Lesman 1 Posted August 5, 2007 We keep 1 Franchise Player for up to 3 years, and then 3 additional 1 year players at the cost of the draft pick were they were previously drafted. Franchise players do not cost you a draft pick. My FP is Portis (2 years left - I can only keep him as my FP) My choice of 1 year players is from the following: C. Palmer (2nd round pick) TJ Housh (3rd) A. Johnson (3rd) Branch (5th) L. Betts (9th) Lendale White (10th) I'm definately keeping Palmer for a 2nd, but cant decide on the other 3. I'm leaning toward Keeping Palmer, Betts, and White. This would mean I would be giving up my 2, 8 & 10 round picks. I'd be forced to find my starting 3 WRs + another RB in the draft, but I'll have rounds 1, 3, 4 & 5 to fill these spots. Branch is an inticing value at a 5th rounder, but I think that Betts and White are too great of a value to pass up. I'm tempted to let Betts go back into the draft and keep Branch with my 5th, hoping to draft Betts myself, but I feel that someone will take Betts much sooner than the 9th round, and he is too valuable as a handcuff for me not to keep. What do you think? Leave a link and I'll help you!!
Poloc2289 0 Posted August 6, 2007 Can you take Housh and Andre Johnson? I know they're both 3rd round picks and you probably only have 1 so I don't know how that would work. If you can take both, then I would keep them and Palmer. A 3rd round pick in a keeper league generally does not contain talent like Housh and Johnson so I would take the gamble. If you can't keep both, then go with Housh and Betts. That's my 2 cents http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=278481
Stewburtx8 67 Posted August 6, 2007 Ok you said your def keeping Palmer, I don't generally take QB's early in drafts, but Im not going to argue it's a bad idea, just my personal strategy. So you need two more guys and I'd say Betts in the 9th round is a definite. This is good value for him on his own, but the fact that you have Portis makes getting Betts very important. Portis continues to have problems and is already missing practices and scrimmages. I'd only feel comfortable with him on my team if I had Betts as a handcuff. Now for your last one year keeper I'd keep Branch. Your keeping him in the 5th round which isn't bad value. You can use your 1st pick to get another RB, then 3rd and 4th picks to get WR, WR, or RB, WR depending who is there. I think Branch as your #3 WR, assuming you draft one in the 3rd and 4th rounds, is fine. I just don't think Lendale White will have an impact.
bjlmonster 0 Posted August 6, 2007 Houshy and Betts. Branch if you don't like Houshy. Stay away from Fatdale. Chris Brown resigned with the Ten and they seem to like the rookie Henry.
Parlay Pete 69 0 Posted August 6, 2007 How many teams? That could greatly affect my choices. Parlay Pete
Lesman 1 Posted August 7, 2007 Thanks for all the responses. I did end up going with my initial gut feeling and kept Palmer, Betts and White. The main reasoning behind this was what I felt would be avaiable in the draft. As I suspected, alot of RBs were kept, and not too many WRs. As much as I hated to let TJ, AJ, and Branch go back into the draft pool, there is going to be alot of quality WRs in the draft this year. I came very close to keeping TJ instead of White, but I'm going to gamble that White nails the starting job and that I'll be able to get some quality WRs in the draft.
