L.A. ICE Thread: U.S. Judge blocks Trump's N.G. Deployment in L.A.

Oh hell yeah. I've got like four of his albums, my favorite being "MF Horn II." All us trumpet players in high school wanted to be him. He was like the Eddie Van Halen of the trumpet, with more control over those crazy high notes than any trumpeter before him. Even got to see him live once. His stuff still sounds good. -

We sat with the drunken riffraff in the cheap seats behind center field at Yankee stadium and had a blast. Those fockers take their baseball seriously.

The wife and I are trying to visit every MLB park. A couple of years ago we saw the Brewers and were going to go to a White Sox game, but it got rained out. A few years earlier, we went to a Yankes game and had tickets to a Mets game, but it got rained out.

Yeah, and those precious little girls who had gone off to a camp. The head of that camp drowned trying to save them. I'm seeing on social media the questioning of God.

I actually remember that, was in the area and checked it out. The Guadalupe usually is a beautiful, emerald-green, clear river with soaring limestone cliffs, only those cliffs were carved by millions of years of these kinds of floods, where water doesn't absorb into the ground and has no place to go but downstream.

Going to be interesting to see how FEMA, National Weather Service and National Hurricane Center operate as we get into the meat of hurricane season, with above-average activity expected.

The concern over National Weather Service vacancies is legitimate. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/05/us/politics/texas-floods-warnings-vacancies.html

Could be like the Ross Perot campaign from 1992. He seemed like he had a chance until he focked up up, most likely intentionally.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of impact this will have on the midterms.

No one could have predicted this. This is new from a hydrology and meteorology standpoint. A flash-flood warning usually means not being a dumbass in trying to cross a road or bridge with water flowing over it.
-
I might be as well.

Props to the Texas governor, Trump and various state and local officials for their response to this disaster. No finger pointing here. This has been like nothing this state has ever seen.

What part of my post gives you any indication about whether I like him?

I just posted a link to a MAGA nut suggesting we feed all of this country's Latinos to the alligators. Own it. -

Not much of one. The topography is pretty much rock, so there is little to no absorption, so the only place for water to go is into the river, which rose up insanely fast. There was almost zero time to evacuate anyone. I saw one video of a guy telling a woman to get the hell out of her house now, and she said, "I hear people screaming." To which he replied, "Those are people who got swept into the river."
