    Draft Strategy: Analysis/Critique

For all practical purposes, Brady should not be around by the 9th pick. But if he is, by all means take him. I would think that either P. Manning and/or Romo would be an option. What I’ve been seeing, a lot of drafts are shying away from P. Manning as the 2nd QB off the board. The truth being told… sitting in a wheelchair he will throw over 25 TD’s. Romo is my question… ranked 2nd in many places, but I’m still not sure. Never the less… with the 9th pick, I’d go best of the top 3 QB’s and the best WR on the board. If Brady, P. Manning and Romo are gone… go WR WR RB RB TE QB (in that order). The league my wife is in has 10 teams, she picked 5th and I helped her with her draft (her 1st year). I used the drafting order mentioned above and she ended up with a kick A** team. If my chance you end up with Moss and TO or Reggie Wayne, that "should" spook the rest of your league into jumping on WR's in the 3rd round, leaving you with good RB options for your 3/4 round picks. If you go RB, RB - there will not be any top tier WR left by your 3/4 picks. My league is only 8 teams so it’s completely different. I’m sure you have heard it over and over again…. But DO NOT draft a PK or DEF until that last 2 or 3 rounds. It’s very difficult to hold out filling in your primary roster, but it will be worth it in the long run. There are enough PK’s and DEF’s to go around and you really never know which one will end up on top before it’s all over and done with. I believe it’s much more important to cover your WR, WR, RB, RB bye weeks then ANY PK or DEF on the board. If you happen to get a QB that does not have an 8th week bye, look real close at HOU’s QB as your back-up. He should still be around in the late rounds of a 10 team league and I believe he will be a pleasantly surprising sleeper this year. One more gut feeling is to get Denver’s Marshall even with the 2 – 3 games suspension (outstanding 3rd WR if there). He will still end up a top 5 receiver this year and will get overlooked because of missing a couple games due to suspension. Football as a whole is moving more and more towards the air, don't end up in 3 or 4 place because your one of those owners that still believe in RB RB.

    Kitna vs. Cutler

Jay is by far the better QB and Marshall will prove to be a top 5 WR by the end of this year. The only real down side is, because of the way Denver runs their game plan, Jay may never throw more then 25 TD's (which isn't that bad). You say that Marshall is the only receiver Jay has... but what about Sheffler. I believe Denver's TE will also be a top 5 player at his position this year. Young is also a receiving option, though fairly short. All in all, I'd never put much weight in any of the Lion's players. They are just not reliable FF options.

    8 team league drafting?

As stated in the topic title, I'm in an eight team league... typical scoring for TD's, rushing, and receptions. I pick 2nd, 15th, 18th, 31st, 34th and 41st in the 1st 6 rounds. I know the number one pick is going to be P. Manning so I plann to take L. Johnson with my 1st pick and then: 2nd RND: best RB 3rd RND: best WR 4th RND: best WR here is where I'm not sure.... the way the talk between the other team owners is going, the 3rd round is going to be a push for their QB's I'm thinking of taking A. Gates with my 5th round pick and then QB with my 6th round pick. Being a Broncos fan - ending up with Jake wouldn't bother me much, but it's about 50 - 50 if he's going to end up a sleeper or bust from what I've been reading. and to ask one final question... in the last round I planned on picking D. Williams as a sleeper RB pick (if no one else has). Any help would be greatly appreciated
