The Steelers - Skins MNF game might predict the presidential elections

I didn't know there were so many Joe Six Packs, Mavericks, and Joe the Plumber's on this board. Steelers / Tomlin 08

    Singletary's 49er press conference

I'm still waiting for the lame joke where Singletary's fantasy team was going up against the guy who had Davis.

    Dominic Rhodes

I picked up Rhodes but I'm going to sit him for R. Bush, B. Jacobs, and M. Forte.

    Pick 3

Right now I've got Jacobs, Johnson, and Forte. I'm playing Jacobs for sure, and I really like the matchup for Johnson. I guess it boils down to playing Bush or Forte. What are your thoughts?

    Need to replace Balitmore Def

Buffalo is the team I ended up picking. I worded this topic weirdly. I didn't mean for it to turn into a team management question, as I've already made the decision. I did however want to start a sort of week 2 matchup defense thread since I haven't seen one created yet. These 2 teams popped out at me as they both seem like good matchups and additionally they both might be on the waivers for some leagues.

    Need to replace Balitmore Def

I have Baltimore's defense and I am now looking for a replacement def this week. I was looking at Buf or Ari. I haven't watched either of these teams play at all in either the pre-season or week 1, so I am looking for a little advice. Who do you think is the better week 2 pick, and why?

Anyone not worth having on my team...........?

Well it seems like you have alot of depth already so it kind of depends on if there is anyone worth picking up. Personally I never like to have more than 1 kicker, TE, or DEF on my team. Unless one of your guys is on a bye or there is a particularly good matchup for a week I don't see the point in having 2 of the aforementioned positions. That could free up 1 or 2 of your bench spots if you were interested in picking somebody up.

Need help with my 3rd WR

    R. Brown has been dragging my team down, but I haven't really been affected by it yet as I've won my first 2 games. I think after 2 lackluster performances and Mcnabb playing dirtball right now it's time to try one of my bench guys but what do you think? If i had to vote I'd go with the sleeper pick of Roydell Williams, the NO def has been playing pretty poorly. Thanks for the help and leave a link so I can give you my opinion on your questions.

    Romo or Favre

The general consensus seems to be Favre will blow up against the Giants, but will he outscore my main man Romo by enough points to be worth the risk of another dissappointing performance? I'm a numbers man, so I'll help start the discussion. What should we consider a break out performance? I'd say top 6. Last week top 6 numbers were 42.9, 34.7, 30.6, 30.3, 29.5, 27.3. That average comes out to be 32.55. With 32 starting QB's, just picking randomly, Favre would be in the top 6 about 19%, let's round it to 20% for easy math. So vs. the G-men, I'd think Favre's chances to crack the top 6 are higher than 20%, but what % exactly? Maybe 50%, or is that too high. Maybe 40%. Some assumptions: 40% top 6 30% 7-12 25%13-26 5% bottom 6 Now let's find Favre's expected Fantasy points. top 6: (32.55 points) 7-12 ( 20.23 points) 13-26 ( 10.1 points) bottom 6 ( 2.78) .4 * 32.55 + .3 *20.23 + .25*10.1 + .05 * 2.78 = 13.02 + 6.07 + 2.52 + .14 = 21.75 fantasy points That seems pretty good, but that leaves me a 30% chance to basically come away with 3 fantasy points or less. Do you think Romo will have similar assumptions or better/worse? If you don't understand how I did the math, don't worry, but just give your opinions on Favre's or Romo's chances to obtain a certain scoring teir.

    What are your favorite commercials

There is a post complaining about the amount commercials during NFL games. Perhaps there are, but I still think a hilarious commercial is a beautiful thing. Here are a couple of my faves: 1. My favorite last week was that fantasy rule #something, don't miss your leagues draft. Basically there are a few guys at a fantasy football draft talking with their friend (on speakerphone) who can't make it. They are berating him for a good 20 seconds and tell him there is no good reason for missing the draft, and it shifts to the guy at his wedding on the phone. My favorite part is when one of the guys scream at him, "You get who we give you!", then hangs the phone up by slamming his head on the receiver. I missed my draft this year, so I could relate. 2. I believe these are the same guys from the previous commercial, but in this one they are watching some player on TV. One of the guys is saying verbatum what the player will say before he says it. Then at the end he screams boo at his neighbor and it freaks him out. Thought it was classic. You guys got any?

The Pats Fine and Forfeited Draft Pick(s)

People think this penalty is too low because they can't get it out of their heads that it's against the pats. I agree with you that this probably won't effect the pats as much as some other teams, but here's the deal: this punishment is also setting a precedent. That means any other team that gets caught doing this will be penalized at least just as much, but most likely harder. Think about taking a first round pick away from a troubled team that needs it, now it sounds a little bit harsher.
  12. I think pittsburgh has a great all around team this year. A healthy big ben, 2 quality recievers who aren't greedy, a big TE who big ben can find in the endzone, and a solid defense. Not to mention a sharp looking new coach. I don't see a low scoring affair unless pittsburgh is playing the pats who probably stole their signals 3 seasons ago when the stillers blew them out of the water and ended that 20 something win streek when big ben was a rook. but seriously, this has nothign to do with the pics but i see pittsburgh winning the division outright with something like 10+ wins. chalk it up.
  13. could not be more wrong. plax is feast or famine. yah last week he was feast, but this week he will either have his backup qb throwing or manning with a hurt shoulder, not to mention a packers def that is like 20x better than how dallas played last week. i honestly don't see plax putting up amazing numbers, maybe 10-12 max, if hes lucky. i like holmes alot in this matchup. we just saw big ben throw 4 tds last week, so he's pretty confident. look for big ben to throw what's given to him. since ward is going to be the bills main priority, look for holmes to score at least 1td, chance for a mulitple td game, and a ton of yards. he's good for at least 1 deep ball for sure. and they are in pittsburgh. i like fitzgerald, but i don't like leinart. he'll come around, but not in 1 game. fitzgerald's stock is low until i see some production from leinart. look for them to lean on edge again this week. so i'd start holmes and plax. i like the odds for holmes to have a breakout game, and plax does have a shot at putting up some numbers, unlike fitzgerald.

    help with my starters

Romo or Farve? My gut says Farve. I see him lighting up that NYG Def. How good is Miami's secondary anyway?

    2 part question

One of the tougher questions. I'm personally starting Lamont as my flex but it's not over a back like Deuce. The previous poster had it right with stats. Denver gave up 90 and a TD, against Buffalo. I like the raiders run game more than I like Buffalo's. Also, I think Culpepper is getting the nod. If he shows up, then Lamont is going to benefit. If he's rusty, then Denver doesn't need to worry about the throw and Lamont will suffer. Since I'm banking on Culpepper showing up, I also think Lamont will put up more points than Deuce, who has to split carries with an explosive RB in Bush. There's a good shot Bush has a spectacular follow up game to an abysmal season opener. He'll be looking to light a much needed spark for his team.
