    Which QB to Start?

    McNabb has been good to me the first 2 weeks, but I like the sound of Vick against N.O.

    Owner Quits 4 days before Draft

    Reading through this thread causes me to draw the conclusion that "the guy" made the right decision to drop out. Spending a whole season with the mentality represented by many of these juvenile posts would keep me away also.

    * Cheatsheet Compiler/Draft Buddy *

    Never mind, Mike. I just saw the answer in a thread on the CS/DB forum.

    Tony Kornheiser

    The fact that TK doesn't know football enough to talk detail X's and O's is a plus as far as I'm concerned. We're not football players watching films; we're spectators. I enjoy sports shows but I immediately turn the channel when they get out on their studio "mini-field" to demonstrate blocking techniques or defensive coverage schemes. I really enjoyed Kornheiser's radio show and hate it when he's absent from PTI - once he gets a few weeks under his belt, I think he'll settle in and do a great job.

    * Cheatsheet Compiler/Draft Buddy *

    Mike - Sorry if this is another one of those "I shoulda figured it out on my own" questions, but.... When I purchased CC/DB about a week ago, I downloaded version 1.5d. The title of this thread suggests that 1.5e was released a few days ago. Do I just download again? (Your answer may lead to another question). Thanks in advance for your help.

    Need internet hook-up during draft?

    Hi James, I'm a rookie at CC/DB myself, but I can tell you that it is not necessary to be connectd to the internet to use the software during the draft. You do, of course, have to be connected to the internet to update the projections in the cheatsheet compiler - but once you've done the final compiler update and buddy update, the projections and rankings are stored in the Excel spreadsheet and can be used offline. Hope this helps. RPW

    Draft Buddy for League Draft

    I can't speak to tracking the league, but last night during our draft I input the draft picks into Buddy just for my own personal management of my draft picks. The thought crossed my mind as our commissioner wrote the picks on a poster board that Draft Buddy would work well to manage the overall draft using a projector. In fact, looking at the "By Team" tab just as our draft completed, I caught an error where one of the guys on his last pick selected the wrong position. The "By Team" worksheet showed that he had one too many WRs and 1 too few RBs. Obviously, you'd want a separate copy being projected that did not belong to a particular league team owner. Mike - maybe you could add a set-up flag to indicate that Buddy was being used as a League Draft Management tool and deactivate/hide the worksheets that give draft-help information. I see the following tabs being active as part of such a league draft management tool: Keepers Summary (Draft Recap by Team section only) Draft Input (Would be nice to have the timer clock on this worksheet) By Team Depth (in a friendly league like ours, we'd probably allow this info to be shared - some may not) By Pos By Round
  8. So you're telling me that you would abandon Draft Buddy on the very first round? I too was thinking that a running back would be more critical...but want so badly to be able to rely on Buddy for the first couple of rounds at least. Ugh. The other RBs on the board are: Edge James, Cadilac Williams, Willis McGahee, Domanick Davis, Joseph Addai, Julius Jones, Chester Taylor, and Warrick Dunn. Here's some more info for you to analyze: 8 Keeper RBs (i.e. not available): Johnson, Tomlinson, Alexander, Barber, Jordan, Jackson, Brown, Portis 4 Keeper WRs (not available): Smith, Owens, Moss, Ward (My keepers are in bold above) After I pick #2 in the first round, there will be 12 picks before my second round pick. I'm guessing that Draft Buddy's 'logic' is that most/all of the available RBs are in the same (or near) tier and several of them should be available for my next pick - where Tory Holt is a top tier receiver and won't be available. What say ye?
  9. Tonight is our draft (8 teams) and I'll be using Draft Buddy for the first time. We have a typical scoring system for TDs and yardage. This year we're also giving 1 point for receptions. I have the second pick in the draft (due to my poor showing last year). We have already declared the 16 keepers (2 per team): My keepers are RB LaMont Jordon and WR Randy Moss. The guy picking first has already said he's picking Rudi Johnson. Below are the top players on the board according to the "overall" tab in FF Buddy: Pos / Player / Value WR Tory Holt 68.9 TE Antonio Gates 58.1 WR Chad Johnson 53.6 RB Brian Westbrook 47.9 I'm planning to follow Mike MacGregor's strategy of trusting Buddy for the first 4 or 5 rounds. What's your assessment of my first pick? Would you go with Buddy? If not, who would you select?

    Poll of CC/DB Users

    I just discovered CC/DB 2 days ago and am frantically trying to learn the ropes with hopes of using Draft Buddy at our upcoming draft (day after tomorrow). The more I study this spreadsheet bonanza the more I like it. And...I'm curious to know more about its usage. If you're so inclinded, how about providing the following info about your experience: (feel free to add comments). This is the first time I've tried to do a poll....hope it works!

    Auto Filter on Overall Tab in Buddy?

    Thanks Mike - That's a great alternative. (My simple mind can't process too many things at once )
  12. Any reason why I couldn't add auto filters to the position columns of the "Overall" tab so that during the draft I could use the filters to easily view the remaining players by position? With the list being triple-wide on the spreadsheet it would be a little combersome, but I think it might help. In fact, I think I would rather the "Overall" worksheet be a single long list rather than three across. Just a thought.
