Every year I call DirecTV and get a deal on the Sunday Ticket. Here's my deal this year on the Sunday Ticket which I got earlier in the week: Called DirecTV automated service and said "Cancel Service". I was then transferred to their retention where I informed them that the only reason I have DirecTV is for the Sunday Ticket and that it's just too expensive. Was first offered $20 off my monthly bill x 12 months and NFL Sunday Ticket for FREE. Then she asked me if that was enough. I asked her if there was anything else she should do? I then got an offer for $30 off my monthly bill x 12 months and NFL Sunday Ticket for FREE. Only kicker is that Sunday Ticket MAX is the package that carries the RedZone Channel and To-Go this year. I was told I can call back anytime to upgrade to the Max for $100 total, which I will do. After just a short 10 minute phone call my final deal after I upgrade to the Max will be: $30 off x 12 months = $360 off per year - $100 to upgrade to Sunday Ticket Max = $260 or ~ $22 off my monthly bill and Sunday Ticket Max for no extra cost. You manage your team based on a salary cap and contract years, thus you can keep a player for their entire career if desired and managed correctly. Dynasty leagues also add another dimension with the annual rookie draft, free agency, and IDP’s (individual defensive players). These elements make for additional fun that regular redraft leagues cannot offer. Dynasty leagues are long term leagues, so please only join if you are serious in playing long term. Finding replacement owners is possible, but not desirable. Website : We will be using www.myfantasyleague.com ; It is a good website, it works well, it provides timely updates on NFL news, and it’s one of the only sites that will allow us to use an auction style draft online. General League Set Up Ø Our league will consist of 12 teams Ø League fee is $50 yearly; There will be no real money charged for player transactions. Ø League fees may increase at some point to keep up with inflation, but for the time being they will not increase. When an increase in fees is brought up we will have a league vote on the issue. Ø In the inaugural year, the league will be randomly split into two 6 team conferences (AFC and NFC) and four divisions (AFC East, AFC West, NFC North, and NFC South) These conferences and divisions are set in stone and will help to develop rivalries. Ø Each team will play their division foes twice yearly and non-divisional foes once yearly. During the NFL season you must always have at least 1 QB, 2 RB’s, 3 WR’s, 1 TE, 1 K, 2 LB’s, 2 DE/DT’s, and 2 CB/S’s on your active roster (required starting line up). Starting Lineup: Each week you’ll be stating 1 QB, 2 RB’s, 3 WR’s, 1 TE, 1 K, 2 LB’s, 2 DE/DT’s, and 2 CB/S’s; Taxi Squad : Can range from 0-12 players. Reserved for players with 3 years of experience or less. Once a player starts his 4th season in the NFL, that player must be cut or placed on your active roster. **Once a player has been promoted to your active roster, that player is no longer eligible for the taxi squad** Salary Cap/Contract Rules: Salary Cap: Each team will be awarded $200 of cap money. This money is used to bid on/sign players during our inaugural auction & free agency. It is also used to pay your players’ salaries. The salary cap will increase by $10 every year, so the second year all teams will have $210 of cap money, and so on. Monies cannot be traded, sold, or redistributed in any manner. At no time can the sum of your players’ salaries and 50% of your taxi squad salaries exceed the set salary cap. Player Salary: A player’s salary is determined by the winning auction bid or free agency bid or assigned draft contract price. For example, if an active player’s salary is $20, it counts $20 against your salary cap. Contract Years: Each team is allotted 60 contact years. At no time can the total number of contract years for all of your players exceed 60 years. Taxi squad players do not count against contract years, however they do count 50% against your salary cap. Initial player contracts are to be “negotiated” by each owner. After each owner drafts a player or acquires him from FA, he must sit down and "negotiate" a length of a contract at the price he paid for the player. There is no maximum length for a contract for any player but the owner must stay under that contract cap of 60 years! For example, if you sign a player with a $20 salary to a 4 year contact, they will count $20 against your salary cap for the next four years (unless you drop or them-see penalty for dropping players below). Taxi Squad Implications: Again the taxi squad is reserved for players with 3 or less years of NFL experience. The sum of the salaries on your taxi squad counts 50% against your cap, rounding up for odd numbers. For example, you have four players on your taxi squad: $1, $5, $3, $2 => $11 total => only $6 counts against your total salary cap. Another advantage of the taxi squad is that they do not have actual contracts yet, so they don’t count against your total 60 contract years. Once you promote a player from the taxi squad to your active roster, 100% of their salary counts against your cap and you must specify the length of their contract (ie. 3 years, etc.). Once a player is promoted from your taxi squad to the active roster, that player is no longer eligible for taxi squad status. Trades: Trades are obviously very important in dynasty leagues, however a player’s contract and salary follows him. A trade will not be allowed if it brings either participating team over the salary cap or contract cap. Draft picks are fair game for trades. A player cannot be traded if he is set to become a free agent (ie. off-season a player has 0 years left on his contract, that player is not eligible for a trade. That player may be resigned and traded however). Trades can be disputed by any member of the league, however trades should not be voided unless they are blatantly unfair. For example, a team trades a 1st round pick straight up for a 3rd round pick. Trades in dynasty leagues are more complex than just looking at how good the players involved are now. Salary is also involved-so a trade involving a star player for a lesser up and coming player is not out of question. If a trade is disputed by two or more teams, there will be a league vote. A majority vote must be obtained to void the trade (7 of 12 teams objecting). Again, I don’t see this happening. The trading deadline is Thanksgiving Day before the start of the first game. Trading can be resumed in the off-season on the day after the Super Bowl. The Commissioner will review and approve trades. The commissioner will evaluate the trade on a timely basis. *Any attempt to dump players, stack teams or conduct trades otherwise viewed as one-sided, unethical or involving the exchange of money are strictly illegal and if proven are subject to possible removal from the league.** When a player is traded the new owner must put him on his active roster if he was on the active roster of the previous manager. If the player was on the taxi squad of the previous manager, the new manager has the option to put the player on his active roster or taxi squad. Releasing a player under contract: You can drop a player under contract at anytime to free up cap space and contract years. If a player is dropped the player's contract year(s) will not be counted against the contract cap anymore. There is, however, a 50% salary cap penalty for the remainder of that player’s contract. **AMNESTY CLAUSE** - Each team will be allotted one Amnesty Clause (a free/no penalty drop) each year, however that clause must be used before the player resign period in the spring (~ May 1st). For example, I own Marshawn Lynch for $45 x 4 years…….I may use my amnesty and drop him during the spring to get his full $45 salary back. **IMPORTANT: The owner that drops a player with an active contract from their team CANNOT bid on them in free agency the next year**. If a team wishes to pick up the dropped player during the middle of the season they may do so, but they take on the original contract (both salary and contract years). Once a dropped player reaches the off-season, that player’s salary and contract years are reset to zero for free agency bidding. Players may not be dropped during fantasy playoff time** \ Injured Reserve (IR): A player can only be placed on IR if he is designated so by the NFL. An injured player that is not out for the season cannot be placed on IR. Any IR player on this list is to stay there for the entire season. Players on IR DO NOT count against the team contract cap but DO count against the salary cap. Players on IR must be activated before the date to submit final roster moves or they will be dropped from the team. There are 5 IR slots. Career ending injury or Player retirement clause: If a player has multiple years left on his contract and retires unexpectedly (i.e. Ricky Williams) or suffers an unforeseen career ending injury, that player may be dropped from a roster for a penalty of 25% of the current year contract amount-then they are off the books. The current year begins the day after the Super Bowl. NFL Pre-season Transactions: Pre-season transactions will begin at the start of training camp and just as last year you can pick up free agents via blind bid only. Starting at 1 pm EST through 9 PM EST Wednesday, free agents may be bid on through the website. These bids will be blind bids and the largest bidder wins the player at 9 PM EST Wednesday. The bid price will be the player’s salary. If there is a tie bid on a player the commissioner will have a random drawing to award the player. In-season Transactions: Free Agent Pick Ups may be made throughout the season up until our fantasy football Super Bowl (week 16). There will be two ways to pick up free agents weekly: 1) Weekly Blind Bid process: Starting at 1 pm EST Sunday through 9 PM EST Wednesday, free agents may be bid on through the website. These bids will be blind bids and the largest bidder wins the player at 9 PM EST Wednesday. The bid price will be the player’s salary. The player will be assigned a 1 year deal unless you notify the commish you want to assign a longer contract. Blind bid ties-winner of player is determined by league tie breaker rules. 2) Free for all Free Agent Pick-Ups: Starting Thursday 9 AM EST each week, all free agents not bid on in the blind bid process are available for pick up- first come first serve at $1. Owners can add free agents during this period on their own. All players picked up will be assigned a 1 year contract unless specified otherwise by the owner. A player cannot be picked up if they have already played in the current week. For example, The Chargers played a Thursday night game and Buster Davis had a huge game. No team can pick-up Buster on Friday morning since he has already played. He is however obviously available for the blind bid process the next week. Off-season Schedule: There will be four separate off-season deadlines/periods. Dates for these will be determined annually, but they will always occur in the following order: 1) Player resigning (~ April 15th) 2) Annual rookie draft (~ May 15th) 3) Free Agency Auction (~ July 1st) 4) Player contracts due (1 week after FA process is complete) Player Resigning Period: Once a player’s initial contract runs out, you have the option to resign them to another contract extension so they do not hit the free agent market. The owner will pay a 50% increase on the player’s current Salary . Fractional values will be rounded up the nearest $1 increment. Maximum length of a contract extension is 2 years to promote some player turnover. A PLAYER MAY ONLY BE SIGNED TO ONE 2 YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION. ONCE THAT EXTENSION IS UP,THEY ARE A FREE AGENT. Again the max of 2 year extension is to promote some player movement, but you will be able to bid on this player in free agency if desired. Example: Player Z had a $5, 5 year contract that just expired and the owner wants to sign the player for another 2 years after the FIRST contract ran out. His contract would look like this: Year 1: $5 Year 2: $5 Year 3: $5 Year 4: $5 Year 5: $5 ----EXTENDED TWO YEARS---- Year 6: $ $8 <- Salary goes up 50% to $8. Year 7: $ $8 -----------FREE AGENT---------- Annual Rookie Draft: The annual rookie draft will always occur sometime AFTER the real NFL draft. There will be FOUR rounds of draft picks (48 players total). Draft order will be based on playoff results and record/tie breakers from teams not making the playoffs. The Super Bowl winner will get the 12th spot in the draft, the Super Bowl runner-up the 11th spot in the draft, semi-final losers will be placed in the 10th & 9th position based on tiebreaker rules, and so on. Teams not making the playoffs assume their draft position based on record and tie breaker rules. **Draft picks may be traded at any time, but never sold** **Draft picks may also be skipped without penalty if you so choose** DRAFTED PLAYER SALARIES -(these assigned salaries may be increased in a few years to keep up with our increasing salary cap. If a change is made, it will be happen before our season starts for fairness.) If a free agent is not bid on for 24 hours, that player is sold to the highest bidder. Free agency will end when all teams are done pursuing available players. At this time free agents will be locked until NFL preseason, then the in-season free agency starts. ***IMPORTANT Free Agency Rules*** 1) An owner may NOT bid on a player that they cut said player in the previous year. This means you cannot bid on a player you dropped that had contract years left. You CAN bid on your players who’s contracts expired (0 contract years left) and you chose not to resign. 2) Please do not abuse the system!! I do not want to see anyone signing LT for $70 the initial year-signing to only one year contract, then let him hit the market, and then picking him back up for only $45 the next year because no one else has will have cap room. Such abuse of the system is grounds for remove from the league. This is an obvious loophole in the rules. I was contemplating creating a rule that said you cannot resign your own player in free agency to prevent this, but if all owners play fair we will not have this problem. Player Contract Deadline: After free agency is complete, I’ll assign a deadline for assigning newly acquired players (drafted and FA’s) contracts. Remember that you need to stay within 60 cap years total. Why would you pay $150 for a set of name stickers? I am sorry, but that is such a rip off. All it takes is one guy in your league with a lap top assigning the players to the correct team as the draft takes place. Spend the $150 on food, beer, and an escort service.....NOT stickers! LOL.

I've had DTV and the ticket for 3 years now. Sunday Ticket is automatically HD this year (in year's past that was $100 extra). Just calld and got a sweet deal. Call today if you are interested cause the Early Bird is ending today ($30 off price). 1. Give phone number 2. Say cancel account-was asked if I wanted to change my service or really cancel account. I said cancel account. 3. Tell retention person "I'm cutting back on expenses, $300 is way too much" They quoted my early bird rate as $45 per month for 6 months = $270 and offered $20 discount per month for those 6 months which by my math means that I got Sunday Ticket (all games in HD) in for only $150. I'm very happy with this!!

I am hearing a lot of talk about Kevin Kolb, Eli Manning, Matt Ryan and Palmer having potential top 10 years, but why no love for Flacco? Flacco has improved weapons with the additions of Boldin, Stallworth, and Pitta/Dixon. He has a young solid offensive line that was starting to gel at the end of the 2009 season. Joe is also heading his 3rd year where we often see a head step forward for young QB's. Last year Flacco had 21 TD's to only 12 INT's and I expect another huge progression in 2010, with a celing of 30 TD's.....which would take him easily into the top 10 ranks. Again, why no love for Flacco?? I see nothing but upside.

Well my team just got stronger. I was able to add Randy Moss and Antonio Gates in free agency with the large amount of cap room I had. My decision is to keep both Maclin and Wallace and forgo the Nicks trade. I think Maclin and Wallace both have huge upside....almost as much a Nicks does, so giving them both up doesn't make sense at this juncture. Maybe at a later date though?

Don't jump to conclusions man! It is a 12 team salary cap league. I drafted well a few years ago and made some great trades to set up my team nicely. I am really bullish on Hakeem Nicks (change of heart from last year). How much is too much to give up for him in a PPR dynasty league? Is Maclin + Mike Wallace too much to give up for him??? My other WR's are Larry Fitzgerald, Brandon Marshall, Sidney Rice, and Braylon Edwards. Maclin and Wallace are good depth, but adding Nicks in the mix with my other top 3 of Fitz, Marshall, Rice is more appealing to me. Am I crazy?

I was one of the only people who was on board with Cara last year about Forte being a bust. Most of you were down right mean to her/him about it. My RB busts this year is Benson. He will be drafted in the top 12 in many leauges and will be close to a top 10 RB.

I would never go QB that early in a rookie draft. QB's are so hit and miss. Hell even Matt Ryan might turn out to be a great NFL QB, but it doesn't mean he will be a good fantasy QB.....ever. Bradford and Clausen are just too much of unknowns. Take a chance on Hardesty, Ben Tate, or Demaryius Thomas at #5 over Bradford. Clausen doesn't even belong in 1st round converstation. So when would I pick Bradford?? After Mathews, Spiller, Best, Bryant, Ben Tate, Hardesty, Thomas are all gone. I'd even consider McCluster, Benn, Golden Tate, Mike Williams, and Gerhart all ahead of Bradford. Long story short, use your scratch off lottery tickets on something other than QB in the 1st round.
