Portis for TO?

Recommended Posts

I'm heavy on RB (Tomlinson, Edge, LaMont Jordan, Portis, and Travis Henry) but a lil thin at the top of my WR. Another guy is in the opposite situation. I'm a little concerned about Portis splitting too many carries with Betts, but he is a good back.

I'm thinking of offering Portis for TO straight up. How likely is it that this guy will bite? He has Andre Johnson, TO, and Houshmandzadeh, and we start 2 WR and a Flex. If that were your team and I offered portis for TO would you do it?

Post, and I'll try to answer yours.

Thanks for answering mine...I'm in almost the exact situation. If I were the other guy and saw that you had all of those RB's I would make a strong attempt at Edge or Henry for TO. I could see him giving up Andre for Portis in the end.

i've got TO, Plaxico and R. Moss as my WR, so i'm in essence the other guy. i would not give up TO for portis; i probably wouldn't give TO up for anyone at this point in time. i'd possibly see plax or moss off for a top notch RB. that said, looking at week 1, who's a top notch RB? most likely, in my situation, i would let go of plax, if anyone, for portis and betts just because of eli's situation and the back problems. moss i would hold on to... HOF receiver with an HOF qb. in your case, it would probably be someone andre or housh that you'll get for portis. no one is going to help you out with those RB's. i mean, seriously... how did you end up with that??

i have rudi, t. bell and r. brown at RB. i'm hurt at RB depth.

youve got a better chance at andre johnson. With the way Romo started the season, TO is looking like a fantasy god to a lot of people. anyone with a HOU tag next to their name gets immediately underrated, so you could get away with picking up a valuable reciever before portis gets hurt.

i agree with washers, AJohnson is underrated, severly. If i'm not mistaken, he plays the panthers this week. hope for him to not do great, portis to do well, and offer that. Andre Johnson will be great this year, but not TO great. I won't trade TO for anyone

Thanks for all the replies! I think I may try to get AJ or Housh...

By the way - I got stacked at RB because Edge fell to the 5th (FIFTH!) round and I had already taken LT and Travis Henry, but couldn't pass up Edge in the fifth...and I snagged Portis in the 7th (SEVENTH!?!) and Jordan in the 15th. I mean when those players are available in those rounds you just have to take them, right?

By the way - I play in a 10 team league - I guess my opponents undervalue RB's?

I agree with above and getting TO for Portis straight up would be very hard. BUT hey maybe he really needs a RB. Can't hurt to try. I would set me sights for AJ or if you really want TO package another player to make it a sweeter deal. Was not sure of the rest of your line-up but try and 2nd tier appraoching first tier WR and Portis and see if he bites. GOOD LUCK.

Please see mine WR'shelp week #2.
