Help with my WR and TE

Recommended Posts

I need either a 5th WR or a backup TE because of bye weeks.

WR: T. Holt, Ro. Smith, M. Jones (week 6), T. Williamson (week 6)

TE: H. Miller (week 4)

So I already know I'll need a TE for week 4 and a WR for week 6. Looking at the wire the top WRs without week 6 byes are Marty Booker, Ronald Curry/Doug Gabriel, and Bobby Engram. (Pats receivers are there too, but also have a week 6 bye).

However, Marques Colston is sitting out there and is currently listed as a WR/TE, fulfilling both needs I may have. Would he be the smart grab now since I can pencil him in for week 4 as my backup TE if he produces from week 1 on and then keep him to fill in at week 6 too if he keeps it up or at that point drop him for an Engram or a Booker that'll likely still be on my wire? Thanks guys!

For the recievers I like Engram for week 6 because he is going up against St. Louis. Oakland has Denver and Miami has the Jets. You could be in for a shootout against the Rams which would be grat for the wideouts.

For the tight end I like to wait right before and pickup whoever seems hot with a good matchup. If Colston is looking good you can keep him too. New Orleans plays Carolina in week 4 and Philly in week 6, just something to keep in mind.

Thanks for your great response on my question.

Yeah see I guess my thought at the moment is if I grab a WR I still have to drop someone before week 4 to get a backup TE, so there isn't a whole lot of point in grabbing a WR unless Williamson bombs and the guy I grab becomes my #4.

just play week-to-week. First get that TE for week 4 drop off a DEF or K if you have an extra one. Then wait for week 6 someone may drop off a #2 who has not put up the numbers they thought and may be a good sleeper for week 6. Good luck and thanks for answering mine

Outside of the top 2 (mebbe 3) TE's, they're all pretty much the same, so grab whoever is available the day before that has a good matchup.

Engram may be a receiver to look at, since Jackson is slow to recover from the knee, and JJ went to the Browns (and is getting old, anyway). Hasselhoff, er, Hasselbeck needs to have someone to throw it to other than Stevens, and since Burleson, even with his new-found connection with Hasselbeck, was a major bomb last year, I think Engram has some upside if you have the room...

He was the WR I was leaning most towards. I'd just hate to grab him and have him sit and Colston go off and suddenly everyone know who he is and run to the wire to grab him and find me still needing a TE.

I'll probably end up grabbing Engram and see how the Williamson/Engram thing plays out and in week 4 drop who's not coming on at that point.
