Large Roster Dynasty Leagues-How Big is Too Big?
waxg replied to Matt Mueller's topic in FFToday Board
I think that's way too many roster spots. There's gotta be some strategy to who you keep and who you dump and there should be an equalizing factor for great teams. If you have a lot of great players, I don't think you should be able to stash a bunch of future greats too. Having a smaller roster gives the bad teams an opportunity to compete by thinking about waiver buys for next year. We have 12 teams, we start 10 players (including team defense). Our roster is 18 only, plus one taxi spot (which we call the franchise tag) Every year some players that get drafted get dumped early when they under-perform. This gives smart waiver wire teams the opportunity to make smart buys for next year. (For instance last year, Markus Wheaton and Cordarelle Patterson were dropped early as busts. The team who picked them up has great value for this year). -
Auction Strategy: Nominate the guys you want or hold back?
waxg replied to BTL99's topic in FFToday Board
I don't really see the panic happening. Always better to nominate players you don't want. Until you are down to the guys who you fear might not generate a $2 bid. The longer it takes for your players to get nominated, the less money is out there to compete with. My only exception is kickers. Nobody is thinking about kickers early. Sometime in the mid rounds, be the first or second person to nominate the best kicker for $2. Nobody will bid $3. If you wait until the end of the draft when others are all drafting kickers, you will get a few $2 bids on the $1 players you nominate... I think it's worth the extra $1 to get a great one. The rest are unpredictable. -
Auction Strategy: Anyone ever spend all their money on 4 players?
waxg replied to BTL99's topic in FFToday Board
I'm in an auction dynasty league ($200 budget). Tried something close to it for the first time this year. You be the judge: QB1 Peyton Manning ($17, keeper) RB1 Adrian Peterson ($40, keeper) RB2 Arian Foster ($51, keeper) WR1 Vincent Jackson ($26, keeper) WR2 Miles Austin ($6, draft) WR3 Golden Tate ($9, keeper) FLEX (RB/WR/TE) Emmanuel Sanders ($6, draft) TE Brandon Myers ($4, draft) K Gostkowski ($2, draft) DST Giants ($2, draft) BENCH QB Jay Cutler ($2, draft) RB Ben Tate ($8, keeper) RB Benjarvis Green-Ellis ($5, draft) RB Danny Woodhead ($5, draft) WR Justin Blackmon ($11, draft) TE Ed Dickson ($1, draft) TE Julius Thomas ($3, draft) DST Rams ($2, draft) -
I'd like to target two Tier 2 DSTs rather than spending top dollars for the supposed top Ds Last year I bought GB and Seattle Ds for $3 each and played the matchups (until Seattle got good enough to start every week). Which are those teams this year? Cleveland? Houston (a lot of experts seems to like) Giants (I hear they are looking good) New England (they have been rebuilding D through the draft) Bengals? (reading a lot about new D coach) Buccs? Anyone have any real knowledge about this? Which teams do you recommend after Seattle and SF are off the board

Tier 7 WRs - who is most likely to break out as a #1 or #2 WR?

Also kept. Trust me, the guys on my list are the best available. -

not available, also being kept by the champ. -

All gone. Assume they are being kept if you don't see them here. The next guys ranked on the list are not part of this group (Patterson, Edelman, DHB, Andre Roberts) -

He's a keeper for the defending champ. Otherwise he'd be on the list. Any others pique your interest? -
I'm in a unique auction dynasty league where 75 players are being kept before draft day and stud options are limited. I am looking great with AP, Foster, and Peyton all locked in, and I've got some other good players in other positions. Bottom line is that I won't have much money to play with on draft day, but I need to buy 1 WR in the $8-$15 range who can serve as my #2 WR. (My other WRs right now are V Jax and Golden Tate). Here are the guys who will be available and who I may be able to afford. I want to decide pre-draft which guy to go after. All of the prices on these guys will be inflated because of the limited options. Who should it be? And why? Miles Austin (been burned by his injuries before, so not a huge fan) Kenny Britt (seems to have huge upside, but I don't know alot about him) Lance Moore (he always sells for too much for his value I think) Emmanuel Sanders (Love the upside, but a lot of people down on Steelers this year) Reuben Randle (He's a #3 if Hakeem and Cruz healthy, but if not, he could post good #s) Kendall Wright (injured now?) Brian Hartline (seems to always outplay his projections) DeAndre Hopkins (raw rookie with concussion issues already) Justin Blackmon (maybe good value, but will I lose the league before he comes back?) Kendrell Thompkins (after lastnight's game I don't think he's gonna be cheap anymore) Appreciate all opinions.

so basically you have no consensus

Who are you drafting now that you weren't a month ago?
waxg replied to Matt Mueller's topic in FFToday Board
Miles Austin. He has disappointed so much, his ADP might actually be low enough to make me buy him. -
Who is the offensive rookie we're all over looking?
waxg replied to tikigods's topic in FFToday Board
This is the kind of thread that really helps. THANKS! -
I have a funny feeling about Sanders. I think he's going to get a lot of the balls Wallace used to get. I'm buying him late.

Got Foster locked in at $51 and Tate locked in at $8 (auction, dynasty league). BOOM.

Vincent Jackson, Reggie Wayne or Danny Amendola
waxg replied to Wil Infamous's topic in FFToday Board
Fair point. Actually, in my league Wayne's and Jackson's numbers were almost identical: 16th and 17th overall WRs. And Hilton's and Williams' numbers were almost identical (24th and 25th best WRs). My point is that Williams has already peaked. His days of being a #1 WR are gone. Jackson is in his prime and the clear #1 target. Hilton is emerging as a future star. By year's end he may outscore Wayne. That should definitely factor in.
