  1. I was smart enough to keep Turner when he left SD and went to ATL. Last year I wrangled Ray from another owner before he blew up.... and this year I was lucky enough to draft Foster. The way I see it, there is a guy on a roster out there .... I'm not gonna say his name.... BERNARD ScOTT !!!!? ... who will be next years last years ray rice much like foster is not last years Turner hopefully, but the year before that's Turner. A guy who will sniff pine all year but next year become OJ Simpson 1973.... except he'll run for 3000 yds because instead of the 14 games Juice played in 73 they'll be doing like 20 next year... do the math, and then fudge it a little to make it 3000 because it just sounds cool.

    V-davis vs J-finley?

I was just goofing too because I actually totally agree with you.... i just don't want to say it out loud and jinx it beacuse I took Finley over Davis after covetting Davis for 3 months prior to draft. Just thought it was funny that you hedged your prediction with injury. lol go finley!

    WR question

What he said. I do love both of these guys.I really like ATL to do much better than last year when they had a very tough schedule and Ryan in his 2nd yr... Turner hurt. I say Roddy is an easy 1280/10, maybe a bit better. You don't have to go to charachter issues to see BM's change as a possible limit this season. I do like ATL schedule a bit better and another year under Ryan's belt should help. I say make the decision based mostly without these guys in the picture because they are pretty damn similar performance wise. You can't really miss here... unless Marshall does something crazy, which I wouldn't count on... think DEN was alot of the problem.

    rice @ 2?

I don't think it's way out to pick rice at 2 instead of 3-, from a risk stand point. This will not detroy your first round or effect who you pick in later rounds. Most wouldn't but your not taking L McCoy. why not trade down 1 spot and get something for that... let him and everyone else take AP. If you love Ray and there's something about AP that bothers you this year then do what you think there... or autodraft the first 3 rounds. PArt of the game is getting the players you want.

    Michael Bush

Doug's article on this site with intensive stat projection has Bush at 1195-9-23-190. I have yet to see that predicted anywhere else but I agree with the possibilty as does this thread so far. Not bad for an RB2. I'm in a 5 guy keeper league with the second pick and think I might go Bush over Best and some reasonable others. Even Matthews projections in same article are like 1080-8 ??? Which would be pretty good. Not sure why RM is like a top 15 pick and Bush is ADPin' in the 80's. Talk about value. OAK could play very well this year-relatively speaking- this kid is young but NFL experienced already and a great player who broke his leg in college and then got stuck in a really weird spot. Not unreasonable to think he out performs MAtthews and alot of others this season and a very good to great keeper.

    Cuse9's Annual Help Thread

hi Cuse9. like your stuff. wondering on DJAX vs Roddy White. seems about as close as it gets, i currently have DJAX, live in Philly and my kids love him, so staying put is easy. The guy with Roddy is an Eagles fan and poking with Roddy. I was thinking of doing the deal with maybe a pick swap in my favor (we're in a 5 guy keeper league) just to pick up an edge. I know Roddy is gold but I don't get to see him play and I don't really have an affection for his game. DJAX is awesome and still on the up. I guess my thoughts are 1, does Roddy improve over last year with Ryan developing after a tough season and a rough schedule? Can he add 100 yds and 2 TDs. My Eagles concerns are 1- brutal schedule. 2.lotsa change- QB,RB. not that change will be bad. But Maclin and Celek and an RB who gets catches are serious options that could limit growth of Desean's stats. Also he has way fewer targets/catches/redzone opps. - lot of long TDs- but does that change? I also am not one to be hyper sensative to injuries, but JAX here is a bit small and already took a bump, can that factor in? Thanks for your time

    S-JAX = OVER-RATED

He is a beast... way more talent than most. Gets all the carries. Looks great without his shirt on, gotta love the hair. He's from Vegas... and he swims with sharks. Everyone knows that if he were most other places he would pretty much be Walter Payton. But he's not. And you're probably right. I love the guy and hope somehow he is the #1 RB for the next 5 yrs and he wins a superbowl. Somehow i just can't take Ryan Grant or Jon Stewart over him, but in the end I probably should. Go STEVE !!!

    New FF format?

I've been playing in a 5 guy keeper league for 15 years or so. I don't like redraft or playing in a ton of leagues- cool if you do. 5 keeps feels more like a team than 1,2 or 3 guys and helps me never have an offseason as i try to wheel and deal pretty much any time trying to get better players or draft picks. Our league has gotten a bit flat and we have some slugs. Each year a few rule changes are brought up but we stay about the same which has been good. One guy and I have tried to think of ways to tweak it a little to maybe recharge it with some new energy. Some guys always want to redraft(not change to a redraft). My bud and I have thought about trying to take it to a dynasty format but think it might be a bit much for some guys, and it is kind of nice playing with guys we know. We were thinking about a keeper criteria based on a players number of years in the league. We noticed with a 5 guy keeper format that the draft can be a bit weird... rookies are sexy but if they don't hit year one then your first pick is probably getting thrown back next year. Also stud veterans can get stuck on a guys team. I know there are other formats where there are limits on how long you can keep a guy. But what if you could keep like 15yrs of service? Or 20? don't know... Then you can draft a rookie and give him a couple yrs to do something. If you have Peyton Manning do you keep him and take the monster hit on years/space on your keeper roster? Probably not, so Manning and Moss are in the draft. In our league now it seems almost everyone would prefer to trade their first pick down say 1.2 for 1.12 and 2.18 or whatever because you can't really be too sure of player 60 and beyond being studs or someone you can win it with. But if some crazy veterans are in the draft then first round picks have more value(as it seems they should). Keeper strategies could vary and you could change course easily I would think. Anyone play anything like this or thoughts on how many years might be functional? Thanks

So after the draft, trades, retirements, etc....

I get that feeling every year about this time. I usually pop off an email to the commish for my annual rule change pitch. I say, "we should be allowed to keep a sixth and give up our first rounder, a seventh for our second rounder... down the line". The way i see it I have like 12 guys I want back... attribute that to my wild optimism. Specifically though, the Ben stuff didn't help. After believing in that guy's ability for years now along with last year's performance I can't believe I just throw him back. It's now Kolb time. As to the drama of thread, I'm not sure I see LT helping Greene, Benson is still Benson, Leon didn't get traded to the Chargers, Harvin is still waiting fo Brett to declare, Driver just turned 35 and I probably wouldn't want to keep 2 QBs. A soft stone thrown at a part of the point of this thread seems reasonable.... on this board anyway, maybe not at church.

Could you turn this team into a champion?

Team def needs help, I barely see 7 i would keep- ASmith(I like but most don't rate too high) AP,PT, stretch for forte and further for KSmith, Steve Smith- love the guy, but wow, not as a 1... I do Like Bowe this year kinda alot... but that doesn't get you much now does it? If it's me I move AP. Without a 1 and 3 this year I think by the time you draft talent- 2yrs?- AP is sliding. No way i 1 for 1 him, Brees or anyone. I would look to package AP and Steve Smith to someone for a 5-10 RB an upgrade at WR maybe a QB in the range of Flacco to Cassel (9-17) a pick and maybe another gamble pick at WR or best you can do (top D or good + TE, you have room for a 7th keep?). I would easily throw KSmith in the deal or play Forte up and part with him if you can get something sexy. Sounds like alot but if you look to move AP someone will show up. If your team is this bad I guess a few teams have plenty in a 10 team league. You need 4 good players in a deal and I wouldn't wait til week 1 on Steve Smith because he might not happen this year. Good Luck. and I would also petition to move to unlimited waiver wire moves- you need next years Miles Austin and Jamaal Charles, might take 15 pick ups to do it!!

How fast would this guy be if he were 6'6".? And how many mini Ditkas would it take to stop him

... That thread was so exhaustively informative too. I mean the guy said' I dont know, I'm not sure ' enough times to convince me that he's pretty much the next B West. Which I'll say he is next year.

I offered Gore, Steve Jackson, Calvin , picks#2 #3 in a 5 guy keeper league, he told me to go lie down.

S Jax owners at what point do you cut bait?

I traded Fitzgerald for him middle of last season because I thought short/long term Warner would fade and healthy Boldin + Breaston would take from LArry; and I also needed an RB real bad. Felt pretty stupid by the end of last year as larry shined and rams went for a new bottom. I tried shopping him in the offseason figuring the name Steven Jackson was worth alot... I was wrong. No one wanted him. I begged a few guys and they came back with just awful packages. So I realized I had to keep him and as bad as this year is going, the guy still can do as well or better than most, including great RBBC name guys. He's on one of the worst teams playing , TDs arent happening and may not all year, but he can still get 100, gets all the touches- hell give him more- and his ability makes it a safe bet that he'll bust a couple of good games anyway. Injury was another concern, as it is with every NFL guy with a helmet, but I'm not trading him for 1,2 or 3 average dudes. MArion BArber, L white, Lynch, Mcfad, JJones< BJacobs.... blah blah- stop me when there's a guy someone will say yes to that isn't sharing the load with 1 or 2 other hotshots. Some of us believe that if the planets lined up again his monster year could happen again, sh&t he could have LT career #s in the perfect spot.... but it aint happenin' and I'll still start him most weeks and enjoy him on my team instead of 1 of the NYJ 3 RBs that are all supposed to be great,... etc. He is an above avg RB in the new realm of RBBC and will be for years on a really bad team. (I tried SJaX and my #1,#2) for Peterson but the other guy didnt go for it... Right?
  21. ??? What kinda league/draft are you in ? How is Housh the best available WR with pick 15(?) With Santonio falling to the 4th round? Anyway, I'm in a 5 guy keeper league, had like 5 picks in the first 2 rounds and had traded away some middle picks.... Should I take Eli/Ben late 2nd or let it fall?? I had Ben the past 2 years, love him, but he wasn't passing as much as it looked like he's going to this year- and Eli didnt appear to have a 'great' WR so I passed, figured I could get a serviceable QB late. The short of it was I started Delhomme last week, and dropped Bulger to start Brady Quinn week 2. Averaging .5 per game over 2 games now at QB !!! Good news is I'm strong at RB/WR and can spend 6-8 hours a day looking at my roster grid trying to come up with 'the move'. And I'm 1-1.... could be worse. There are the top 3, then 5 or so 'way good enough' QBs so far, but I'm hopeful that offenses catch up to D's in a week or so and some of the 9-15 range guys get productive. Right now I got ta go qeue up for Byron Leftwich on my WW, or try to make a deal for Flacco... maybe Steven Jackson and next years #2 ......

At least I dont have to hear my SD buddy keep telling me that kassim Osgood is gonna be 'that guy' this year... this guy's name is way better. He did look sharp, but how many GD balls are there to be had in SD? I guess if LT doesn't come back and Chambers solidifies his dud-ness even further then this kid is fantasy gold ! I'll work my commish to let us expand our rosters to 24 or 25 so I can get the jump here and park this kid behind Chris Henry and James Davis. Or maybe I'll go without a kicker...

    Week 1 Upset Alert

liking it? Love more like it... I'd rather take CAR -8.5 somehow and make real money. It's the classic case of the 'line telling me something' though as a local hero sports radio host says here in PHL. It's either a set up, or the Vegas gimmie of the year. Eagles line has yet to play together, the Run D should struggle and Westbrook is kinda shaky. McCoy seems cool, but man. Also, Car going on the road ATL and DAL next 2 weeks, they gotta take this one at home. I'll start working my wife tonight to fire this one Sunday... "just let me play til I lose hun"... which willl probably be Eagles 31-Car 24. I mean who makes money picking football winners anyway right? week 1 ...? HORSES !!!! Thats where the easy money lies...

    Cuse9's Help Thread

hey Cuse9 interesting service, thanks for doing it. non PPR, 5 keeper league. 5pt bonus for 100yd for RBs. i currently have Turner,SJAX, BMarshall,BEdwards,Calvin overall picks 3,13,24,27. so im pretty good now. I am prone to trade, sometimes one too many, but "onward out!". Guy is offering me 1 overall and Pierre Thomas for Turner. Seems like this could be the 1 too many spot, I just got turner in a package deal and love him! Thomas is interesting esp. with Reggie's knee thing. Seems Thomas will only get more and more and value increases. both guys play for great teams, dont think Thomas outshoots Turner or anything too crazy, but i do tend to chase potential. Also getting the #1 overall gives me alot more room to build my squad. Gates is going back in the draft, who I love and i could still get a top 2 rookie RB. Or usually trade day someone gives up a 1 and a 2 for the top pick or so. you seem to like both of these backs, but Turner is a top 5 guy most places and so far PT is a late 2nd early 3rd guy. I think Bush' knee not looking so good puts PT on the quick rise starting like Monday. Still quite a disparity, unless you're just chasing potential... which probably loses more FF than it wins.- thanks for anything, like reading your stuff

Browns looking to deal Quinn & Edwards

With Braylon, a question has to be - Will they be able to/ want to pay him 8 million plus a year after this season when he's FA ? Sure he's proven he's no slouch, and a 1 and a 3 for him is still probably good value for any team that gets him, considering what else is available for that amount- maybe Boldin, but nothing after that. But a 1 and 3 for the Browns could go a long way too for a team that needs quite a bit. I dont think Edwards loves CLE so he's probably gone after this season anyway. So why not take 2 guys with upside and rookie cotracts? Edwards also dropped enough last season to prove he's not Jerry Rice, so if you're a CLE front office cat then you talk yourself into moving him thinking you can probably get a startable RBBC guy even late RD1 -and figure you're smart enough to find a starting WR in rd 2,3 or 4 ? ... Or any of their other needs. Is Edwards a Brown after this season? Is he automatic for 1200+ and 10td FOR 2010? Enough questions around that to go another way and not seem like fools to me. BE should be at Jerry Rice camp right now running hills and trying to 'catch BBs in the dark' (anyone?), but I'm guessing he's probably doing something else... like hoping to get out of CLE.
