WW Rules, How Does Your League Do It?

I'm in four leagues and they are all different. I don't like the worst record ranking, just because your team sucks doesn't mean you should go first. A free for all in one pisses me off, just because you get up at 2 am to find guys you want doesn't mean you should get them. The standard reverse order that one has blows, same guy gets first pick every week, it's never been me so I guess I'm jaded The one I like best starts out as reverse order of the draft (12-1), then each week everyone can put in claims, if you have a higher priority you get the player first, if someone else tried to claim that player, you drop to the bottom, same goes as the waiver claims are processed. You could go from having the 8th priority on waivers to 1st in a week if there are numerous players that people want. I like this one as it makes you think about how badly you want a particular player, is it worth dropping to the bottom. Sometimes it is. This one is more work for the commish, but with the amount of stuff the websites do for you, I don't think it's that bad.

Take A Brown #1 Overall PPR League - Am I crazy?

Not in the least, you could even get a ppr RB in the second. While AP will get carries, with Turner as OC he tends to toss the ball to TE more than RB.

    Olsen, TY Hilton and Hyde

I can keep two, anyone drafted third round or later is eligible, these are the three I'm choosing from. I have the #2 pick and only stud of note eligible to keep is L Bell. non ppr, only receiving bonus is at 8 catches, start 1 RB 2 WR 1 TE and 1 flex I'm planning a stud RB at #2 be it AP, Lacy, Lynch or Charles Since I can go run and shoot (1RB / 3WR) in any given week, who am I better off keeping. I'm leaning TY and Hyde, but contemplating TY and Olsen I got little help on the other board, Thoughts ? Thanks in advance

    Keep Hyde or Olsen

I can keep two guys drafted third round or later the previous year. I'm choosing between Carlos Hyde, Greg Olsen and TY Hilton. Scoring notes, not a ppr and longer TDs get more points. I have the second overall pick, only stud of note being kept is LeVeon Bell Only one RB in required with two WR, one TE and a flex from any of the three I'm leaning Olsen and TY since I would be looking at my choice of AP, Lacy, Charles and Lynch at #2 and since I really only need to have one RB if I go run and shoot (1RB / 3WR) I would be ok most weeks Thoughts ??

    Splitting the Pot?

I have been in five title games in the last four years, I've been offered to split the pot by the team that I was favored against. I mean I was a big favorite, and was able to win all three times. The two times I was not the favorite I was NOT contacted about splitting the pot and have no desire to approach the other with that offer either. Won one and lost one. Seems to me only from experience that the underdog wants to reach out and salvage more money when they don't think that they could take the title. just my $.02

    Waiver wire rules

One of my leagues has a unique way of doing it. After the draft it goes reverse order of draft for the first week (12-1), then each team submits their waiver requests, if two teams request the same player, the team with higher priority gets him, but that team will then drop to the bottom of the waiver priority for the next week. The same goes each week. It makes people think about the penalty for going after the hot waiver commodity. I've seen people holding onto that slot for weeks at a time just in case of a significant injury to their team, But noone that is picked up during a week can be dropped the same week, they MUST hold a roster spot for that week, and no player dropped can be picked up until the following week. It has made people really think about their waiver selections, I would think the keeping track of the bidding would be a pain for the commissioner, and if someone were tracking other teams remaining amounts (I would) you would be able to use that to your advantage later on in the season.

Why will you take a QB early?

4 leagues with four different scoring systems, I watched all the leagues first three picks go for QBs, the passing TD in all of them was less than rush/receiving, smallest difference being 6 for rush/rec vs 4 for pass. The only league that having a top tier QB seemed to make THAT much of a difference was my TD only league, I agree with several of the posts that said it depends on your scoring, IT ABSOLUTELY DOES. One guy in my TD only league (pass TD = 3 pts vs 6 otherwise) had a strategy of getting a top tier QB (he took Brees) and a top Kicker (don't remember who) paired with a good TE (took Gronk) and he lost in the conference championship game, I was skeptical, but in hindsight think it was a wise move by him, he had the 5th or 6th pick as I recall. I had the 15th (out of 16 teams), I went with McCoy and took RB,RB,RB first three rounds (McCoy, Law Firm, Beast Mode) took a trade to get Cam Newton after week 1 and won the thing. If I had not traded for Cam, My QBs would have been Josh Freeman and Sam Bradford who I selected back to back in rounds 7 and 8. All that said, I think even with the disparity in scoring in most leagues, I think it is prudent to get a top tier QB earlier than round 5, otherwise you could be on the outside looking in on the playoffs much less the Super Bowl. One of my other leagues the top three scoring leaders were all QBs and all were chosen in the first four picks of the draft, funny, but those were three of the four teams that made the playoffs. I think they might have been on to something there.

What Was Your Best Trade/Pickup Of The Year?

When I was asked what I wanted for Nate Burleson after week 1 and I offered him Burleson, Kyle Orton and some other scrub for Jabar Gaffney, CAM NEWTON and some other schmuck and he said it sounded fair to him. Picked Kasay up off waivers after week one as well, all the way to the title, was sweet, really sweet.

    Marshawn Lynch vs. 49ers-D - Week 16

In my TD only league this is my choice as well, I'm leaning towards Beast Mode.

You got lucky in the draft this year when.....

16 team TD only league sitting with the 15th pick, 3 pts for passing TDs and I watch five QBs go first round (I'm thinking WTF?) my turn comes am I'm like seriously, LeSean McCoy is still there, money all season long. Then after week 1 I'm offered a trade for of all people Nate Burleson, I counter with Kyle Orton, Burleson and some garbage player for Cam Newton, Jabar Gaffney and some other scrub and he say's and I quote "That seems pretty fair". Gotta love it.

Give us your Superbowl bound lineup...

16 team TD only league, been around for almost twenty years now, only won it once before This year: Cam Newton (through trading) Marshawn Lynch LeSean McCoy (15th overall pick) Benjarvis Green-Ellis Santonio Holmes Torrey Smith Jabar Gaffney Demaryius Thomas Brnadon Lloyd Jermaine Gresham John Kasay Robbie Gould Don't really like the BeastMode matchup vs SF but oh well,

    GM going under

This is so true. My wife and I were shopping for cars in the last couple of weeks (she has a 40+ minute commute each way) and we were looking at the hybrid cars. Having the salesmen explain the system and how it works was funny. Toyota seems to have the best hybrid system, the GM system is stupid. It kicks in when the car is stopped and idling. Then when you start moving again it shuts off. The guy tried to explain how this system was superior to any other out there. I looked at the sticker on the window and said, but this one gets 5-10 mpg less than a similar Toyota model and he just went like he had no idea what the marketplace had out there. GM is out of touch with reality, as are several other industries. If they can recover, it will take awhile, more time than I think they can survive, even with a gov't bailout.

    GM going under

GM has been sliding into the toliet since Roger Smith started running it into the ground with his arrogant way to do things. Was not a fan of the movie "Roger and Me", but it was actually very factual. My Grandfather commented long ago, (he was a retired GM executive at the time) that the government started all this financial bailout crap when Chrysler was iun trouble in the mid to late 70's. He stated then, that the goverment should keep it's nose out, if a company can't be responsible enough to keep themselves out of hot water, then they should fail, be it my company, my competitor or any other company. I agree with this that the government set a bad precendent back then in bailing Chrysler out, Lee Iacocca was a mastermind coming over to Chrysler from Ford and saving the company on the government's dime. Hated the man, but respect what he was able to do. Now GM is in this position, should they be allowed to fail, YES, will they be allowed to, NO. The GM deal is different in that the government only bailed out Chrysler by guaranteeing loans made to the company, not actually loaning the company any money itself. They will be actually loaning GM money like they did with the banks. We're bailing out the banks, we're bailing out the airlines, we're bailing out the automakers, we're bailing out stupid people who don't know how to manage money, we're bailing out CEO's who don't know how to manage money. WHERE DOES IT END ????? Unfortunately, I think GM will be bailed out, they are in the position they are in because of their inability to negotiate with the unions, provide much too large a pension plan for their employers (2nd best only to the government). There is too much collateral damage that will happen if GM actually is allowed to fail, the politicians won't let it happen to their communities.

Based on this ebay listing, would you expect the item to work?

I would file a dispute with ebay and ask them for help in resolution if the guy will not refund to you. As a frequent seller on ebay, it is my responsibility to describe the item fully, any information that is important (item doesn't work would classify as this) that I leave out is grounds for ebay to demand that I refund the buyer upon return of the item. I do have a 100% positive feedback rating, which is important to me, this guy has one negative which it doesn't look like he disputed, ask him how he would feel about receiving another. If he gives you crap, file a complaint, ask for resolution, post negative feedback and then if he hits you back with negative feedback after you returned the item you can post his email on here and the rest of us will bombard the SOB with all kinds of tubgirl video clips.
