Kick/Punt Return Specialists

Yo people, quick question for ya. My leage gives 1 point for every 10 return yards & 6pts for return touchdowns. A lot of people in my league are overlooking this scoring tidbit, and I suspect that WR's & DB's who return both kickoffs & punts, even if that's all they do, will be some of the top scorers in both the WR & DB category (yes, I play in an IDP league). I'm willing to bet Wes Welker will be the top scoring receiver in our league.

So, I've got Justin Miller & Allen Rossum on my team since they both put up fantastic points last year as DB's. However, I'm considering dropping Chris Chambers for Bobby Wade. I currently have Javon Walker, Deion Branch & Chris Chambers as my 3 WR's and we can start 2 of them (1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2DL, 2LB, 2DB, 1 any Defensive player, 1 Kicker).

If you were me, would you drop Chambers & pick up Bobby Wade since Wade will return kickoffs as well? What about dropping Chambers for TJ Rushing instead? Rushing will be returning both punts & kickoffs for Indy. Or, what about that guy Travis from Cleveland who is supposed to be returning punts & kickoffs? I'm going off of this article:

BTW, WR's receive 1 pt for 20 receiving yards, 1 pt for a catch, 6pts for a touchdown. Again, every 10 return yards are granted 1 point, and a return touchdown is 6pts.

Thanks for the help!

The 1 point per 20 yards receiving will kill the benefit of the kick return yards.

I had Welker on my team last year with KR yards and 1 per 10 WR yards and he finished about #20 overall. He was guaranteed about 8-10 points per week, but never went above 12-15 pts.

I guess if you could fit a guy in at DB, you might be ok, but I wouldn't count on any WR pts.

Well, I'd rather take 1pt per 10 return yards over 1 pt per 20 receiving yards.....b/c, I'd get more points, especially if the returner is returning both punts and kick returns. Good kick returners average, what, 75 return yards a game or so? That's 7-8 points. A receiver would need 140+ receiving yards to match that.

Only difference is TD's. I'm just not sure that someone like Chris Chambers will score as many points as someone like Bobby Wade who (although Vikings pass offense sucks) will return kicks as well as be the #1/2 receiver in the Minnesota offense. Bobby Wade will rack up more points via catches & return yards....but Chambers will probably have more TD's.

I haven't read anything that Travis will return punts & kickoffs - I think that is a misprint. He has not been doing it in preseason.

Cribbs will return punts and kickoffs unless Barclay makes the team. If Barclay makes the team, he will at least share kickoff returns with Cribbs.

I played in a league one year where there was 1 pt per 10 yards returning and the winner only played returners for most of the year and we had 1 pt per 10 yards receiving so unless I'm missing something you should plan on playing kick returners
