  1. RBs carried me to the title this year in one league. Bell, Murray, and Ware put in work all season and made up for some shaky WRs (ARob, Cooks) and a revolving door of trash at TE.

DJ has to be fantasy MVP this year but Murray has to at least be in the discussion, especially considering his draft position. He propelled a ton of teams to the playoffs.

  2. It's easy to make the argument in retrospect. I've played Rivers over Brees several times this year; this is first time it was the wrong choice.

I don't think it's retrospect - it's consensus. I did a quick flip through various week 15 rankings and most have Brees solidly ahead while a few had Rivers ahead. I can understand wanting to roll the dice but I'd say it was 70/30 that Brees would outscore Rivers. I wouldn't call that a wrong choice - you just got unlucky.

  3. I think you're going to see this more and more now that the seal is broken. Most of these bowl games are meaningless money grabs. If I was a top prospect, why would I focus on a meaningless game when the draft is coming up? Focus on that 40 time instead of possibly getting hurt and losing out on a big contract.

IMO, the days of rah-rah fight for your school are over. If you're a pro prospect, your collegiate experience is a contract to showcase your abilities - nothing more. Basically, it's an unpaid internship in hopes of landing a fulltime gig.

  4. If I had used the cancel-out theory last week, I would have won.

I had a choice of Brees @ ARI, or Rivers v OAK. I chose badly - and I also didn't notice my opponent slide in Brandin Cooks @ FLEX on top of it.

There was no choice to make there. Brees all day, every day. Cancel-out theory is bullshit. Always go with your best plays and Stephen Davis.

  5. Any advice?

Still not sure about my final lineup for today's championship. QB and RB are locked in with Rodgers and L Bell/D Murray. What do yall think about my WR, TE, and Flex? Typical Yahoo PPR scoring.

    Start 2 WR: M Thomas, B Cooks, M Crabtree

    Start 1 TE: M Bennett, E Ebron, A Gates

Start 1 Flex: One of the WRs above or Spenser Ware.

Thinking of going Thomas/Cooks, Bennett, and Ware at Flex. It just makes me nervous having a lot of eggs in the NO basket. I'm also irrationally scared of the Denver defense with Ware (I know teams have run on them).

Gates needs 3 TDs to get the TE record and with Cleveland this week and KC next week, with nothing to play for standings-wise, I can see Rivers feeding him heavy today to try and get him a couple TDs. I know Bennett is the smarter play but I just have a hard-on for the Gates record. Seems really dumb, I know.

  7. No, while the trade is "fair" in terms of points switching teams, I don't see how the guy would even consider this kind of a deal unless his team is literally Brown and nobody else.

If I were him, I'd be asking for D Johnson and Cooper as a starting point.

  8. Good luck offering but I don't see him accepting. I offered his choice of ARob/Cooks/Benjamin from my WRs plus his choice of Lacy/D Murray/CMike from my RBs. He declined and countered wanting Cooks and Leveon Bell. I didn't want to lose Bell so I gave up.

Brown is pretty much the surest thing going (and his twerk game is on point) so it's going to take a king's ransom to pry him away.

  9. Ignoring fantasy for a second, his value to the Jags is hot trash. Those sacks he was taking at the end of the game yesterday were inexcusable.

As for fantasy, he's a total boom or bust player. If you start him, you're just hoping for those garbage time TDs. He's definitely got some weapons at his disposal.

  10. Not really. He has always been extremely inconsistent. Cousins does not have a very good arm, so Jackson's game isn't a very good compliment. I thought Garcon would be a great fit but that was wrong also.

I'm not arguing DJax is going to challenge the top 5 WR ranks but where he's being drafted now as a WR3, and lower in many drafts, he represents a pretty good gamble compared to the guys around him. Cousins doesn't have a Jeff George arm but he seemed to markedly improve when DJax came back last season. Maybe it was weaker competition, but Cousins was doing damage the last 1/3 of the season when DJax was back. Doing some rough math, DJax last year stretched to 16 weeks was around 1100/8. Add health and a full off season with Cousins and I don't see why there's not a good chance that he can improve on that.

Besides, you're not drafting DJax for consistent 8-10 points every week. You should know going in that his week-to-week scores will have high variance. Drafting him is a gamble that he'll have more than a couple monster weeks. I'm willing to take that on from a WR3.

  11.

528 yards and 4 TD last year. No thanks!

If this is your only reason for not drafting him, you're just being short sighted and stubborn. Guys have down years all the time due to injury or team situations and bounce back the next season. DJax has been a successful fantasy WR for a long time. Nobody is drafting him as a WR1 but he's more than capable of bouncing back to top 20.

In a 14 team league, I took him in round 6, pick 79 as my WR4 and was surprised to get someone with his potential there.

  12. I don't see any possibility that this game is close. Denver's defense is good but they aren't the 85 Bears. The Pats game is a total smoke screen and says a lot more about NE's weaknesses than Denver's strengths. Look at what Carolina just did to Seattle and Arizona, both with defenses on par with Denver. Carolina is going to put up 27+ points without question.

On the flip side, Carolina D will focus on shutting down the run game and forcing Manning to beat them - and he just can't do that anymore. He had one good drive against the Pats defense and then didn't turn the ball over. He's going to have to do more. Carolina is going to score and force Manning to throw downfield. He'll connect on a few probably but not enough to sustain several scoring drives.

People are focusing way too much on the hype here and aren't looking at the game itself. Feel good stories don't win games and this one won't be close.

    Carolina 37, Denver 13

  13. He's stashed on mine. I think he's a solid prospect with some hope that he may turn into a top 30 guy, especially in PPR. He supposedly had a great preseason so maybe he can carry it forward into real games after the suspension. I doubt he'll see my starting lineup this year, and I'm even in full rebuild mode, but who knows. The QB position needs to stabilize but he may see decent snaps this year. It's not like he's blocked by a bunch of probowlers on the depth chart.

  14. Another example of passing on early RBs...

I didn't intend to do this prior to the draft nor am I claiming this is some brilliant strategy everyone should do.

I just don't feel good about the 2nd tier of RBs this year. If I don't get one of the top 5-6 RBs, I'll wait until the 2nd tier guys are gone.

    14 teams, total points - not H2H, .5 PPR. I had the 9th pick.

    In draft order:

    Graham

    Brees

    V Cruz

    Gore

    Chris Johnson

    T Williams

    Pierre

    F Jax

    Gordon

    Dobson

    Hawkins

    So:

    Brees

    Gore / C Johnson / Pierre / F Jax

    V Cruz / T Williams / J Gordon (doh) / Dobson / Hawkins

    Graham

I feel as if I got some pretty damn good RB value because the WRs were flying off the board. I went for higher floor, lower ceiling RBs to try and guarantee at least some production instead of going after the 'who knows' types like Sankey and Tate. I'll take 8-10 pts a week and hope for a few 15+ weeks in there.

    Anyway, we'll see what happens.

  15. The fumble was a combo of factors - the ball was under thrown making Thomas slow down and letting the NE guy catch up. Thomas should have secured it better but the NE guy struck the ball perfectly. I find it hard to bust on Thomas too badly. A better thrown ball would have been a TD by 3 strides.

  16. Looking for some help here

Wash RB Alfred Morris is trending towards starting according to Shanny in DC

why is he not moving ...is this just preaseason chatter?

Because between Helu, Royster, and Hightower, nobody knew who was going to be the guy you wanted. Now throw in Morris to the mix and it's even worse.
