Sure, there are lazy people on the dole who exploit the system, but Trump and his oligarch buddies, who will benefit bigly from his tax cuts, have done the same thing on a much larger and more profitable scale for decades. The vicious cycle of poverty is more complicated than the goo between your ears can comprehend. Many people are one paycheck and a broken-down car away from being jobless and homeless. Leadership programs often have a poverty exercise, and the one I did make me realize in a hurry how some people just can't get ahead. We have an obligation as Christians and Americans to help those less fortunate than ourselves, and a man's character is judged by helping others with nothing in it for himself except for the satisfaction of helping someone. Be better.

I predict that we'll see a huge spike in crime because of this bill as lower-income residents grow desperate for food, money and health care.

It's perfectly fitting for Trump and his MAGA minions to celebrate this historic occasion by spending millions of taxpayer dollars so MAGAs can watch people beat the crap out of each other at the White House. The MAGA thirst for violence has no limits.

Hopefully the expenditure of $45 million in taxpayer dollars to throw the event will draw tens of people!

I've been brush hogging the woods behind my house to create a few more yards of yard. It's kind of like a crossfit workout. I only cut up dead things and create massive burn piles that are fun to set off. These woods are mighty and humbling. I once created a trail to the creek, but The Woods said yeah, nah, and had the whole thing covered up in a matter of weeks in the spring. It's weird back there. I don't go back there after about March and don't venture back until October, and it's always changing with fallen things. I'll be content after this winter and clearing a bit more brush and dead trees, and then I'll let the rest be. I put a game cam back there and got pics of bobcats, coyotes and ... flying squirrels! I always feel like I'm being watched when I'm back there.

The new "All Quiet on the Western Front" kicks ass. Two relatively obscure war movies that are great are: "When Trumpets Fade," about the Battle of Hurtgen Forest, which got overshadowed by the Battle of the Bulge. "The Lost Patrol," awesome World War I flick. A Vietnam vet once told me the most realistic movie about that war is "Hamburger Hill."

I have a John Deere riding mower to use on my two acres and just mulch the shat out of the leaves in the fall. My dumb neighbor puts his leaves and grass clippings into his burn pile and waits until its moist and with a southerly wind to set it on fire and smoke up the neighborhood.

My battery-operated one would blow the chrome off a trailer hitch. Not sure why anyone would want a gas-powered blower.
