Rate my team if you would :)

10 team league, standard scoring, had #3 pick. QB - Tom Brady WR - Randy Moss WR - Roy Williams WR - Santonio Holmes RB - MJD RB - Joseph Addai TE - Dustin Keller K - None atm DST - New Orleans (just playing matchups) Bench: Reggie Bush Donald Brown Ahmad Bradshaw Chester Taylor Derrick Ward Donnie Avery Derrick Mason I know I went a bit crazy with the RB handcuffs, but I couldn't help myself, they were just sitting there and looked tempting :x Any advice / thoughts are appreciated. Will respond to yours as well, thanks

Clinton Portis and Torry Holt for Randy Moss

If you can make this trade work, then definitely, go for it. That other team needs a lot of help, he's really weak at RB and WR (minus Moss). Man... the more that I look at his team, I really don't know what I could do to fix it. He definitely needs help at RB, but if he gives away Moss, he's really hurting at WR too. Well, in any case, I'd pull the trigger. You have a nice looking team with a lot of depth, and Moss would be a huge addition.

Yeah, I kinda wish I had a better option for my RB2 in the 4th round. It was between Addai or Brown (everyone was RB happy, so those were the top 2 at the time). Brown was taken 3 picks later, but the next RB wasn't taken til mid 7th, which was my taking Bush. Maybe I should have gone with Brown, but oh well. Thanks for the input

Think I am in big trouble....HELP!

Your team doesn't look that bad. I probably would have taken Jacobs over Gore if he was still avail, but Gore is still solid and not threatened by any RBBC. Kevin Smith is a good RB2, I think he'll put up some good numbers this year. Your league is starting 3 RB's and 2 WR's, correct? RB3 seems pretty weak, I would try to make a trade somewhere, maybe package DeSean Jackson and Felix Jones for a more solid RB. WR depth is really good this year in general, you could put Avery and Jennings as your starting wideouts and pick up another decent WR off the waiver wire. I like Daniels a lot this year, and getting him in the 9th round is a steal. I had my sights on him but someone picked him in the 6th round, didn't expect him to go that high. Overall your team isn't in that bad shape, just need to find that 3rd RB and you should be set. Thanks for responding to mine Edit: Oh, just saw the flex. So that means RB RB WR WR Flex? Then I guess what I just said doesn't mean as much, but you still might want to try for a starting RB3

Need some advice on my team

Here's my team. 10 team league, standard scoring. Round Pick Player Position 1. (10) Brandon Jacobs RB 2. (11) Randy Moss WR 3. (30) Tony Romo QB 4. (31) Terrell Owens WR 5. (50) Tony Gonzalez TE 6. (51) Larry Johnson RB 7. (70) Derrick Ward RB 8. (71) New York DEF 9. (90) Donnie Avery WR 10. (91) Rashard Mendenhall RB 11. (110) Donald Brown RB 12. (111) Eli Manning QB 13. (130) Domenik Hixon WR 14. (131) Earnest Graham RB 15. (150) Percy Harvin WR QB - Tony Romo WR - Randy Moss WR - Terell Owens RB - Brandon Jacobs RB - Larry Johnson TE - Tony Gonzalez WR/RB - Derrick Ward K - None atm DST - NYG Bench - Donnie Avery, Percy Harvin, Donald Brown, Rashard Mendenhall, Earnest Graham, Domenik Hixon, Eli Manning I'll obviously have to make a trade or drop someone for a kicker week 1. I picked up Harvin as my last pick, and with the Favre signing, I'll probably hang onto him. My biggest concern is my RB core. I like Jacobs as a #1, but it was beyond painful to pick Larry Johnson. I seem to have too many backup RB's on my bench, but there aren't any that I'd like to drop at this point. I'd like to try and offer for a better #2 RB, but really not sure what I might be able to offer as a package. I would guess I'd have to send TO along with one of my other RB's, but who should I target? I may have to wait a week or 2 and hope that one of my RB's has a good first couple weeks and sell high like I did last year with LJ. Anyhow, any advice / comments are appreciated. Thanks, and I'll reply to yours

Opinions on #3 overall pick in redraft

I wouldn't overlook the .5 ppr for your RB's. Turner does little to zero pass catching, so if MJD isn't there at #3, you may want to skip on Turner and go with Forte or even Westy. Thanks for your advice

Need some advice on my team

Thanks for the insight Yeah, you're right, I can go ahead and drop Eli, good call. And yeah, I was thinking of targetting Slaton. The guy who has him missed the draft so he definitely has some problems of his own, maybe TO + Mendenhall/Ward for Slaton or something.

Anyone have a league that uses "backup insurance"?

I understand where you are coming from. I too enjoy I beat my opponent when he had his winning points on the bench. Making lineup decisions is important, but I wouldn't go so far to say it's THE most important part of the game. Before the hourly and daily updates of fantasy football reports I could see where there was a bit more skill involved in choosing lineups, but with all the resources there are today it doesn't take too much knowledge to know which player is a more "optimal" start. Imo one of the bigger aspects of fantasy football is the initial draft. If you have an amazing draft which gives you say 3 stud WR's in a league that only starts two, it would be nice to know that you could be rewarded for having such a stellar WR core and have "insurance" on your bench if one of your studs has an off day. I guess in the case above most people would end up trading that 3rd WR for an upgrade at another position, but this proposal would give an alternative to trading I guess. Some players prefer not to benefit other teams with a trade, even if it's a benefit for them as well, in which case they would probably like my idea. Anyways, I can see why many people wouldn't agree with this, but then again it's just an idea I'm not even sold on it myself, and probably wouldn't institute it unless everyone else in my league wanted it for some reason :>

Anyone have a league that uses "backup insurance"?

I like the idea. I came up with a similar idea to try and take more of the "luck" out of my league. My proposal would consist of the following: A bench player of the same position may be substituted for a starting player after the scoring has been decided for both players, but at a 50% point penalty. Example: Starting RB: Willie Parker scores 4 fantasy points Bench RB: Derrick Ward scores 18 fantasy points You can swap Derrick Ward for FWP after the fact so that Derrick Ward will give you 9 fantasy points as opposed to the 4 points that FWP gave you. I think this would give an edge to teams with deeper benches and take out more of the flukiness of players leaving games early due to injury, etc. I believe that the 1/2 point penalty for swapping wouldn't make this proposal too "overpowered". Perhaps adding a limit to the number of times this can be done during a season would help as well, say 3 times a season. I'll make a modification of robert's idea and give bench players of the same team only a 25% point penalty, so a 20 point bench game would yield 15 points.

    ***Official Week 14 F.U. thread

Colston/R.Moss Hillis and Gore for both leaving early due to injury (although they still put up decent numbers)

Who went WR-heavy in your drafts?

I didn't intend to go WR heavy, but I was drafting in the 8th spot and I decided to go for WR's after the 2nd round due to how other teams were drafting. 10 team league 3 starting WR's. Here are the first half of my picks by round: 1) Randy Moss 2) Larry Johnson 3) Colston 4) Plaxico 5) Clark 6) FWP 7) Graham 8) Driver I traded Larry Johnson for TO + Jamal Lewis after week 4, so at that point I had a pretty insane WR core on paper. I ended up shipping Plaxico + Graham for Gore a couple weeks later, so now I'm going with TO, Moss, Colston, Driver. It's crazy that all of my stud WR's have had to deal with either injuries to themselves or injuries to their stud QB's during the season, but I've somehow managed to tread water and I'm im pretty decent position in the #4 spot in my league. I'm liking Moss + TO down the stretch, but Colston has been a pretty big bust thus far and it's gonna be either hit or miss the rest of the way :/
  12. PorscheT1

I need 3 td's and 300 yds from rodgers and

I hope it does happen, I need Driver to outscore Moore + Crosby by 5 points.

    *Official* Week 12 FU's

    1) My opponent having Michael Turner... ugh, that last TD, I mean seriously, it was painful enough before that 2) Frank Gore + FWP, sigh, Turner outscored both of them combined by 30 3) The fact that I had a huge day from TO and Randy Moss, only to have it offset by #1 and #2 At least I'm still in striking distance, down 16 points with Clark + Kaeding + Either Driver or Colston (still debating) against Lance Moore + Crosby. Bleh
  14. PorscheT1

Best trade you made all season

Oct 10 - Earnest Graham + Plaxico for Frank Gore Oct 3 - Larry Johnson for Terrell Owens + Jamal Lewis (even though TO hasn't done much so far, was just glad to get rid of LJ )
  15. PorscheT1

***Official*** What Do You Need On MNF?

I need Jamal Lewis to get me 15 points. It's pretty borderline, because he hasn't really rushed for 80+ yards yet, so it looks like I'll probably need 2 TD's from him :/ I'm still feeling the sting of that SD/PIT last play debacle (had PIT Def). 7 points from Lewis would have been much better.
  16. PorscheT1

anybody else lose because of the "illegal forward pass"?

Yeah, that play really messed with my head as well. I got all excited that I finally got some points off of a garbage play, and even posted a rant about it against my opponent before they overturned it :| I'm now down by 17 points with TO and Lewis to play rather than a much more manageable 9 points.
  17. PorscheT1

What Do You Need On MNF

I'm up by 1 with PIT Def to go for my team. Other team is done. So, I need PIT to not get me negative points, or I can just bench them and secure the win. Still debating :x
  18. PorscheT1

    trade...

I'd go for it. Like you said, you are a bit weak at WR, and getting either Plaxico or Moss (btw, which moss?) would definitely be a huge upgrade for you. Slaton's second half schedule is pretty rough, and rookie RB's tend to fizzle out in the second half of the season. On a side note, I recently tried offering Colston + FWP for LT, but was counter offered with Slaton + Bruce for Colston + FWP, which I turned down, mainly due to Slaton's second half schedule.
  19. Haha, that's me Thanks, I'm pretty psyched. It's still not over yet because my opponent has Gonzalez and Bironas, but as of right now I have a 4 point lead. Hopefully I can hold on.
  20. PorscheT1

    Plaxico Owners in here

If you're worried about the situation try shopping him around like a lot of us have. Two weeks ago I traded Plax + Earnest Graham for Frank Gore, and I'm much happier with my team now.
  21. Down by 8. I've got Dallas Clark. He has Rob Bironas and Anthony Gonzalez. Yeah, I'm in trouble :| Let's go Clark! 100+ 2 TDs incoming.
  22. PorscheT1

    The one-stop "trading LT" thread

I agree with theyhateme. You aren't really too strong at RB (you have a good collection of RB's to play matchups though), and your WR's aren't really that bad, and should start putting up better numbers in the 2nd half of the season. If you do decide to trade him though, I wouldn't do it for any of the first 3 you listed. I wouldn't do LT for Marshall either, giving up too much unless Marshall gets 15+ catches each game Fitz or Jennings + Addai wouldn't be that bad. I don't think DeSean will keep performing at the level he has been, and Addai isn't a big dropoff from LT. Obviously if you could get Fitz that would be a tremendous upgrade at WR. Since you are not ready to give up on LT, you might want to think of shopping Slaton + DeSean instead. Like I said earlier, I don't think DeSean will keep up his pace, and although he didn't do much in the way of catches this past week, I think his stock is still high enough to get some trade value. You could essentially try replacing Slaton for LT in most of those trade scenarios and you could get a taker. Thanks for looking at mine.

Need trade advice: Plax + Graham for Gore

Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and pulled the trigger. That was a good thought to try and counter with Moss + Graham, but perhaps I'll just try to offer Moss for Plaxico after the fact (plus I know the other guy is a big Pats fan).
  24. I originally was offered a trade of Jonathan Stewart for Colston. Stewart wouldn't do much for my team, so I countered with Colston + Graham for Frank Gore. I thought he might go for it, but he countered with Gore for Plaxico + Graham. 10 team league standard scoring. Here's my team as it stands now: QB - Eli Manning (Schaub) WR - Terrell Owens WR - Randy Moss WR - Plaxico Burress RB - Earnest Graham RB - Jamal Lewis TE - Dallas Clark Bench WR's - Marques Colston, Donald Driver Bench RB's - Willie Parker, Selvin Young Obviously I'm pretty stacked at WR (due to my amazing Larry Johnson for Owens + Jamal Lewis trade last week xD), and I'll need to make a trade when Colston gets back regardless. I would rather trade Colston due to the Eli / Plax combo I've got, and I also believe that Plax will have better stats than my other WRs this season (but that could just be my Giants bias). Graham is losing value pretty quickly, and Gore would be a tremendous upgrade for me at RB, especially until FWP gets back. It seems like I'd be giving a bit too much, but perhaps I'm just not seeing things clearly. Any advice is appreciated. If you have an idea of another trade I might try to seek out please let me know. Leave a link and I'll check out yours.

    Trade Help... will help you

I'd take itl. Jacobs had a nice week, but that was against a pretty soft run D, and I don't expect him to put up numbers like that again the rest of the season. You are deep enough at RB anyhow (especially with Bush + PPR), and you could use the help at WR. Fitz is a stud. Thanks for looking at mine.
