I've said before that I support the free speech of Trump and Alex Jones. There are potential consequences for irresponsible free speech - like slander, libel, harmful misinformation and inappropriate content. Studio Movie Grill isn't limiting free speech by not showing hardcore pornography. But your deflections speak volumes. You'd be giddy if Trump somehow shut down NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC and other entities that MAGA considers "MSM," which only includes media that produces informaton with which they disagree, so they don't count Fox. I'm looking forward to Rachel Maddow getting under his skin - and yours - for the next four years. You can STFU me all you want, but I'm just exercising my free speech!

Proof of MAGA hypocrisy when it comes to free speech. Trump mentioned free speech during his inauguration and issued an executive order "restoring freedom of speech and ending federal censorship." Yet, he is on record of wanting to pull ABC's license and today issued a threat to MSNBC, CNN and Rachel Maddow. In the thread about that, I asked several posters a simple question: Do you support free speech for MSNBC, CNN and Rachel Maddow? And this is what MAGA holds up as censoring free speech, that and kicking Trump off Twitter and Facebook fact-checking information, which it no longer does. Kicking out users or controlling content on social media platforms is not violating free-speech rights. These are private entities that aren't obligated to let their platforms become free-for-alls for misinformation. Newpapers aren't obligated to post all the letters to the editor they get. There's a huge difference between private entities controlling who gets to use their platforms and the content they produce. Look no further than this forum for the rules regarding posting. Sure, you can say what you want. Trump started his own platform and says whatever he wants, and I support his right to do so. Yet the MAGAs here can't say whether they support free speech in regard to media entities that don't report or opine in ways that pleases them. I said early on in this thread that a sure sign that we're moving toward an autocracy is controlling or eliminating media, and not only has Trump threatened to do that, the MAGAs would be giddy if he did. You guys validate my point with almost every post.

The trolling, sarcasm and wisecracks go both ways, and I'm asking a serious question that the MAGAs here deflect with this kind of baloney. You don't want to answer it because your answer is that you are not OK with CNN, MSNBC, Rachel Maddow or ANYTHING left of Fox News to have the right to free speech, and you'd be giddy if Trump found a way to shut that down. And the non-answer from you, HT and others underscores my point about your thirst for a one-party autocracy with an unchecked leader with ungodly dictator powers.

I actually love this, too, from what I've read. The Colombia president - a hardcore socialist with an approval rating of like 35 percent - had agreed to this, and we had aircraft in the air when he called it off, claiming it was because the prisoners had been poorly treated. The tariffs and sanctions will significantly impact the Colombian economy and serve notice to other countries to fock around and find out when it comes to refusing to take back their people.

Yet you guys can't produce actual facts and evidence of this authorianism that the far-right is projecting on the left. Tim is dead on in his assessment of this whole "us vs. them" mentality. Democrats don't see themselves at war with Republicans and conservatives. They see MAGA's radical mindset and angry rhetoric and oppose that, plain and simple. Again, no one is saying that Trump is Hitler, but he most certainly is taking similar leadership actions that are pushing this country away from democracy and to an authoritarian state, and Voltaire's unhinged, angry and scary diatribes underscore all this. MAGA would like nothing more than a complete annihilation of everything to the left of themselves, and that's not what this country is all about. Even Nancy Pelosi said this country needs a strong Republican party. But instead of a strong Republican party, we have a president concentrating his power and MAGA bulldozing its way toward a country that has a one-party system, a government-controlled media and a bunch of rich people getting richer.
