    Teams with Cowboy players......Monday Night

I'm starting Dez and Felix. I have to. I lost Charles so my team is a bit depleted and my choice this week is Felix vs. McGahee at flex. I already have Lloyd, so I'm not that interested in starting two Broncos on the road against a pretty solid D in Tenn. I'd rather start two Cowboys at home, even if they are banged up. I expect both to play. My alternatives for that spot are McGahee, Sid Rice, Little, and L. Moore. McGahee is probably a safer bet for 70+ yards and a score, but with Moreno back this week, his upside (and the opponent) limit him. I'm 0-2 and I have to roll the dice on my most talented players, even if they are banged up.
  2. Anyone else having issues with Yahoo's non-scoring of Sproles punt return TD for NO? I'm not getting credit for the TD, although my league's scoring system clearly states that I get TD's for DEF/SPECIAL TEAMS. Both me and my opponent are done and I lost 109-104. Just curious if this is something inherent to my league that my commish should fix or if it's widespread.

    IDP guys? Denver Homers?

I've been a Broncos fan since '77 and I think he's going to be our biggest impact defender in a long time. I expect double digit sacks this year. They are going to give him ultimate freedom to rush the passer and I expect him to be a very disruptive force.

    Auction strategies?

Just have fun with it. Every auction is different. Seriously. You could have one auction draft with 12 guys at 8pm and completely redo that draft 4 hours later with the same 12 guys and the teams and prices will all look different. Everything depends on when players are nominated. Know your league. In my league, it actually pays to nominate and win a guy you want in the first 10-15 picks. I play in a league with very experienced owners and my take is that owners are reluctant to pay $50+ for a player right off the bat, so you can often get a bargain early. Last year I got Andre Johnson for $44 as the 12th player nominated. Randy Moss was nominated in the 40's and he went for $49, so it doesn't always pay to sit out the first 15 guys. Like I said, every auction is different. Also, all it takes is one guy to outbid you, so unless you are the guy holding the most money, holding the second most money does you no good. Last year, Ahmad Bradshaw was the last RB of any quality left on the board. Two owners had a ton of money left and nobody good to spend it on, so there was a bidding war and Bradshaw went for $36. It turned out to be a good buy in the end, but Bradshaw was a preseason $12 player and many much higher ranked players went for far less than he did. Don't be that guy with $70 left and no quality players out there to spend it on. It's a delicate balancing act. You need to get the guys you want, but don't be afraid to go get guys you like if they are fairly priced. Last year I saved all my money for Jamaal Charles and passed up a chance at Arian Foster for $25. I ended up getting Charles for $44, but I also wanted Foster and didn't get him because I was trying to hoard my money. I would have been better off paying for Foster and pairing him with a $19 WR than getting just Charles. I was kicking myself for that all year. All the advice in this thread is good, but may or may not apply to your specific league. Have some flexibility and don't be tied to just one way of doing things. That's the big difference between a draft and an auction. You can stick to a plan more easily in a draft. You have to be flexible and reactive in an auction. Also, pay no attention to the values you see in magazines. They won't be close to what you see in your league because all it takes is one owner in your league to value a guy much higher than any magazine and he will go for way more than you are factoring in.

    DeAngelo Williams Contract Situation

Who cares if Stewart has been on the injury list a bunch of times? In 35 career games, Stewart has never missed a single one. If I am the GM of a team, that carries some weight with me. Over the same time span, DeAngelo Williams has missed 3 full games and parts of 2 others. In addition, Williams missed 3 more games in 06-07. I don't consider either back injury prone to be honest, but of the two, Stewart appears to be the more reliable option. The workloads are comparable too. In 2 full seasons, Stewart has averaged approximately 200 carries per year. In 4 full seasons, Williams has averaged 190 carries per year. Williams has averaged 5.1 yards per carry in his career, Stewart 4.8. These guys are so similar, it's not even funny. To say one is a bigger injury risk or the other is significantly more talented just isn't backed up by the numbers. You do realize that in 4 full seasons, DeAngelo has carried the ball 20+ times in back to back games just twice, right? How is that all that different than Stewart's 1 (in half the number of total games I might add)?

    DEN WR Situation

No chance he doesn't play according to the Denver Post Twitter feed. Missed practice for personal reasons, NOT questionable.

Apparently drafting Charles was a mistake

Everyone who is saying we should have seen this coming obviously doesn't own Charles and probably guessed right that TJ would be more involved than most expected. Good for you. That doesn't change the fact that Charles was widely considered a top 20 talent coming into the draft, so hindsight is always 20/20. In addition, I don't know how you can say "the coach is obviously limiting his carries to keep him fresh and prevent him from breaking down." when, in the last 8 games of last year, Charles averaged 23 touches per game (27 per game over the last 4) and actually got STRONGER and MORE PRODUCTIVE the more he touched the ball. His track record suggests he can withstand the punishment. Charles is 5'11", 199 lbs. Chris Johnson is 5'11", 191 lbs. I don't see the Titans limiting his touches. Charles owners expected TJ to be involved. We expected him to play the Willis McGahee role to Charles' Ray Rice. We certainly didn't expect Charles to be on the short end of a 65/35 carry distribution. However, at 33 years old, you can't expect TJ to play every game. When Charles is the only show in town, he can single handedly win you a game. The risk taker will seek to buy Charles on the cheap right now because you can't get him any cheaper than right now.

    *****OFFICIAL**** Giants vs Colts thread

Need both Manning and Addai to be somewhat contained tonight. I don't mind a decent game for either, but if either of them go off, I'm screwed.

    Demarius Thomas looking good

Picked him up for $1 in my 12 team keeper league this week. I'm probably building for the future anyways so I took a flier. He could be a great long term keeper possibility. 6'4", 230lbs and runs a 4.40 40 yard dash? That's fantasy gold if he develops correctly and stays healthy. They didn't call him a Brandon Marshall clone for nothing.

Ryan Mathews, what WR would you give to get him

I just traded Mathews and Gaffney for K. Moreno and Spiller. I came out of the draft light on RB's (having only Mathews and Barber, essentially) and I needed another RB. Spiller did nothing week 1, but I think he will be fine and I'm happy with Moreno as well.
  13. Why oh why can I not play in league's where a top 15 RB and a top notch kicker get traded for a second string RB on Cleveland and a kick returner who sucks?

    FF Trophies

Our league goes to a local trophy store and pays $70 for an acrylic trophy with team personalization. It's a keepsake trophy that the owner has forever and the $70 gets added to the league fees and pro-rated across all 12 teams.

    fanball vs. myfantasyleague.com

My league played on Fanball for about 8 years and amazingly it got worse and worse every year. It was actually quite good before Charch and his guys sold the company about 3 years ago. Since then its sucked. We switched to MFL this year and the jury is out, obviously, but so far it seems like it will work better for our league. We have very complex and unique rules and roster configurations and salary cap constraints and MFL seems to work within our league structure, which a lot of websites do not do. I'll post back after week 1 to see how it handles the increased web traffic and live scoring.
