. They've made changes to the offense. As long as he stays healthy, you've got to stay with Portis. And to trade Portis for Foster? Foster is more injury-prone than Portis! Any weakness you might have at TE is vastly offset by having Portis on your team. Go out and grab Joe Klopfenstein off waivers...nobody ever drafts him and he'll give you good results.
