Only 7 rushing TDS for Rice?

Was listening to Mike and Mike this morning and they had Matt Berry on. They were discussing Rice and he had an interesting fact that he said will make it into one of his articles this week... Ray Rice actually led the Ravens in goalline carries in 2010 and had more goalline TDs than McGahee (4 to 3).

Keep my RB depth or trade for WR1

AJ, Roddy, Calvin, Nicks, Fitz, and Bowe were all kept, along with a few other mid-range guys. I had lost my 2nd rounder for keeping McFadden and wasn't going to take Wayne or Jennings with my first rounder, so I went with Mendenhall (best available RB). I also have Welker, Amendola (both PPR gold) and Britt (suspension maybe) and AJ Green (terrible QB situation). Britt and Green have upside but likely won't contribute in the first few weeks. I'm leaning towards riding it out until I see how much I will get out of AJ or Britt

Keep my RB depth or trade for WR1

In my PPR, I'm not confident with my WR corps (Mike Wallace as my #1), but I lucked out and ended up with some good RB depth: Felix, Benson, Fred Jackson, Beanie Wells (Mendenhall and McFadden as starters). Based on our projected scoring, I have 7 Top 35 RBs. Nobody else has more than 4. Considering a package deal to trade some of my RB depth to upgrade at WR. Thoughts? Should I just stick with it and let the RBs carry me (pun intended) or trade from my strength? Wallace put up WR1 numbers, but isn't as much of a slam dunk in a PPR. (We start 2 RBs and have 2 flex spots; so at most, I can start 4 of the 7)

Draft Strategy - 10 team, 2 QB, PPR

My draft was last Sunday...Here's how my draft shook out in the first few rounds...I decided to go strong at QB and WR...two guys went HEAVY on the RBs, so I'm going to try and work a deal...If I had to roll with Jackson, Best and Greene, it's not terrible, but could be stronger. I did end up stealing Benson and Daniel Thomas late, so they definitely help round out my RB depth. No clear #1 RB, just a mix of #2s and 3s; but I have 2 #1 QBs which makes up for it. I would highly suggest grabbing 2 QBs in the first 4 picks. Not everybody read the draft right, and we have teams with Colt McCoy, Donovan McNabb and Mark Sanchez as starters. Not the best approach, in my opinon. 1- Rodgers 2- Calvin 3- Romo 4- SJax 5- Mike Williams TB 6- Jahvid 7- Shonn Greene 8- Brandon Lloyd

    Dynasty pick

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but if you ONLY have Hasselbeck on the roster and start 2 QBs and the only QBs available are Orton and the rookies, I think you have to go with Orton. Newton will likely start, but the other rookies will probably start the year at #2, barring preseason injury. It would be suicide to start the season with just Hasselbeck and your 2nd QB spot filled by a rookie you're hoping will start. I think you have to go Orton (or maybe trade the pick for a QB and grab Newton later in the round).

    Sidney Rice.....

I agree that some players are undervaluing this. I did a bunch of mocks this morning and had him fall to me in 2 of them in the 8th round. Ahead of that, I'm not sure he's worth it. If you have to count on him as your WR2, you better have a top flight WR3 just to hedge your bet

Is Julio Jones faster/quicker than Roddy White

So is Usain Bolt I LOVE Julio. I have him on my targets list for the 8th round, but I fear that may be too late now. I'm hoping my league mates weren't watching that sweet end around they gave him

    Preseason Standouts

This doesn't have much fantasy value for this year or the near future, but Stephen McGee impressed me. He did well last preseason and did well in mop-up duty at the end of 2010. I'm a Cowboys fan ( ) and have to admit, he reminds me of Romo a few years ago. Athletic, gun-slinger type approach; he's got that "shoot first, ask questions later" mentality. He does make mistakes (like Romo), but makes up for it with big play ability. I've heard rumors that Romo is on a short leash (I disagree), so if he doesn't get it done this year, Jerry may look for a new starter in 2012.

Let's rank some middle round WR talent...

I agree. I live near Rutgers and saw just about every snap he played in college and the kid is very talented. But his head just isn't there. And he's obviously a problem off the field. As for the others, I'm liking Santonio and Amendola this year. I play PPR, so Amendola is on my list higher than some others, but even in standard he's not a terrible backup. As for Santonio, he had a good year last year (extrapolated to 16 games, 65/932/8). In a deep league, I'm comfortable with him as my WR2. In a 10-team, I'll grab him to fill my flex spot.

    Name Game

In terms of value, I like this order. In terms of sheer production, I'm not sold on Fitz beating out White and AJ.

    Hightower or Torrain

Two words: Olandis Gary (Or Mike Anderson. Or Ruben Droughns. Or Tatum Bell. Or Selvin Young) Stay away from drafting Shanahan RBs! From 98-08, the Broncos had 7 different leading rushers (Davis, Gary, Anderson, Davis, Portis, Portis, Droughns, Anderson, Bell, Young, Hillis) Once we're in season and see who he is favoring, then they are worth a waiver pick-up, but I wouldn't draft any of them.

    Another Vick thread

If you're all in on Vick, why not grab VY at the end of the draft and play the waiver wire if need be. If you're in a 10-team league, you could probably grab somebody like McNabb or Sanchez to matchup play as a fill-in for a week if Vick is out and VY just isn't getting it done. My thought would be that not drafting Cutler, Eli, etc in the mid-rounds will make one of your other positions stronger. Use that 8th rounder to get somebody like Julio Jones that has upside instead of a QB who MAY play more than 1 game. I would rather be weak at 1 position (and in a standard scoring league, QB is weaker as it is) for 1 week than dilute my depth for 16 weeks at another position. (Also, FYI the Giants have the same bye as Philly, so Eli may not be a good choice if you do decide to draft a legit backup) EDIT: Obviously, if Vick misses e x t e n d e d time, you're in trouble without a bonafide backup. On the flip side, if he plays 14 games, and you didn't waste a draft pick on Cutler, you may very well win your league. Go big or go home right?

    Touchbacks

I was thinking, maybe we'll see more surprise onside kicks. As bored and tired fans are of seeing touchbacks through the uprights, the receiving team may be equally bored. If you notice they aren't really paying attention and have become complacent, try the surprise onside kick. Also, you're now 5 yards further away from the endzone, so if you mess up the onside kick, the other team doesn't automatically start in field goal range.

Draft Strategy - 10 team, 2 QB, PPR

Thankfully I don't think everybody has picked up on the importance of QB. I've heard rumblings from the owners in front of me about who they're looking at and it's all been RBs (Foster, Rice, Charles, etc). I think there's a pretty good chance the top 6 taken are all RBs. Obviously you never know until draft day, but my fingers are crossed
