Any chance this trade happens?

Recommended Posts

So here's the deal. A guy in my league went with the whole "take as many good RB's as possible" strategy and ended up with LT, Domanick Davis, Ahman Green, Dominic Rhodes, Kevan Barlow and Samkon Gado. The problem with that is, his only good WR is Torry Holt. His others he's gotten from waivers, Greg Jennings, Chris Henry, and Wes Welker. So I offered him this trade:

He gets:

Frank Gore

Plaxico Burress

I get:

LT

Wes Welker (just to keep rosters even)

Any chance at all this trade happens. I also have Warrick Dunn, Stephen Jackson, Randy Moss, Chad Johnson, Darrell Jackson and Marques Colston that I can move substitute in the trade if you guys think it would be more likely to happen with someone else.

Basically the point of this topic is, do I have the players to make a deal happen so I can pair LT with Shaun Alexander (who I got in a trade once he got hurt.)?

any input is greatly appreciated, and if you leave a link, I'll get back to you ASAP.

Thanks in advance.

You also have to throw S jackson in there along with Gore and Burress to make it more even and to give him some depth at RB.

Sjax, Gore AND Plax for LT? Gore and Sjax are putting up similar (not the same, but reasonably close) numbers to LT. Do you think maybe Dunn instead of Gore? Or maybe one of my other recievers instead of Plax since I have Eli and could keep that connection for double points possible?

No way he does your deal. Look, if you want quality you have to give up quality.

I hate when people offer me dumb trades like this. Would you trade LT for Frank Gore and Plaxico? Your buddy probably won't either.

I would consider it if i needed help at WR as bad as he does and Gore was putting up numbers close to LT's. Just because Gore hasnt been a top player for the last few years like LT doesnt mean they cant have similar value this year. That's also why I included the "any other suggestions" part to my post, in case someone had any other suggestions or thought it wasnt a good trade. But thanks.

Gore has a hurt strain/pull abdom mus. if u have ever had one of these....they suck..makes lifting your legs tough. this will prob hurt him for the rest of the year. also he is fumbling in the redzone so it is likely that he will lose the short yardage/redzone carries = less TDs. LT is one the few RBs that u can consistantly (expecially after he has already played Balt) play every week. i would never do that if i was him. S jackson is not as elite as LT but he is a close substitute for him. I passed up a trade for LT this year S jackson, plax and T jones. if that tells u how much i value LT (i also wouldnt play Tjones in my lineup with my other RBs at the time).

Dude, Gore is one fumble away from riding the pine.

You think you can trade two players who are on your bench for the best running back in the league.

Like I said you have to give a little to get a little.

I would think you need to have one of

Steven Jackson or Warrick Dunn

Paired with one of

Colston or Darrell Jackson

for LDT by himself

That looks like a fair deal that your friend may consider.

I had considered moving that direction but I was afraid he'd say no since he wouldnt really understand Colstons value and since he has already tried to trade for Frank Gore once this season.

I'm starting to question CJ's worth, any suggestions as to what RB I could pair with CJ to bring back LT?

i think it all matters how your league trades. in my league we are all friends so everyone sends a really lowball offer. then the other person sents a counter offer that is really high...then we kinda split the middle and if we both agree then boom...great trade. some people get offened by a lowball offer and dont even try to send back a counter offer. IMHO i think u should always send a counter offer if u are remotely interested in the players offered or if the person has another player u like. so throwing your intial offer isnt that bad...but expect to recieve a counter offer.

I think no matter what you are going to have to give up Dunn or Jackson paired with a WR.

If the WR is CJ, try and get him to give you a lesser WR or TE paired with LT.

I agree. That's sort of what I expected to happen but I just didnt want to pay more than I have to. He's been really active lately in trade talks because he was sitting with the #3 pick in the league and now he's 0-4 with 0-5 staring him right in the face after I beat him this week and I get the feeling he's starting to panic and just thought I could sell him on Gore and Plax being worth more points per week than just LT by himself.

On a bit of a side note, if I DO change the deal to maybe Dunn and CJ, which of his WR's do you think is the best I could expect in return. He has Gonzo at TE and I dont see that happening, so it'll definitely be a WR.

The only one worth getting is Jennings outside of Holt.

I don't really see the urgency to make this deal. Your team looks pretty loaded. If you really want LT I wouldn't make getting Jennings a deal breaker. He probably would never start on your team.

That's true I guess. He probably wouldnt start for me. So you think just go as low as I can on the WR end of the deal and hope I can come away with LT?
